- For this review video, I talk about the Touring Edition Exhaust System from AWE Tuning that I recently installed onto Eddy's 2017 Honda Civic Type R. He's put down about 300 miles on the system (break-in takes about 800-1000 miles) and at this point we wanted to discuss our thoughts on how the exhaust system sounds, grab a few sound bites, and also talk about the exhaust suite from AWE in general. Hmmm I'm liking this exhaust and its priced great compared to the competition and one more thing, Just my opinion, I think you should put the stock tail lights back on your Si.

Great video just purchased a 2021 FK8 luckily at only 1500$ over MSRP! I couldn’t be happier I’ve already taken it to its first track day. So far I’ve only done a PRL Stage 1 intake and PRL Intercooler Exhaust is definitely next on the list followed by some 18’s with some nice 200 tread wear track tires. Awe seems like the best choice considering price range and being it comes with the front pipe is a big plus! Thanks for the great video!

@@Pawinning Thank you again for the Type R suggestion exhaust! I can’t wait to really see what the Exhaust is capable of once putting it on my FK8. I’m very curious to see the results of just an exhaust system on the Type R! It’s certainly a car that is definitely capable of improving with just a few minor upgrades. Unlike the Veloster N most of the factory parts are certainly made well. Which is kinda sad like I’ve been trying to get people to understand as well. What I’m trying to explain to most people until you replace the stock turbo on the N it’s basically a futile effort to gain more bhp! As I’m sure you are aware the Type R is restricted quite a bit thus replacing a few bolt on’s and a good tune it capable of making 400 WHP or more on the stock turbo. Unfortunately for the N just a DP and tune is all you need to approach the 300 WHP mark! This is why the TCR cars from Bryan Herta motor

I have a Borla on my Camry, and was disappointed in the exhaust note of the Borla on the FK8. AWE Touring is the way to go for me 🎉
Dude I'm so jealous! I have a Crystal Black Pearl Hatchback Sport 2020 and it is insane. Got windows tinted and stock rims look awesome. But compared to this? Wow great video by the way!

I was burned buying a magnaflow exhaust on my 97 ex back in the day. so so loud.. lol. I keep toying with getting an exhaust for my fl5 but its something I'm going to really have to experience it in someone elses car before I pull the trigger.

Sounds great.....i would like to see someone do a step up which is a stock size pipe that leads into a bigger pipe...might mimic a cut out without actually having a cut out ( might affect the power band and sound depending on where the step up is )
I have a AWE track addition on my fk8 with a rv6 catted down pipe with 180° Universal O2 Spacer with Double metal Catalytic Converter for Euro II, so won’t have the check engine light without using Hondata or Ktuner and it works connected to the rv6 di fouler I would like to send a pic of but looks like I can’t send it here! But it loud super loud so I bough the awe Turing conversion I just can’t wait for my conversion kit,AWE said it will take 4 week to be delivered.i love your videos awesome! Pls don’t making them.
The touring is way better than the Track edition. In my opinion. But the 27won is all around better than both. Barely any drone and it is so aggressive sounding, yet not obnoxious at all. Perfect balance.

There is some drone, but its minimal. THe 27won is louder with no drone tho. 27won is a better sounding exhaust all around.
Not sure how I feel about the sound... must be the turbo + cat, should sound much better with down pipe free flowing exhaust
Totally understand where youre coming from. The tone did change a bit more after a few hundred miles more on this car, but yeah I'm a fan of more exhaust flow with perhaps an upgraded dp 🤘

Did the Type R need a tune after the AWE exhaust install since it comes with a front pipe?
No it did not. Even with the front pipe it still just bolts up to the factory downpipe. So as long as the downpipe is stock you'll be fine without a tune.
Did you get any drone after a few hundred miles?

Question, where can I find the necessary torque lbs to tighten bolts for the installation of this exhaust? Can't find it.
after the break in, is that sounds still that loud between 2.4k rpm to 3k rpm?

Do both cars have "rev hang" right now?
Michael Flare I have a type R and my wife has an SI. SI has pretty bad rev hang, but it’s easily fixed with a reflash. Type R stock has little to no rev hang.

I agree, as well. The stock exhaust is...pitiful. However, after looking into a number of different options, I'm scared of aftermarket exhaust. Especially for the money. I want the power gains, but not interested in being a proud ricer. I may be forced to only doing a downpipe.

Ahh, I dont think you buy this car for the exhaust note, and spending money so it sounds better is just plain silly. If you want noise buy a V8.
