    I had an 18 LTS, it was my “do everything boat” so I don’t have to use my tournament Skeeter for non tournament fishing. We run those boats hard, you don’t want to break it on a fishing trip with friends.
    The LTS treated me well. Slight warranty issues, nothing that kept me off the water. Seat replacement and a bilge pump. The bilge pump was changed in a day. It was garage stored, about 2000 hours on it before I traded it on a 2022 Nitro z18 Pro so my son could fish his high school league. He worked for me from the time he was 10, saved every penny because I promised him if he could buy a truck to haul it with, I would get him a boat. Just turned 16, and bought himself 2023 Colorado. He kept his part of the bargain, so I kept mine. Now im looking at a Boston Whaler for the family boat. We spend a lot of time in the salt. Something big enough for Tuna.

      Makos are tough boats. Definitely worth the money in my book. I loved my LTS but they're too expensive now. The skiff is exactly what I need.

    The 40-60hp Mercury motors are made in China. I bought the same boat and at 153 hours it developed a hole in the adapter plate. You might want to pull the cover between the power head and the lower unit and check it out.

    Love the video, love my 2022 mako pro17 w/75hp, I changed oil at 20hours , just about to pass 100hours for next oil change , no issues period!! Load it up, all the time , duck hunting, put 4 fat guys and all gear , still would go 32mph, lots of trolling and jug fishing for cats , so motor is running most of the time , have two 9 gallon tanks , but have gone over 40miles and not used one tank on a trip , yet

    High quality video man. Quick question, I'm thinking about getting the 15 foot mako and was wondering how the 17 foot boat does in chop, I fish in big water at times and I'm unsure about it's ability to deal with waves

    • @H.A.B.Outdoors
      @H.A.B.Outdoors  Рік тому +3

      Thanks for watching. Well it’s a skiff so it takes the waves a little rougher than a traditional v-shaped bow. However with the hull design it’s does pretty well and it will surprise you being that it’s a “square” bow. I would recommend the 17 over the 15 just due to room. But the 15 is still a good choice. You really can’t go wrong with these style boats. Hope this clarifies your question. If you have anymore feel free to ask. Thanks my friend and good luck

    Brother,
    That's just an outstanding review with maintenance overview & recommendations!
    I love how you optioned it with that helm seatback! We're considering the Pro Skiff 17 as out top choice. Prices seem steep this year, like $30k+.
    QUESTIONS:
    - I see you have the 60hp, which is what I was considering ... because it's 100lb less than the 75hp... IF you were to order again, would you stay with the 60hp or go to 75hp??? 🤔
    - I see the whale tail on your engine... does the 60hp struggle getting on plane with 3 full size guys???
    - Do you think the 75hp option with that extra 100lb hanging on the stern, plus guys our size, & full live well put the stern down too much?
    Cheers, Eric

    • @H.A.B.Outdoors
      @H.A.B.Outdoors  Рік тому +1

      I've never rode Ina boat with the 75 but the 60 is plenty. I've had 5 grown men and it planes off just fine. I've had the whale tales on all my motors. If I could turn back time I would still choose the 60 hp. Great fuel consumption and all around should motor and I think it's just right for this size boat.

      It’s like choosing between a XL model and a Lariat if you catch my drift. Both are excellent but LTS has upgraded features. And those features are more expensive. LTS is a little heavier and a little more to handle for 2 man who fishes alone. The Skiff is really light and better for that feature. Too many back and forth vs this vs that. It’s really everyone’s gut feeling and pocket book

They are pretty similar in what they can do, yeah the LTS might be better in a way but the difference is not a huge gap, and like you said you can really only take 2 people on the LTS which sucks, I think ima go with the pro skiff and give it a try, might surprise me, thank you for the info!

After owning the mako pro skiff 17 and having a 18 flats boat, would you consider going to the pro skiff 19 or do you think the 17 is sturdy enough and big enough to fish out of chasing redfish, snook and tarpon? Thanks for watching the video. Yes I would totally recommend the 17 for running after the fish you mentioned. Here are the only downfalls comparing 17 to 19. Smaller motor options, shorter boat (less room) and fuel tanks. Other than that the 17 kicks ass. Now if I could turn back time I would probably go with the 19 ONLY because with the channel I now have camera gear and someone recording and a little more room wouldn’t be a bad idea. But again the 17 is a kick ass boat and will never be a bad decision. I had the 18 Lts and the 17 is more roomier and 3/4 the price. Good luck my friend and let me know with your decision and how it works out.
