I love the Nordhavn concept, and this one in a more economical single engine layout is my preference. I just wish they made them in a steel hull, aluminum superstructure configuration. Cruising the Pacific Northwest risks hull strikes and gel cost fractures from numerous nearly submerged and difficult to spot deadheads.
A lot of people will tell you that steel hull and fiberglass superstructure is ideal due to the similar expansion coefficients, and that’s my preference as well. The repairability of fiberglass superstructures is superior to aluminum. It’s also not straightforward at all to bond aluminum and steel together when corrosive conditions are expected. I believe Feadship has done it with explosives in the past. I’ll also say that having worked on a lot of Westports, I’ve been very impressed by the hull. Hard for me to imagine myself wanting a stronger hull than what Westport builds, but I understand why others might. If composites are strong enough for Westport and Delta to build 50m boats with 10,000hp that can go 25+ knots, I think it’ll be just fine for a trawler.
I could never afford to buy or operate one of these, but I'd have to say if I won the Lottery we can get a yacht like this. I believe this new Nordhaven is my favorite model of saltwater (or great lakes) boats, but it would be nice to have crew when taking a long run on this boat. You asked what we, the public thought about the new pilothouse. It seems similar to the Nordhaven 55, with the captains ensuite. I'd love to hire a couple with the captain and first mate, perhaps a couple that could stay in the pilothouse stateroom together. Mainly, we'd need a captain for maintenance, some driving .and a mate in charge of cooking, cleaning. I am dreaming with the use of the pilothouse I described, but I do love this design and also love the huge upper deck. It would be great for parties and just hanging out, but we'll want a nice dingy, my canoe and our two kayaks will probably fill up that space, until we dock and pull everything else out.
We just got done servicing this boat about 3 weeks ago, beautiful boat. Wonderful owners as well! I asked the other service crew on it what the price of this was. He said roughly $7M, I can’t tell if he was Bsing me or telling me the truth. The Nordhavn management office said something of the sort as well in pricing. I have full video of the interior as well of us servicing it.
Looks very much like a Bearing. The purpose built boat deck is also very utility, I like that, no pretending. I would put bunk beds in the wheelhouse cabin and denote it as a the Crew cabin.
There is not room in the pilot house cabin for bunks. It would be nice but the way the cabin is, with the dry stack coming through and close in windows, unfortunately it would not work.
It's a Nordhavn. I mean what else ended to be said. True art, beauty, form following function and best of all, it wasn't dreamed up by some Italian guy worried about the lines of the yacht or how it will flow like a dropped leaf in the wind
If only i had the money! Would be perfect for Pacific North West cruising and Mexico to Alaska long range .. love the layout, only change I would make is bunks in lower guest cabin (4 grandsons take up space.. )
Looks great, no doubt about it, but an Explorer not made from steel and with one engine (yes I know there is a limping home engine) is not what I would call a full-on explorer yacht, but it does look the part and I am sure the quality will also be right up there..
@@lynnwilliams5543 I think Bering and Nordhavn are both pretty good at their stuff, not cheap but you get quality and will see you through any weather no matter how rough it might get.
How many ships have you daily lived with? Steel is a lot more work than fiberglass. And Nordhavn extra builds at the waterline and under. What you think you're gonna hit an iceberg and sink like the steel hulled Titani. Hmm. Don't think so. But you're allowed your own opinion
How realistic is such a complete engine failure anyway? Out of the blue and completely unfixable. Seems like any real problem would be anticipated by an experienced operator, it’s not like your engine just explodes for no reason if it’s made by a competent manufacturer
Great build, fully functionable boat, what someone would expect from the Nordhaven shipping yard but I find it very hard to believe the price point is $2.5 million which sounds ridiculously low for a vessel of this level of craftmanship.
We just got done servicing this boat, I asked the other service crew how much this costed. They said roughly $7M, I was like WHAT? Is it really that expensive or did he just lie to me lol.
Rick from Pawn stars says he will offer you $500.00 in $100.00 bills and he takes all the risk! It will sit in my shop for months! These are hard to sell!
@colinanderson3834 Expense!!! But I agree, not for me. Exploring the world at sea is a two-engine job, though some would disagree. Would be a slow trip home on a wing engine, let alone battling a building sea.
Given their track record, I’d say nothing. Look up the builders stats when it comes to long range cruising. Over 150 different Nordhavn vessels have crossed the ocean. A 40 footer hold the world record for fastest circumnavigation of any sized production boat. A 68 footer has traveled further north than any other production boat. There’s a bunch more. Just look it up 😊 Why one engine, without a ton of horsepower? They sip fuel, they’re not meant to cruise fast, and you don’t need a ton of power with a displacement hull. Also- you can get a twin engine configuration if you want 😉
How often do these diesels die, really? They must be more reliable than a gasoline car engine. Been driving for 60 years and have never had a car engine conk out on me with just standard minimum maintenance. Had one run a little rough because of a bad sparkplug wire but no spark plugs on a diesel.

Layout looks good. I always like the idea of a cabin for captain in the pilot house. Can't wait to see the finished fitted boat.
I love these boats. That one’s probably a little bigger than I need but anything from the 41 on up would be a dream.
John, looks like a great layout. Can't wait to see the finished product.
You and me both!

Looks like nice strong vessel as Nordhaven's are. This one looks like it has plenty of room on board and is comfortable.

LOVE IT!! Would like to see you review the Nordhavn 56MS 3 cabin.
Send them an email and ask them 🫡 I would be up for it
Made on the PRC
Always great boats Nordhavn..
Can we give a nod to how beautiful that harbor is?
If only i had the money! Would be perfect for Pacific North West cruising and Mexico to Alaska long range .. love the layout, only change I would make is bunks in lower guest cabin (4 grandsons take up space.. )
Right on!

Just Say BERING

😂😂😂 thats funny!! These little ships have been all over the globe 🌍🌎🌏

I didn't see well, or for going to the owner's cabin, you have to pass through the guest cabin?
Is it only with 2 cabins at lower deck? Or is there also bed in the “office” cabin at lower deck?
Great build, fully functionable boat, what someone would expect from the Nordhaven shipping yard but I find it very hard to believe the price point is $2.5 million which sounds ridiculously low for a vessel of this level of craftmanship.
No steel hull, that’s why.
And only One Engine. Those 2 things.

A rear pilot house 625 would be neat, a modern version of the venerable 62.
Hi John, now where did I put last night's Euro lottery ticket 😎 Nice touch the 'barn door' on the pilot house. Cheers DougT
I wonder why the interior is not shown…
surprised they not released any renderings for the inside :O
This is as big as a 2 person vessel can be. A full time job
How come nordhavn won’t let you on their boats?
Rick from Pawn stars says he will offer you $500.00 in $100.00 bills and he takes all the risk! It will sit in my shop for months! These are hard to sell!
😂😂😂😂
Think this model looks more like a Bering than it does a Nordhavn
Are you sure about that price? $2.5M USD?
Lekker man lekker 🇿🇦
Is beautiful but for this price I go with bering is nothing to compare
At least one cabin is missing.
What’s new …
Click bait. No walkthrough. Worthless.......
One engine? What is wrong with these people.
it has a wing-engine as a back-up/get home
@@YachtBuoy Why not two proper engines though?

You lost me with the single engine. Otherwise, a respectable vessel.
