I love my 2014, same exact set up, except for the trolling motor, but thinking on that exact same one, so a review on the trolling on this boat will be awesome.
Cool thanks for commenting. Check out my Mako follow up review for more trolling motor info. I will give you a few tips I think are vital. #1 if you buy the model that attaches to the deck with no quick release (like I did) do not use the plug into the receiver on deck. It will corrode and cause issues quickly and often. Hard wire it straight so that there is no connection point to corrode. Also, the spotlock is great but just remember the transducer on the back of the boat is where your bottom reading comes from and the trolling motor head in the front is where the GPS locks. Also the spotlock does seem to gradually drift back but typically I can simply drive forward the same direction the trolling motor is pointing to get right back on the original spot. You will only notice this issue when you are trying to hold on structure to fish directly below boat
idk how we ever fished without the ipilot trolling motor i have the powerdrive on my hydrasport bay boat and love it dont have to fuss with anchor and scaring fish off! make are good bay boats! that seafoam green is sick color on any boat!
I own a 2011 Mako 18 LTS. These boats get a bad rap online but I love mine. I originally had a 90 HP Optimax but swapped it out for a 2014 Yamaha F115. The boat isn’t fast but I get about 42 mph at wide open with a light load. It is more comfortable and handles choppy conditions better than other 18 foot boats I’ve been in. I have a single 8 foot power pole anchor as well as a 9 foot stick anchor. Overall, I am very pleased with my 18 LTS.
Great video! I'm considerding one of these boats and your video helps since I have not seen one at a dealer yet. Looking forward to your impressions video and where you place the stake out pole.
Thanks James! Here is the impressions video. So far I am using simply a short rope tied to the bow ring in the front of the boat and it is working fine so I don’t have to drill any more holes. ua-cam.com/video/GvM6n4gJNyw/v-deo.html
Put two Minn Kota Rapters on it, with active anchoring, you will never regret it. Get the mounting brackets that connect to the jack plate. I have them on my 18.1 Tracker boat. Planning on putting them on my Mako Pro Skiff 17
Stopped the video at 6:57 / 18:38 and couldn't believe the obvious delamination between the deck and bulkhead, above the rod holders. Mako quality went down the tubes when they were bought out in mid 1990's, now it's just more expensive junk.
the only compartment with a drain is the livewell in front of the console. thats the only one you can out fish and and it could only handle up to a 27 inch fish
MGS, do you find the throttle to be extremely stiff and has it loosened up for you at all? I have used mine 4 times now and it is really stiff when moving from idle to the plane & vice versa. It is so stiff that I cannot come off the plane without jerking everyone in the boat forward. Not sure if I need to loosen the tension a bit or if it will ease up, tight lines. Thanks - Jack
There is definitely something wrong. I didn’t have that problem. Mine has some play in it going into reverse that I have gotten used to but certainly not stiff. What you are describing is usually what happens when shifter cables need to be replaced but I doubt that since its brand new. Definitely take it back for them to look at.
Hi! Glad I found your channel! We're looking at purchasing a 2024 model. Had a few questions if you don't mind. Trailer is listed as 23'8". Do you know if that's with the tongue folded or extended? How were you able to add that MK Terrova? The only option I see in bass pro and Make is for a hand controlled MK. Also the Garmin. How were you able to include that in your package? I don't see an option for it. Thanks for a thorough video! You still enjoying the boat? Any issues so far?
thanks for subscribing! 23'8" is the overall tongue to propeller length (tongue extended). so in other words, the on the truck length. all options I got, I was able to get by talking to the salesman at Bass Pro. Are there better boats out there? for sure, but I still contend, not for the price of the Mako. It is plenty good to me for the price.
it does not. Probably would if the trailer was backed too far in the water. This boat and trailer loads better with the trailer bunk boards barely under water.
They are called "fenders" not bumpers. The people that call them bumpers are the same ones that call a gun magazine a gun clip.... Good review. You should film running it in a chop to see how it handles.
You can always choose whatever size engine you want. But the package will come with a suggestion. You can just by the boat and have engine installed elsewhere
I think God everyday that the mark ups on these boats are not crazy it's only like five to nine k overpriced so if you could live with that fact it's worth it
Great walk through on your Mako. I also have the Mako 18 LTS 2022. Send me a message if you would like. I love mine and have made a few mods. Great job my friend.
@@mgsfishing I fish in central Texas and the Texas coast. I don’t get to go to the coast as often as I want but just love salt water Reds and Trout. I got my PB Bull Red @ 38 1/2 “ . I had to put the half on there… lol
Mako fit and finish is very poor, I looked at one and it fell way short of my expectations, exspecially with a 45, 000.oo plus cost. Pretty boat though from the outside just don't like the way they do not finish the top cap, hull and interior boxes!
Awesome walk through! Been looking at videos of this boat and yours is one of the best! Subscribed so I can see this boat in action in the future!
Thanks so much for the sub! I hope you enjoy the rest of my videos. please share with your friends.
That be a perfect boat for me for going catfishing down the Mississippi River
I’m planing in buying this skirt as well as a bay boat you just sold me on this skiff for sure
Great walkthrough

@@mgsfishing Thanks, I had that same issue with my old plug. I still have the manual trolling motor 70lb but It is getting old and I use it A LOT

I have to agree, it's a great boat for the money and does handle chop very well.
What’s the least it drafts?

Looks nice. Been looking for one but just wondering normally how good bay boat handles rough water?
Handles chop very well
Very helpful video! What is the length on your trolling motor?
What is the length motor to front of trailer? See if it will fit in my garage. Thanks
Very nice...and Thanks for sharing the PRICE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Do the compartments have drains for a fish box?
the only compartment with a drain is the livewell in front of the console. thats the only one you can out fish and and it could only handle up to a 27 inch fish
would this be better then a mod v bass boat for rough water?
@@matthewpiper580 mine handles it well

Does your trolling motor base hit the trailer's roller when launching?
it does not. Probably would if the trailer was backed too far in the water. This boat and trailer loads better with the trailer bunk boards barely under water.
What’s the overall weight with boat and trailer?
Good work! Sub’d
Thanks so much!
How Shallow can you take this boat??
Did I hear you correctly? 45000 total cost for the whole package. Boat, motor, and trailer? Sounds too good to be true.
Exactly. I know this may not be (the best) out there but brand new with warranties, I think it's a good deal
I would say so. Being that the boats in front of Bass Pro Shops are around 75000 and UP.
Was this boat purchased at Bass Pro? Nice boat!
