    I wish you lived close to me ! I would so have you install a system in my car ! You do all your work the right way no short cuts and that's the best thing to me . I would do my own but I have a bad left shoulder and the last system I installed was in a Suburban and it about kill me to install it . It came out clean like your work but I was in pain for two weeks after that build . I love your builds because that's how I would do mine ! 100%

    Nice job man, I have been pre-running the wires and do a small tape marker to mark the areas it will split off the harness, then wrap it outside of the car/truck easier on my back.. Keep up the good work.

    I love your videos and they have inspired, and helped, me to build things I never thought I would be able to build. I have watched your videos on DSP's and am still a little confused about them. I would love to see a video that goes in depth on all the features and how to properly install one. And possibly a few different ways of installing one because it sounds like there is numerous different was of using these things.

    Thanks for the video, awesome. I plan to install an active crossover, with one 2CH Amp for tweeters and a 5CH Amp for the door speakers and the Sub. I just need to understand how to go about the fuses and power distribution. (I have the amps but I am yet to buy the cross over). 1. What AWG power and ground cables would you recommend? Both from the battery and at the equipment? 2. I noticed that you used 1 input/2 output distribution blocks for power and ground, please clarify exactly how you powered the DSP from the same power block and how it was grounded too.

  • @vongdong10
    @vongdong10 8 років тому +25

    I don't see the point in using the speaker/tweeters crossover when you've got the DSP to do it.

    • @johnnytluxury
      @johnnytluxury 7 років тому +3

      The speakers X-overs are passive, whereas the x-overs in the DSP only work in an active setup.

      you can run active is what he is saying. You set your crossover points inside the dsp. You don't need the passive crossovers with a dsp depending on your amp setup.

Currently running 2 sets of infinity kappa 60.11 components and a kappa k4 amp. How would i be able to control all 4 woofers and all 4 tweeters with the DSP when the amp only has 4 inputs? Please help!

  • @mrolskul
    @mrolskul 8 років тому +3

    Since you are installing dual amplifiers and a DSP, why then would you use the power-robbing speaker crossovers? Why not let the signal processor send a strong clean signal to the speakers? Seems like a waste of good resources already at your disposal.

    • @CarAudioFabrication
      @CarAudioFabrication  8 років тому +12

      +Mr Ol Skül without the crossovers I would need six amplified channels. I have four (plus one for sub) to run active I would need six plus 1 . Every project is different... You could also say why not install a midrange speaker to allow the woofers and tweeters to play less bandwidth, why not remove the stock head unit for a completely digital source unit? The line has to be drawn somewhere and it's going to be different for every project and budget.

    • @alexisking4316
      @alexisking4316 6 років тому

      Jim Tomko not true even tho it seems unesicary the thing about car audio is its always can be upgraded so even tho the customer chose to leave the speakers on the stock x over the customer now has a full dsp which mean he has further upgradeable equipment for later down the road. So for now its just a 4 ch amp later on he has the ability to. Add on one more 4ch or more and the thing with low level converters is they don't do what the dsp or a aftermarket head unit does it just takes a full range signal and converts it to a low level full range signal so even if you were to use an amp that has lpf settings on it it still does the system no justice bc the amp itself cannot filter out the other higher note frequencies and once again the converter doesn't do it either if your gonna use a low level converter use it only to run a new highs amp because its not doing your system any justice without a dsp or head unit I have seen so many systems done with them and the subs pick note up the shouldn't be if you listen closely you can slightly hear vocals what good is that? Last time I checked its not there to reproduce all the notes its there to reproduce bass notes👍

      @@CarAudioFabrication Considering how much that DSP costs, to me, it would make sense to buy another amplifier, so you can ditch the passive crossover and control each type of speaker separately.

    top notch install!! the only thing I would like to add is that most vehicles come with a appropriate size ground cable to handle the needs of the vehicle . with that said if your going to have an additional load on the positive side , you should upgrade the negative lead or rather add an additional ground lead the same gauge as your power lead to the amps but from the negative battery post to the to the factory grounding point. doing this helps the amps run slightly cooler and helps with light Flickering with bass .. thats my two cents for what its worth...

