I did a one day class a year ago and I recently bought a candle makjng kit from Hearth and Harbor. Wish me luck
The "hand poured in Mississippi" on the Petrichor label at 25:15 just kept pulling my focus. But in a later shot, it looks like it was corrected. The tins looked good...great work on the improvisational candles.

Really appreciate your videos. Loved the small pot you used! it's perfect for testing. I was given lots of bees wax from a beekeeper I knew. Naturally sweet smelling, but I have struggled with wicks. I also use tins because they're not as weighty as glass and they stack perfectly. I have tested a variety of waxes to blend with the bees wax, using the 4oz and the 16oz tins. Still not completely satisfied with the results. Hope you try bees wax on some of your videos. You're a rare gem!
Thanks so much. I don't use much beeswax particularly on its own. It's good for blending though. You will definitely need larger hotter burning wicks for beeswax. Try CD or square braid wicks
@@BlackTieBarn Yes! Thank you. I am using the CD wicks and currently trying to find the right blend with my beeswax. Guess it's testing, testing. Lol! Appreciate your response. I ordered my small pot. Love your videos!
Hi wade, from Jamaica here and I'm really loving your videos, awesome experimentation. These did turn out so good. I've learnt the most from your videos and just wanted to say thank u!!!! Did u do a video on labeling?
Thanks for the video, the tins are really nice. I was looking at that particular blue at candle science, it was nice to see it in wax. Always helpful as usual.
I like the tins and was especially interested in how you measured scents for a small volume of wax. Those bottles are not very forgiving because I vhave spilled fragrance while measuring. Recently made 12 6 Oz lavender candles when I intended to make 10. Current wicks on hand is eco -10 and eco - 12 which both are good for using with 464 soy wax. Planning on selling the candles as a craft until I can get enough to start labeling. I purchased a calligraphy pen just for fun to try and customize my labels.
That wax came out super smooth! Nice. Question: tips for cleaning aparatus? I made a blue candle, and when i made a few white candles after they came out gray because i clearly hadnt cleaned them properly. Its put me off making color candles, unless i buy kit just to use for a specific color. A video on thos would be amazing.
Yah eating them first is super important. I do have a few videos on using color as well. If you navigate to my channel, click view channel, and then the video section you will see them. :)
I love those tins! I actually already have a case of them that I bought from Amazon. I will definitely get more from here. One question; did the labels go all the way around the tin?
Hello. I have been making candles since last year and so far I have sold them over 100 candles😊 but now I want to change something like I was using eco wicks so now I want to try cotton wicks for 3.5 inch tins like of fancy tins. So do you recommend cotton wicks for 3.5 inch diameter. Please reply soon. Also do you think double wicks works better for 3.5inch or one wicks is good too. I’m doing both single and double wicks in same tins.
3.5" diameter is a tough size. If single wicking is proving tough, definitely ty double wick. Eco put cotton is fine. Depends on wax and your preference. And I do my best to respond when I can. Always super busy but I'm usually quite responsive
@@BlackTieBarn also I wanted to ask how long does it take get melt pool of 3.5 diameter with double wicks? So I can tell customer how long to light the candle till they can blow it off. Thanks I’ll really appreciate if you reply soon
Thank you so much for this awesome video. I just have a quick question about the labels. What label material did you use. It has that nice sheen to it. Also, if printing labels yourself, what type of printer do you recommend? I have perfected my candles but I can’t seem to get the labels to look the way I want because of the material I’m printing on I guess. They just don’t look sleek and professional. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I just want you to know that there was a point I just wanted to give up and throw the towel in. I then started watching you and I felt like I could do it, you made me feel like I could do it… And now I’ve been doing it for about two months. ❤thank you
Aww thanks, I appreciate hearing that. But that's all you. Glad things are going better. As far as what wick to use... what jar are you using. Along with wax they are the most important factors
I’m using the 8 oz tin jars. the pro blend 600 and IGI 4627. I know you can’t be exact but maybe a starting place for me for both waxes using the tin jars. 🙌🏼💙

I just made these candles that I am beyond excited more than proud to gift someone. So yes this was you… Maybe a little me but this was you!!! ♥️

