This is one of the most informational and easy videos to follow. I’ve been a service tech for 2 years and I still go back and watch videos to keep me refreshed. This video is hands down one of the best. I’m located in south Florida and we had a some cold weather this past winter, and this video alone helped me diagnose a bunch of heating calls. We don’t really get them down here so I’m not always practicing checking heaters

I agree 100% with you Art. I had a shitload of questions about how a 10kw heat strip was wired and how they operate in general. This guy doing the video was all about educating the novice technician as well as the very experienced tech. Made everything clear and answered all of my questions. Very good information presented at a professional level. No need for other videos...my man has it ALL COVERED. Peace to ya brother.

Excellent video to prepare for return HVAC tech repair. Had blower but no heat, aux heat light flashing in unoccupied building after turning temp higher for cold weather. Found the HVAC tech did a maintenance service call weeks ago but failed to insert the power disconnect plug at outside heat pump. Installed disconnect and Heat Pump worked, but concerned if weeks of heat strip only damaged limit switches, fuse or heat strips as blower worked but no hot air prior to reinsertion of power disconnect plug.

I run a company and use your videos to help out my newer techs. It saves me a lot of time. You do a great job explaining in detail. However you made one mistake, on the single sequencer (M1,M2,M3,M4) the upper and lower level contacts close at the same time, 1-20 seconds. When you have a dual heat sequencer, 2 side by side or a second sequencer (M5,M6,M7,M8) powering the 3rd and 4th heat strips, the second one will close at the later time of 30-90 seconds. I just wanted to clear that up for newer techs watching this.

This is great information. I have a Trane unit almost identical to this and the fan delay relay was changed out but with a rly2807 that has normally open connector on relay. And in ac relay works fine, but in heat mode the fan will not come on unless thermostat switch fan on. I think someone put the wrong relay on this unit, as you said this system should have a normally closed relay.

My question is in the MCA and MOCP for 240/208 for unit with electric heat. I always see like for example MCA 56/49 and MOCP 60/50 for 240/208. Wouldn’t the higher voltage mean a smaller breaker? Feel like the voltages or breakers labeled are backwards. FYI I am looking at a Lennox air handler for those numbers, but I see it on Carrier too.

I would need a pic of that to jog my memory on that one. Usually they only have only one per rating but I know what you mean. You could email the pic to info@acservicetech.com thanks!

Is this compartment a mock up for training? I’ve only had 1/3rd the room for my paws and meter.

On a Carrier FB4CNF036 air handler there isn't a fan control board like you show in the video. All of the wires go into the fan motor. Is the fan control board built into the fan motor assembly?

Use continuety tester when testing something that low of ohms so you don't think it's an open circuit. (depending on meter)

Thank you for the helpful videos. I've run into an issue with my electric furnace that happens atleast once ever couple of days: The thermostat will call for heat, but the furnace never comes on. While testing, the only way i've gotten it to work again is jumping the fan wires (R & G) for a second or two. 5 seconds after I do that, the furnace will kick on again and go off at the specified temperature. Do you know what could be causing this and how to troubleshoot? Last time this happened, jumping R and W did not work.

Great video! Is it possible to accidentally crosswire and have the heat strip activated when the blower is on, but the thermostat heat mode is set to off?

Can you do a video on a heat strip that has no sequencer and the white wire from the thermostat is connected to the 24 v common on the contactor. I just want to know how it turns on and off. Thank you

Thank you for your video. What is the function of Sequencer in the air-handler? Does it control timing for cooling on and off?

If you wanted to disconnect the emergency heat for a generator, which wire would you break with the low voltage wire coming from the automatic transfer switch for the generator?

Hello, Thanks for informative video. I have quick question - recently, i have replaced my old 5k heat strip with 10k strip and connected all red/black wire as it was on 5k. But, when my unit runs it doesn't seems to be hot enough. Not sure if replacing with 10k did anything so I am not sure if I did something wrong? Please let me know if you can guide me. thanks
