Great view of the back of your T Shirt while you "replaced" a fuel pump. I still do not know how you wiggled it in.

Dusting my ‘98 road king off after 5 yrs sitting in the garage. New battery ✅, air in the rear tire ✅, knowing there was no need for me to drain the gas because after seeing your video I know there’s no way I could do that fuel pump job on mine that’s not working ✅. - I thank you , my local mechanic thanks you 🤣

RKR ROCHDALE 1970 HERE. NICE VIDEO, I SUBSCRIBED, LOOKING AT THAT ASSEMBLY ON YOUR BENCH WAS A MIND BENDER. IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT CAME OFF A MOTORCYCLE! ANYWAY I HOPE MINE NEVER FAILS. HARLEY MIXING ELECTRICITY WITH GAS IS SCARY! MY KNOWLEDGE OF FUEL FLOW IS GRAVITY AND A CARB, SO I GUESS I HAVE TO MOVE INTO THE 21ST CENTURY SOONER THAN LATER. 77K ON MY 03 RK!

Just replaced my whole fuel system. Pump, Filter, Regulator, Check valve, etc. on my '03 Road King. When draining all the fuel out of my tank I was shocked how much fuel kept coming out like it was never ending 😆. It's not a difficult job just takes a lot of patience. Especially releasing the hinge arm to release the pump and getting the old fuel pump out. But with patience it will eventually come out. Getting the new one back in was more of a challenge but again, you will get it. Getting the new hoses to fit perfectly was a little tough. Using a heat gun works great. And I didn't like the original O ring clamps so I went and upgraded them to some screw on O ring clamps, made it so much easier.

No way I would have gotten Quantum fuel line on without the heat gun. Hoping these 7x2 orings fit inside the module I have www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08YY7G7GR/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Where by chance did you find the assembly? Or did you piece it all together?

Nice job. I would have liked to see how you put the unit in the tank. Unfortunately your position to engage the tank was dead in front of the camera!! Now its my turn to do the job. The kit from Drag Specialties only has one hose in it. I will need another it seems. Thanks for the information. Doc

You know if someone made a Harley SS fuel strainer for the bottom of the fuel pump instead of the cheapass nylon one's I just found in a million pieces in the bottom of my tank, you could probably sell a thousands of them.

Nice unboxing video. I'm into watching people open Christmas presents. Nice view of your elbows during the most important part of the video. Maybe standing further away and being more vague while describing the pump assembly hinge would have helped also. At least you didn't forget to mention the porsche 👍

I appreciate the video. Would have liked to watch you finagle it into the opening, but you blocked the camera view. How you connected the fuel pump was also important, but fast forwarded so we could watch.

I have an 01 roadking that is having the same issue. I am gonna try this and hope it works. Do you have the hyperlink to where you purchased the replacement parts? Anything else i should replace while im in there. Any advise is much appreciated.

The filter that carries under the fuel pump had 2 cracks. Can I glue them with a bit of contact glue until the piece arrives ?, since in my country the official agency takes me 60 days. You recommend me? I'm sorry if you do not understand my English very well.

    • @analoggeneration385
      @analoggeneration385  5 років тому +1

I don't really know. It would probably be ok as long as the glue is fuel resistant, but I am not 100% sure. Let me know if you find out for sure.

You did not show how much of a pain in the butt it is to remove the fuel pump from the tank, that would have helped me since I have the sucker half away out but cannot get the pump itself out without bending the metal harness and fuel gauge float, then you blocked the camera with your body when you put it back in? You left out the hardest, sure would have been a great help to actually see the entire assembly come out of the hole.

Nothing screams "failed" cinematographer like "60 seconds" of the back of your tee-shirt while showing how hard it is to put the fuel pump assembly in.

@@charlottepastore5952 Three years ago I did a full fuel system replacement on my 2002 Road King SE CVO and I fought and fought and fought to get the fuel filter and pump out, then I found the SECRE! THERE IS A SPRING LOADED RELEASE ON THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY that allows you to EASILY REMOVE and REPLACE the entire FUEL ASSEMBLY and HERE IS THE VIDEO THAT SHOWED ME HOW TO DO IT. ua-cam.com/video/MBjW8yAD9kc/v-deo.html

I had high hopes for this "how-to" video. The only thing I gleaned from it is that the pump assembly has a release that allows it to tilt. It would've been nice if the video had shown the actual removal and installation. I knew I should've stopped the video as soon as you complained about the OEM pump being an "expensive" assembly. This tells me a lot about your priorities. Cheaping out on fuel delivery is never a good idea. One would think the last pump would be a hint. Good luck with the bike. I hope you have a buddy with a trailer.

This person could have made an informative video. The problem was, he needed someone to shoot the video. Instead, he mounted the camera on something. When it came to removing and re-installing the assembly, the viewer saw nothing. Especially the re-install. All I saw was the
back of his shirt. Then he turned around and said, "well there it is". WTF? I didn't see anything.
