I'm doing a fancast for the recently announced Disney Live action Hercules. I'm casting Meg, Hades, Phil, Pain and Panic, and of course Hercules.

I think Mark Hamill would do good as Hades as well.
While I think she’ll be great, she’s a little too young for Chris Pratt. So I think a good alternative casting would be Krysten Ritter. You don’t need to look further than her role as Jessica Jones and Jane in Breaking Bad to know she’d nail Meg. She gives a lot of sarcasm like Meg and has an “I-don’t-have-time-for-this.” attitude we need. Also, Meg is a character who has trust issues towards men, which would work as you compare to Ritter’s role in Jessica Jones. This would be a great to develop on that area much more.

It's a decent pick, but from the moment he mentioned Benedict Cumberbatch, I just can't picture anyone else for this role anymore. Cumberbatch would be perfect.

Elizabeth giles is an amazing choice for meg because not only could she perfectly embody the character but she has an amazing voice that fits right in the range that meg sings in. Perfect.

I think maybe you do not understand Zeus. Another name for Jupiter, the Roman counterpart of Zeus, is Jove, from which we get the word jovial, meaning warm, friendly, and even jolly. So essentially you're saying that Jove is not jovial. Another aspects of Zeus is xenia, or hospitality. This was a big deal for Zeus and is illustrated in several myths. Of all the gods in all the pantheons, Zeus is probably the friendliest and most welcoming. Sure, he has his bad moments and occasional temper, but heavy weights the crown of heaven.

Why is Michael Keaton the only actual good suggestion I’ve ever seen for Hades? Everyone who’s ever been suggested either too sexy and calm to be funny or too funny in a subtle way and not enough of a hothead. Michael gets both.
I don’t like Pratt for the choice, mostly cause he’s 41 and Elizabeth is 27, but I adore the rest of the cast. They completely embody the characters!
I personally like Robert Downey Jr. for Hades, actually, but that's more based on his portrayal of Tony Stark, which goes through everything except outright villainy in the MCU.

Osman Yousif Ritter’s would be a good choice, especially if we’re sticking with Pratt’s older Hercules. However, Gillies has the singing skills needed for I Won’t Say I’m In Love and that inches her ahead for me.
I agree, Hades shouldn't be terribly gorgeous. Other picks that could work are Sam Rockwell (not unattractive, but far more average and not known for his looks), and Wilem Defoe.

Perhaps the only live action disney film I want. Greek mythology is so fun and this film was just great. Even if it did the whole “devil hades” crap.
And Zeus and hera’s portrayal makes me want to throw up, but I completely get why they did it. Great movie though. Despite the inaccuracies, it definitely still has that Greek mythology feel

When you got to Hades, I kept repeating, "Bill Hader. Bill Hader. Bill Hader." in my head, but then you dropped Michael Keaton on me, and I couldn't agree more.

I feel like in the current climate Disney would aim to cast Mediterranean actors as Hercules and Meg. The Gods and the CG characters have a bit more wiggle room for casting, but if Aladdin and Mulan are any indication they'll want to cast actors appropriate to the location even if it means not having huge names.
Yeah, but the ethnic backdrop of Classical Greece was noticeably whiter than it is today. Not like Scandinavian white, but it was honestly pretty ethnically diverse. And I don't think it's as big a deal as actually casting Arabs and Asians. It is still western Europe, not a different continent.
@@thogthemighty7960 dude, greeks were and still are white mediterraneans. I actually am not fan of Gilles as Megara because she isn't Greek. Marie Avgeropoulos is a bettefr choise by far

I love Giamatti! And although Benedict has the Hades chin, you're right, Keaton is a wonderful combination of all the necessary traits. Also, Bridges and Pratt as father and son? Genius.
Elizabeth Gillies has always been my only choice for a live-action Meg. I've seen people cast Ariana Grande but that doesn't really make sense ( not to mention her voice is a little too high pitched for Meg, while Liz Gillies has a more subdued singing voice ).
I like Emma Watson (about the only problem is Emma can't really sing, but that can be solved by just cutting the relevant song, or even giving Hercules the Mulan treatment and making it a non-musical.)

Hercules: Sam Heughan
Phil: Zach Galifianakis
Pain-Panic: Jonah Hill and michael Cera
Meg: Kaya Scodelario
Zeus: Kurt Russell
Hades: Glenn Howerton
For me, my casting for Hades would be Jim Carrey. You see, originally in the animated film, they wanted Jack Nicholson to voice the character. But since he dropped out, it went to James Woods. So I think this would be the chance to get the man of impressions, Jim Carrey, to play the role. I mean look no further than his role as Dr Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog. Also check out Ctrl Shift Face UA-cam channel where Jim Carrey’s face is deep faked onto actors like Jack Nicholson and Gary Oldman, which show why he would work as Hades. The guy ain’t afraid to go big.

