Here we have another 2024 Eurovision Song Contest candidates reactions!
I'll try and get through as many as I possibly can before the contest in May.
Today we are checking out Israel's representative; Eden Golan with the song Hurricane.
one of the best songs in the competition. it is so meaningful and powerful.
As a South African, mine too. Clear and powerful voice, great song rich in symbolisms and beautifully choreographed.
The 'clunky' dancers in the beginning symbolized the nova dancers understandably constrained, the uprooted tree Israel in turmoil , the hole in her top the hole in Israels' heart, etc.
Stunning song that perfectly encapsulates Israels' struggle. A song that will forever echoes in the hearts of all Israel loving people...

For someone who was born in Israel and never actually lived there , it seems like the majority of Israelis are adopting a defensive approach regarding that song and are being grateful above and beyond grateful to anyone who chooses to react to that hot potato.
This is what I think . Stop apologizing and be grateful for something that should've comed natural .
It's a beautiful song , precisely composed and sang in the exact amount of emotions and hint to October 7th without crossing lines or stepping on someone foot .Eden is a talented performer and vocalist, one of the best this year.
Israel and Israeli don't need to expect to qualify or get any support. This year is all about being there , the Horicane outside as bad as it will be is just a background noise for this country saying ' I'm here , I'm proud , I'm strong and I will not be threatened not I'll be bullied. This is me and I'm here to stay ' in everyone's face.

For Israelis and the diaspora, all we hope for is for Eden to hold her head high and sing her heart out in a competition she has no chance of winning. But to us, she is a winner. She represents the love and resiliency of the Israeli community. And for that I personally will always be grateful.

Israel's Song this year is a masterpiece. A great song and a great voice! 🌀😍🌀💯👑👋 From what I understand, Eden has 9 octaves and a voice out of this world. This is the best song that Israel has ever sent to the Eurovision Song Contest and it is performed by a great singer with a perfect voice at an international level who will go very far even after the contest...

Eden is phenomenal!! The lyrics are sublimely meaningful and simple. I have watched this over a hundred times (no exaggeration). I actually listened to it in one day, alone, from morning to sun-down. How can a song and the singer evoke the same trembling traveling upwards from the spine accompanied by weeping? Are the angels weeping with me? Is this song divinely inspired? The first week i watched it too the whole day and night. Could not sleep. Its heartbreaking and a bit healing at the same time. ❤
Thanks,,, finally someone who loves music and doesn't take and mix this with politics. I love Eden Golan's voice and especially that slight cry in her throat that she has. I don't think it will win because of what is happening in Israel though, even though it was Hamas that started and still has the Hostage since Oct 7, 2023. I just want to point out, the interpretive dancing is purposefully meant to steal focus from Eden.
“Someone stole the moon tonight, took my light, everything is black and white”It’s supposed to look chaotic and weird. It’s supposed to symbolise the young dancers of Nova panicking, running for their lives.
This song should make you uncomfortable, should make you tear up. It’s not political to sing about loss and mourning. To tribute to those who died, those who are still fighting for life, those who are struggling to mourn in this “hurricane”.

The tree was particularly heartbreaking, immediately thought of those who hid under trees and bushes for hours. Heartbreaking

The group of dancers when the video start, they running away, like hiding when terrorist enter the Nova music festival in the morning of October 7th, 6:40am. if you notice the video is outdoor in nature, like in Nova festival. Young Pepole that want to celebrate music and life found themself in one of the worst terror attack in the world. Imagne the dancers like those young Pepole "dancing" and need to hide and runaway, very sad and horrible.

Hi. I read that her
shirt was done like that on purpose; I think it represents the bullet holes from all the terror, and maybe shootings to the heart.
When she sings - Love will never die, no no - there is no hole in the shirt. Thats a strong powerful moment of healing. She looks very strong.
But later there is a hole again, because it is a long process, but the healing will come. There is always a little light. ❤

Unfortunately, it will probably happen that the people vote with a political background, but as all artists claim, music unites the world to peace, but here it is the other way around. Strange as I believe that music and art are the only things that can unite the world, but tragically, people really hate Jews and that they even defend their own country. I'm not Jewish, but I'm more into what the music and lyrics are about, not what the state of Israel is doing. Hooray for Eden Golan and her wonderful voice and against all odds she does everything with joy and heart. Back to the sadness of all music-loving people who had to put their lives on hold until Oct 7, 2023.

On October 7, the Black Sabbath in which they were murdered, babies, girls, children, women, elderly men and the elderly were massacred, butchered and raped with brutality and cruelty that cannot be described by the hands of the terrorist organizations in Gaza, including Hamas and the Islamic Jihad and "non-involved citizens" who invaded the borders of Israel just because they are Jews. The truth is, the song describes the mental attack of an entire nation (Israel) that went through and is going through a deadly hurricane in our beautiful country. The tribute in the song is in memory of beautiful people who went to dance and have fun at the "Nova" nature party and over 350 were slaughtered and more than 2000 people were seriously injured. I personally don't care if we win or not, Eden conveys in the song the feelings that every Israeli citizen experiences inside. Beyond that, artistically, she has a very rare voice and a crazy song in all respects. As a former Israeli, you should know this, but thank you for the nice response to the song.

Maybe she is suppressing her emotions. The first part of the song is very uncomfortable, goes straight to your heart and throath, with the creeps sneaking in, the heart beat, breathing...

Really, as a former Israeli I expected a little more from you. Being non-political and neutral is fair, but you came off a bit superficial and too cautious. You can talk about the content, without getting into politics. This is an excellent song by all accounts. Stands out above all, Eden is amazing!! She deserves to be in the top 5 !! ❤

I appreciate the professional evaluation of "Hurricane." As it turned out, your prediction was also correct for each country's jury vote, which was largely prejudiced and politically motivated. In comparison, it appears that each country's public vote was an outright rejection of what their individual juries intended.
I read that some of the lyrics were removed because of it being to controversial, Edon wouldnt budge but one of her producers finally made some lyrical changes.

It feels to me like this "interpretive dancing" is obviously the huddled position ppl had when they were in shelters and being shot at when grouped together (on October 7th). I heard testimonials so it's engraved in my mind. And then when they dance it goes between dancing like at the nova party and then aggressive fighting vibes. so contrasting and so close to reality.

It's sad to see Israeli's in the diaspora so scared and "uncomfortable" to react to this song...to first comment on her shirt and hair and the "silly" dancers, it's almost like you didn't want to like it and then to almost apologize for appreciating this heartfelt song that sings to our collective pain. I too am an Israeli in the diaspora, and I am very proud of this song and my country. The haters will hate us no matter what we do, this song is magical and it's MORE than ok to say so.

I stopped watching Eurovision years ago because of the deplorable level of the music these days but this song is actually a good song in itself, Eden has a gorgeous timbre and having seen her sing it live for a bit in a shorty..looks like it IS actually how she sounds so, yeah..should musically be the topcontender but we all know ..it being Israel it won't win. Unless that silent group of the non political centre FINALLY wil decide to show SOME gumption and decide to show that supposed disagreement with that very loud woke crowd at this point and let their vingers do some voting. A wild fantasy , I know, but wouldn't that be nice?
