      @@GolfTestDummy Well, I'd be all for you feeling cooler but without personal knowledge of anything, Mr. Maxfield seems to think that AC will interfere with a radar based LM such as the R10. Anyway, I totally understand since my garage is pretty much a sauna right now.
      As luck had it, the one time I visited my sister in NC I played the Charlotte Country Club on a day of 104 degrees F and 115 humidex and not a breath of wind for most of it. We played in a cart at 11:00 and my nephew's girlfriend who was a track athlete at MIT had to quit after 9 holes because she got so overheated and had heat stroke. I sweat my shirt through so badly that I just threw it away after the round because it stained so badly. Suffice it to say that I know that it can get stinking hot down there. Cheers.

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  Рік тому

      Haha, sounds familiar. Yeah, any fan or breeze can throw off the R10, but it would be behind the side wall of the enclosure bay, so it should be all good. I can't take another one of these Summers in there.

    And it’s not like you had a terrible golf swing, the high level instruction it’s taking for you to make that progress, illustrates why so many golfers try all the different methods available on UA-cam that you’ve experimented with. Can’t wait till you can get on the course with this

    I’m going into my 6th week at GolfTec and we’re still working on me getting my but down and trying to trail hip over the ball. It not easy go from an upper body dominant swing to a lower body dominant swing. At time I feel I’m too old at 63 to learn a swing like this, but I keep trying. You’re looking good.

    I had a similar experience at Golftec. 50 plus years playing golf and to see some truly awful positions in my swing were eye opening. I have had many lessons over the years and was taught things that hurt my back and at times physically impossible for me to do. I am on track to playing well. I have added 20-30 yards with my driver and 10-15 yards with my irons. Well worth money invested.

    You said some key things in this video that some don’t think about. That is we have FT jobs, kids and other family related responsibilities going on while we’re trying to get better. You talked about being tired and sore. I’m 60 years old now and I totally agree with you. Why do we put ourselves through this mess just to get better at this crazy game?!? It’s called passion and being competitive. I feel it keeps us young as well. Keep grinding you’re doing great. IMO set some goals for yourself like tournament play in the future. You got this man. Stay positive!

    I've held off having Golf tech look at my swing, but if I was younger and had a good back I'd probably try it, but at this stage (62) full right shoulder replacement and back surgery I'm just glad to still be able to hit. Way to go Chad, at least I can learn through you....how come I can't hit a 5 iron? 6-wedges hardly an issue but the 3,4,5 no ideas

      @@GolfTestDummy So, I’ve seen this particular model before (AMG, I believe) and I’ve had limited success with it (limited lower body during backswing - or somewhat static, then aggressive firing of lower body going forward - dynamic). For some reason, it’s really resonating this time. All scores in the 70’s since I’ve used this model (+1 yesterday on punched greens). It also seems that it’s much easier to stay in posture on the “backswing” as well (backswing in quotes because it doesn’t feel like a swing at all - more of a club placement, or back stretch?). I used to see Faldo use the ball between the knees to limit the lower body on the backswing.
      Finally, perhaps Shawn Clement’s recent video about staying behind the pole would be a simple visual to engage the lower body properly without thinking about left knee working back, left heel pressure, etc.?

  • @swingthingtherealbealfeel6309

    Let me say from the start. I get it.... Your channel name/title is spot on.
    Bravery is subjective and varied depending on situations.
    That said, being able to deconstruct your swing is brave. Doing it for everyone to view is another level.
    Regardless of your results, the journey is interesting and appreciated.
    I have thought of a concept for a video that dives into the mental aspect.
    Why "we" weekend/part-time golfers stay stagnant in growth.
    Inability to embarrass or allow for uncomfortable situations in "our" swing is paramount.
    My approach is to build around tendencies and use a few factors.
    1.Alignment
    2. Proper Balance/Weight Transfer
    3.Square club.
    4.Weight Transfer
    5. Follow Through.
    Your videos are great.
    Enjoy your journey!

    I’m not sure I buy the “old fashion” vs “modern” swing … seems to be there’s more in common with Hogan, Palmer (etc) and the modern players than differences. I have a heavy baseball background (played D1), and Ted Williams and Barry Bonds have more in common than differences too.

    Things are still looking way better but the comments I have are very similar to last week. The only reason that you need to push the club through like that and lead with the handle so much is because the clubhead is still moving too inside and too low in the early stages and then the clubhead can't catch up with the hands as they start to move around the body on the lead side, because they are too far behind. If you're using something like the Kawaswing, Ballard's figure 8 drill or many other drills or methods, you won't have to fight to keep the handle ahead into impact so much because the clubhead will be in a better position to relate properly with the downswing hand path.
    Other than that, things are looking so much better. This video by Cogorno "The EASIEST And FASTEST Way To Shallow The Golf Club" for example is very good example of what you should be looking for in your takeaway motion while keeping the other changes that you've made. So instead of pushing the clubhead back ahead of your hands in the early backswing, you should keep it a little more level with your hands and have it go somewhat higher and wider on the way up which give room for it fall behind the hands (hand path) coming down. An easy way to think of this is just keeping the club more in line with your lead arm in the early swing and have your wrist motion be almost entirely just cocking upwards which keeps the clubhead higher and wider going back. Cheers.

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  Рік тому

      Cocking the wrists early was my first lesson, and I think I may have lost sight of that as time has passed, and I need to get back to feeling that, so thanks for reminding me. That may help. Thanks for the kudos, too. This whole process has been tough so far, but I think it's going to pay off in the end. Just gotta keep grinding.

    • @timothypollock8358
      @timothypollock8358 Рік тому

      @@GolfTestDummy Well, with as big as that change looks on video you must feel as though you are playing golf on the moon or something like that. I'm not a big follower of the chronology of swing changes and their evolution per se (although obviously I've seen many) but yours seems, from my memory, to be one of the biggest changes that I've seen in such a short period. Obviously it's far from ingrained or course ready yet (and must still feel very strange) but nonetheless you can pull off a swing and hit a ball with it and that's nothing to sneeze at especially with such a previously long term pattern to overcome. Thus, you've proved your aptitude as a student quite convincingly, so nice going man. Cheers.

      @@RWCARC Brian Sparks is the creator of the easiest swing method. I say method somewhat loosely, it isn’t exactly position based, well it isn’t technical at all. Call me old fashioned coz I am - but I know this is not the completed course but there seems to be no looseness or fluidity in the swing.
    The modern swing is the one that leads to injuries - hence maybe the stiffness you have been getting.
    I hope it works for you on the course but I am sticking to old fashioned.

    • @GolfTestDummy
      @GolfTestDummy  Рік тому +1

      A great point and I've thought the same during this process. You may be absolutely right, but another possibility is that when I'm trying so hard to change patterns, I'm doing so in a really rigid and clumsy fashion. Maybe after I get it dialed in, I'll swing more freely? Or, maybe you're right and the modern swing model is less "swingy".

      @@GolfTestDummy believe this is the key move for my swing that I am trying to incorporate. The right hip drops back and raises up, then the transition has the left hip pushing back with left leg straightening up to the finish. Having someone pulling my back belt loops around to my rear as I rotate really helps with the exaggerated movement of body turn

  • @wanderingbrummie
    @wanderingbrummie Рік тому

    Interesting that on the one hand you have Jim Venetos teaching very little movement, and Golftec teaching so much more movement. Just shows that there is no one correct way to swing the club. What hope is there for an ordinary golfer trying to find one thing that just works?

      I think about things like that SO often, the juxtaposition of extremely different methods and philosophies, both of which can produce great results. But then, it's kinda like shoes.