This was really well done, but the live-action Disney casting I want to see from you is definitely “Hunchback of Notre Dame”! My humble suggestions: Charlie Heaton as Quasimodo (alternate, Harry Treadway), Zendaya as Esmeralda (alternate, Jade Chynoweth), Ben Mendelssohn as Frollo (alternate, Linus Roache), Alexander Ludwig as Phoebus (alternate, Bradley James), Giancarlo Esposito as Clopin (alternate, Lin-Manuel Miranda), & Jim Carter as the Archdeacon (alternate, Patrick Page).
You seem to forget that in the movie, Quasimodo, is told to be about 20 years old, so maybe an actor around that age would work more, like Ed Oxenbold or Judah Lewis, who have played characters that are complete outcasts.

I feel Jade Tailor from The Magicians would make a perfect Meg... She can sing & act good .
No one can do Hades better than James Woods! He HAS to be the live action Hades. This is the only choice.
Y'know, if Jordan Peele wasn't permanently retired from acting, I would honestly LOVE to see Key and Peele as Pain and Panic. John Mulaney and Nick Kroll are great too, though!

Since Disney technically owns the Percyverse, it be cool if they cast the gods in the Percy Jackson show the same as the Riodanverse, and in the little Mermaid for Triton. The only problem is that Riordans take on old Herc is completely different.
I feel like I could see John Hamm as Hades as well.
Mostly because I wanna see him in more movies.

I can't see Holland as adult Herc physically, yeah he's fit, but I can't see him as "big", but I totally see it from the acting alone. Dinklage might actually be perfect though.
I agree with imakebaddecisions, I think Peter Dinklage would be perfect. He’s an incredible actor, and he can be funny with his sarcasm from Elf, Avengers and his serious side from GOT. Acting wise Tom Holland could be a good choice. But one thing is that he doesn’t stand tall enough for a character like Hercules. He’s small and lean. Perfect to play Spider-Man. But I think we need a Method actor who will be skinny first and then build insane muscle. Maybe Liam Hemsworth.

I can’t argue with any of these choices. Chris Pratt was the first person that came to mind for me. Part of me wanted Aubrey Plaza for Meg, but Elizabeth Gillies is great too. Bridges and Keaton are both perfect!

Definitely think Simon Pegg and Nick Frost would be entertaining Pain and Panic. If you do continue with Disney live action I think Leslie Joseph would be perfect for Yzma in Emperors New Groove.

Hercules is one of my most favorite Disney movies so I'm really nervous about this being turned into a live action. I think you did a great job casting. Disney'd better do this one right.

While I adore Greek mythology and agree for a cartoon Hercules is amazing, it is a little sad how rarely the cast in these movies look Greek. The cartoon took a lot of liberties but I mean, the muses definitely payed homage to The Supremes so never bothered me, but I would be curious to see if a live adaptation kept the same liberties or tried to stay more true to the time and setting for a more serious route.
Elizabeth Gillies as Meg? Those were literally my childhood crushes, and that is too perfect. I generally dislike seeing Disney’s live action movies, but now I unironically want to see this movie.
Keaton as Hades would be amazing, I just can’t imagine anyone else in the role, at least in the Disney version.

I do like the choice of Michael Keaton as Hades, although I'd personally choose Glenn Howerton. Dennis Reynolds is basically a not kid friendly Hades anyway, and his experience with It's Always Sunny would really help him sell the more comedic bits.

I'd like to see you do a live action remake of Miraculous Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.
I can see where you’re going with Michael Keaton as Hades, especially where it concerns being close in age to Jeff Bridges who you suggest as Zeus, but I always got the feeling from the animated film that Hades was a much younger brother to Zeus.
I went along similar lines to you with my fan casting of the character. Looked at people who’ve performed drama and comedy excellently, as well as someone who can be a smooth talker and have that notable (pardon the pun) fiery hair-trigger temper.
Which is why, in the end, Bradley Cooper is my preferred choice for Hades.

I think there should be a multi casted role for Hercules cause he ages. Kinda like the age montage for simba. I do think Chris pratt is a nice idea for Herc but ultimately I think he should be younger and there is God strength sooo. Idk where that was going lol. I do think that disney should play on some of megs back story. Like what they did in that high-school tvs series. That would be cool to see and nice to know they acknowledge all their works.

Nailed it with this one. If you haven’t already, it would be cool to see a recast of the already-released Disney movies that weren’t so good, like beauty and the beast in particular. It’s my favorite Disney movie as a kid but I thought the live was terrible and I couldn’t get through it.

I notice in most recasting videos that very rarely do people actually cast siblings in the roles of siblings even though there are plenty of sibling actors in Hollywood or at the very least using Cousins.
I have two challenges for you, Hunchback and Black Cauldron. For both, I think you should give audiences what they want with these remakes. A blend of their materials and the Disney films And I have a suggestion for the Horned King, Iwan Rheon. He’s played Hitler and Ramsey Bolton, it’s time he played a literal demon. And also, he’s welsh, so it would be accurate to the novels.
I honestly wasn't expecting Chris Pratt to be cast here as Hercules, but when Bryan explained the kind of mannerisms for Disney's version of Hercules, I'm sold. I think Chris Pratt could really pull off a live-action Disney Hercules.

For Phil, I would have gone for Peter Dinkledge, as he's done the anger prone wise adviser with Teryon. Also, an alternative to Jeff Bridges would be his IRL nephew, Jordan.
