I read the Stephen Fry book years ago and Greek Tragedys were a topic in school as well (many more years ago). Orfeo ed Euridice rings a bell, but thank you for reminding me of the original story. The most astonishing thing after seeing the first episode was Dionysus. I had to look him up, but could have sworn it was Mawaan Rizwan who was on Taskmaster a few seasons ago. Except it wasn't him but his little brother Nabhaan who is apparently equally ridiculous and exudes the same amounts of insanity and madness to befit a god. The show has a great cast alltogether, so if you're not up with your greek mythology it's still an exhilarating watch.

Personally, I was 100% on board with her as the new lead singer, but once the Scientology stuff came out and that "apology," it really rubbed me the wrong way, and it was really upsetting that they would hire her, considering September is suicide awareness month. Chester's cause of death was, well, suicide, and having someone in the band "replacing" him who is part of an organization that doesn't believe in mental health is upsetting to me as someone who relies on medication to function in day-to-day life. I'd like to see a formal apology to all of Danny's victims that she intimidated, as well as the family of one of them since she also died by suicide. I love the new songs, but the old stuff, in my opinion, is a mixed bag. I feel like when she sings some of the songs, there's no passion or feeling of pain in her voice (Given Up being the best example of that), which makes me believe that she doesn't have that same angst because of her ties to Scientology. I think the controversy needs to be addressed because despite their Instagram followers going up, they are alienating their old fans, and I'm one of them. Usually, I can separate the art from the artist, but it's tough this time because of her personal life. I'm glad that you brought up the Scientology controversy. Great video

I think they were going with stereotypes of America - musically, lyrically and visually. That can seem vaguely racist but I'm not sure they're being serious. The overly friendly but obnoxious American is a common stereotype, and I did find that bit funny. I know some lovely Americans, and stereotypes shouldn't be taken seriously. Good and bad people in every country. It's just that everyone feels the influence of America, which you can't say about other countries such as Belgium. So everyone has an opinion on the US and it's often a mixture of love and hate. That's as much sense as I've made out of the song anyway. Like with their music I don't really know what's going on.

My Spotify FTISLAND live playlist is more than 6,5 hrs long and I listen to all of it on a regular basis. It’s safe to say, that I cannot decide on a favorite, because I love all of them. It depends on the mood I’m in.

I loved Riddy's story especially, yes give me a suffocating wife with her own story to tell! I also fell in love with Dionysus a bit, and the struggle with his human side was really beautifully told even when he was a mostly humorous charcter.

I didn't catch the Nax-Naxos reference. Clever indeed ! I loved the last scene between Orpheus and Riddy, a very masterful way to renew the source material while keeping it as heartbreaking.

I listened to "The Emptiness Machine" expecting it to suck but was instead pleasantly surprised by how strong Armstrong's vocals here. I am concerned about the Scientology and Masterson issues and hope she rejects both.

he wrote the song after the death of his mother who he was very close to. The song bleeds his pain. I played this song for a friend of mine from the Crimea. She started crying during the song for what she felt. I explained it to her. language is no barrier for these emotions.

You are kinda right about the vocals. They're clearly letting SU-METAL have much more freedom with the way she sings based on recent live videos and she's adopting a far more western approach in a lot of cases. Looser, and certainly more nasal at times (maybe illness - dunno). It's certainly not the straight idol-style singing that characterised their early work. You're not alone in noticing the difference and if you want to say it is not your preference you wouldn't be alone either. She's still a top quality vocalist and I can't blame anyone for exploring their capabilities and experimenting. I just hope they don't completely abandon what makes them a unique group and a big part of that is doing things the Japanese way. (As an aside, you can hear a lot of the differences when she speaks American English these days.)

Lovebites is not heavy. Metal is symphonic metal. People do not confuse eg ROCK IS NOT HEAVY ROCK HEAVY ROCK IS NOT HEAVY METAL AND HEAVY METAL IS NOT SYMPHONIC METAL. Do not confuse symphonic metal with heavy metal. You know music, you should know the difference. It falls within the Nightwish or epic line for example. Some people look up the names just before the reaction. This song carries forward the new, more Pop, sound they introduced with Stand And Deliver, shortly after FAMI joined the band. I prefer their more Thrash-oriented songs, like HAMMER OF WRATH, THUNDER VENGENCE, BREAK THE WALL, and SET THE WORLD ON FIRE.