I have the Audiocontrol LCQ-1 but I am not using the GTO just using an accessory wire to turn on the unit, I read that it makes a popping noise when turned on and off, but I like the fact that it only turns on when the radio is turned on and not all the time when the ignition is in accessory mode. Becaise he's only using 1 4ch f for the doors and one monoblock for the sub you can't seperate them from the crossover because the tweeter need a whole different amplifier and crossover point he can only set a lpf and leave the hpf all alone bc the x over has everything else for the tweeter he x an only achieve the tweeter seperation with 2x4ch Amps

    I did a similar install in my 2015 Buick Regal, meaning two amps an active LOC using the factory head unit, which currently isn't replaceable. I did however install two 15s and my bass drops off drastically at around 28 hz. It's not the enclosure because the subs stop moving even out of the enclosure. My question is, does my factory unit have a higher frequency range to prevent damage to factory speakers?

I just ran a wire from my amp power input block (with an in-line fuse) to my dsp, but I like the idea of using the distribution block to run it to the DSP. I just can’t seem to find one that can go from a higher gauge wire down to the smaller gauge power for the DSP.

      you only need to disconnect the ground from the battery not both, and as for your other question, having the battery disconnected will not harm anything in your car or erase anything from the computers ( ECU).

I'm thinking of running a mono block for the subs along with my 4 channel for dash and rear side speakers. the whole setup is kicker D-series. You should do a video on fuses and fuse locations in power wires from single to multiple amps :)

    In a 2015 Dodge Charger SE, is there any speaker wires that have a full range frequency? I really need to know so I can hook up my DQ-61.

    I was wondering where would be a good place to get some good wire ferrules that keep the conductivity of OFC wire consistent. I don't want to use aluminium that will degrade the conductivity.

    You have a way of explaining things so it doesn’t come across as condescending. That is rare in a world where arrogance is the order of the day and the my 💩 doesn’t smell bad in any direction seems to be the norm for “some” involved in this profession. Consider it a compliment that you are not in the later of these two categories! Rock on guy!🤘😀😁

    great videos first off. would it be ok to use a dsp device with a stock radio along with stock door speakers for just one mono block amp and one 12 inch sub? if so could you recommend....or should I just use a lc2i?

    Hello mark, watching all your videos and loving them but I have one question from all the videos I’ve watched as I want to do component speakers possibly on my truck. How do you get wires through the door boots of different cars? Do you ever use the stock wires and solder the new amped wires to the stock wires running through the door boots to the speakers? Thanks

    i see at 9:00 that the incoming power cable is twice as thick as the outcoming power cable from the fuse block. Is that because you have to deliver twice as much power (Watt) to let the 2 amplifiers work, or does it have another reason for it?

    I understood the re-wiring of the speakers but where I got lost was the 9 wire cable. To what harness or exactly do you attach the 9 wire cable behind the radio to get the DSP?

    That's a cable gland you put a photo of. Still works fine and better water resistance but a bit more costly that just a rubber grommet.

    I have a question so I have my radio mostly tuned for my subwoofers but when I turn my amp off my door speakers like to sound distorted when I turn them up because I have my radio bass bossed. So I’ve been researching and for equalizers so with that I can most likely be able to tune my radio to my door speakers and the eq for my subs right ? If I wanted to then add tweeters can I put them on the same eq even tho im not going to want the settings the same as my subs? With just having the tweeters for just highs and subs for just Lows and then door speakers ran off radio for mids

    Thank you for your channel - it very informative and professional. I'm in the process of restoring a 1989 Ford E150 Custom Conversion Van. I've watched many of your videos that discuss topics from panels to proper sound-deadening. I'm planning a complete build with audio, video, security system - all the bells and whistles. Do you have any suggestions or tips since I have a clean slate to work with?
