I don’t expect everyone to know or realize this but for those who don’t know much about drag times and trap speed, a near 10mph difference is a huge margin and it shows because the 1 second the demon won by is crazy especially because it came off the line slower

I think the Cat made mistake, too, kinda surprised that he nailed the start, but totally under estimated how much the demon put in torque on second gear and so on. Should be textbook definition if gapplebys.
In racing winning by .5 seconds is alot. There's a huge difference between a 2.5 sec 0-60 and a 2.0 sec 0-60. Takes alot more power just to lose that extra .5 seconds of your time. Alot of people don't realize that.

Basically the same engine. What gives the Demon an edge is the 2.7 liter supercharger that helps produce about 840 horsepower. While the 6.2 HEMI SRT in the Hellcat is about 717 horses.

May not seem like a huge difference but 1 sec and 10 mph trap speed is quite a bit of difference in the 1/4.
It takes a decent amount of power to get from the 11’s to the 10’s even though it seems like it wasn’t much of a gap.
They both hooked pretty good so I’d say that this was a good comparison of the two.

Had the pleasure of riding in a Demon last summer after a golf tournament. Absolutely perfect. Acceleration is amazing and the only issue we kept running into was having to slow down when we hit 150 and somebody was riding in the fast lane.

A low 10 second car is insane. I had a high 12 second car in the late 90's and that was insane at the time, nearly incontrollable with just over 300hp. How technology has evolved is amazing..

I am a 52 yr old woman, so I'm sure that I'm considered too old for this, but I'm having a ball in my brand new Demon. The colour of mine is even the same as here, only difference is that I put $8,000 of upgrades in mine...because...well, because I can. Totally irrelevant, my point being you don't need anything extra. This car is an absolute thing of beauty. For the first time in my life, total strangers come up to me to see my car. It was weird at first, but now I fully enjoy it!! Just wish I had a straight piece of road so I can make it do what it's meant to do. Seriously why do they tempt us with cars like these when we don't have an autobahn??

My panties are relaxed, as am I. It is absolutely irrelevant what either of these cars are worth resale in 20 years time. #1 these are Dodge cars, so not going to last that long for the majority of owners. #2 Even being limited edition cars these are not rare and production releases are fairly large. There are 23 trim variations of the Charger alone in 2018. And there were changes made to each as time went on. These Dodge's are a dime a dozen and not very good cars outside flooring it down a straight road or highway drives. My Evo is in an entirely different performance class than that so I'm fine with it even if one eventually beats me. With a garage full of parts to install and a resulting tune I'll be putting down 450+ whp in the coming couple months. These boats can't catch me now..they'll need a procharge to do it after I'm re-tuned.
The Demon is ten times scarier in person. Encountered one on an early Saturday morning in mid town Manhattan. So the roads were empty due to the time and the buildings created an echoing corridor. It approached behind us and as I heard the screech of the supercharger I had a thought of "what the hell was that?!" It is definitely appropriately named because with all the noise echoing it sounded like it was straight from hell. Turned around to see it stopped at a stop light. Light went green and he floored it down the street right by us. It was awesome, and it sounds absolutely terrifying in real life with all the echoing. Definitely the coolest car experience of the trip. Cooler than the V10 M5 we got to rev for us. The 911 and amg sls doing a street drag race. The S classes every other block. Okay I did see a LaFerrari on a trailer which might have been cooler, but otherwise of all the cool cars on that trip, the Demon was the coolest experience.

Hellcat is $20k more than a 5.0 GT.
With that $20k, you could supercharge and a dyno tune the GT (plus more), and you'd blow the Hellcat out of the water.
Performance-wise, GTs run ~4.4s 0-60 and mid 12.7s Quarter Mile; Hellcats (supercharged with an extra 1.2Ls of displacement and ~250hp/230lb-ft more) run ~3.7s 0-60 and ~11.7s quarter mile.
Obviously the hellcat performs better straightline, but considering the GTs much weaker NA set up, it's to be expected.
Also, no hellcat is handling better than a GT, especially weighing 650lbs+ more and having a wheelbase nearly a foot longer than the GT.
Now, consider the Bullit/GT350/GT500...

Both have a ~3.7s 0-60, Hellcat runs 11.7s quarter mile, Redeye runs 11.6s.

Backyardmech1 Im an import guy, and i gotta say that the Demon and the Hellcat are true muscle cars, you can hear them from a mile away not to mention that they haul ass, there the greatest thing build in america since the LS7, and to go more old school chevy guy the 350 small block.

I agree. I drive a 18 SS Camaro and I always hated Dodge especially the Challengers, but I've grown to respect and actually like these two. Still prefer a ZL1 over a Hellcat tho lol

I'm wondering at the tape covering the rear fascia line on the Hellcat. I installed those facias at the assembly plant for a few months. Are they prone to becoming unattached at high speed?

Same as the old 426 vs the 440 six pack. The 440 was actually a tick faster. It produced the same or a bit more torque at a lower rpm. To find either one in good condition, you’re still need a ton of cash.
10.0 and 11.0 that's actually very fast for both. I've seen demon run alot of 10.4s. And I've seems the hellcat runs alot of 12s so I'm very impressed. Unless these two are modified then the times are meaningless.