Thanks for the great content. Are those labels ones you've designed yourself in Canva? I have Canva Pro but have never seen any in that style/size when I search for candle labels. Thanks! Carrie.
With the woden wicks. I tend to use two together, not just the one ad that is what I've got told and works well. I have not tried using just the one wick. Do you think it would make much difference to use one single wick?
Hey!! I use the CandleScience round 8ox tin which shows to be 3.125" across.. IGI 6006 wax, 8oz fragrance load, brown die. I have REALLY struggled getting a good Hot Throw. my test customers say they can't really smell it. Trying to hone in the wicking.. I have gone up as far as ECO10 which is probably over wicked. I have some LX22 and LX24's. Have HTP's and Zinc Cores.. Any suggestions on a direction for wicking in this size tin and IGI6006 wax?
Hi, first thank you for the video. I wanted to know where you got the labels for the tins. I having problems finding them. Did you say they are 1 x 8? Thank you in advance. Gina
Hi again, can I ask what label sheen you used? Got a little overwhelmed trying to pick one from online labels. Wanting something with a nice classic finish. Thanks so much for all you do for the rest of us :)
Question: Wade how many pouring pitchers do you use when making your candles and I've seen in other videos that you just wipe them clean with a papertowel. When I try and do this I feel like some of my FO residue gets left behind. Any suggestions on how to clean in between FO's or do you just use separate pitchers? Thank you in advance for your response. Great video as always.
Hi Debra, sorry I missed this before. Some comments just get buried. I just clean the hot wax out, use heat gun to reheat if necessary. And occasionally use alcohol or mineral oil if I think it needs a bit more cleaning. But you are often going to still smell a bit of the prevous scent, it doesn't transfer though. Give it a good wipe down hot and you are fine.
Hi, I love your channel and willingness to help us newbies! I am finding it hard to wick these tins with Makesy Coco Apricot Creme wax. Could you give me a good place to start with a single wick type and size? The cotton 91 suggested on the website is not big enough. Thank you!
If my vessel is 8oz and I know it will hold 7.5oz, should my calculations be based on the 7.5ozs?. Also, where's the best place to learn about wood wick sizing? I'd like to learn more about how the number system works. Thanks!
Those came out nice. I didn't quite catch the product you used for the color, and I didn't see it listed in the description. And how long did you wait until testing the candles?
Candle science liquid dyes. Although there are lots of good dyes. I tested these the next day. Again, though, keep in mind these were to try out the tins more than anything. It would take longer to dial in the right wick type/size etc.
Several places. But most of my standard collections come your popular suppliers like candle science, Aztec, Flaming candle, natures garden, lonestar, Midwest fragrance, little bees scents.
I actually have tons that I’m using same size but I am very interested in the labels which I have been having a stressing time with picking labels which size did you use.
I tested these the next day. Again, though, keep in mind these were to try out the tins more than anything. It would take longer to dial in the right wick type/size etc.

Smaller one is a soylite Presto pout emeith spout. The other is a digital boil
I wish they were available in the UK too.
Yeah for sure
Loved the video, one question where do you get those sized labels and what type of printer do you use? Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Online labels and just a basic Brother color laser printer
Thanks for the great content. Are those labels ones you've designed yourself in Canva? I have Canva Pro but have never seen any in that style/size when I search for candle labels. Thanks! Carrie.
Nope.... I show in the video that they are templates provided by oliicraft when you purchase the tins. They give several well done templates. :)
@@BlackTieBarn ah got it! thanks so much for your swift response. Have a great day!
Gina
Try onlinelables.com I just happened to have had 1x8 on me but that isn't the only size that will work. :)
Hi again, can I ask what label sheen you used? Got a little overwhelmed trying to pick one from online labels. Wanting something with a nice classic finish. Thanks so much for all you do for the rest of us :)
it depends on the look you are going for. I like high quality matte but i have a metaalic sheen on some as well.
I love these tins,,,who is your supplier? Thank you!
Thank you!
very nnice
Hello sir.... I need more info on make tin/glass labels... please help. Do you make your labels on canvas
Some yes. But the test I design in photoshop. But it's up to you
great tutorial as always, unfortunately for me none of the tins or fragrances are available to Australia. appreciate your work, and information 👏👏
Ah, bummer!!
How long do you burn for a full melt pool ?
I see 2 hours to 4 hours. What do you recommend?
If my vessel is 8oz and I know it will hold 7.5oz, should my calculations be based on the 7.5ozs?. Also, where's the best place to learn about wood wick sizing? I'd like to learn more about how the number system works. Thanks!
Just placed the order, thank you for the code! Was it the 755 or 780?
755 or it will vary. Could be anywhere between 750 and 770 for pebbled. Eco 6-10 probably
But that was with the wax I used as well
It matter the vendor on the wicks? Or there’s any vendor you recommend ? Thank you ❤
Those came out nice.
@@BlackTieBarn Thank you very much for posting this and responding to my questions. I really appreciate it.
How does the proportion vary if using essential oil vs fragrance oil?
Hermoso
❤️👍
Well, looks like they stopped making these tins with Olii craft. It was fun while it lasted!
Do you make all of your candles with the same FO % or do you switch it up depending on the fragrance??
I start testing with same amount. Buy I change it up depending on FO as some are overly strong. Lol
@@BlackTieBarn ok, thank you for responding. I am getting prepared to start testing and I was curious how to go about it.
Where do u purchase ur fragrance’s from, If you don’t mind sharing? Thank You!
Several places. But most of my standard collections come your popular suppliers like candle science, Aztec, Flaming candle, natures garden, lonestar, Midwest fragrance, little bees scents.
Great insights!! 👏What is the diameter of those tins?
How do you guarantee a burn on your wood wicks? Ive read that you have to soak them. Many people say they don’t.
I've never soaked them really but long story short is there is no way to guarantee it with wood wicks. No two wood wicks are exactly the same
I actually have tons that I’m using same size but I am very interested in the labels which I have been having a stressing time with picking labels which size did you use.
These were some 1"x 8" or so
Do I have to order tins from them to access label templates?
@@minyellemoses5229 for their specific templates yet. they come with the purchase of the tins. although there are other templates out there i am sure.
Is the mocha close to CS's bronze lids by any chance? It's hard to tell online and I've been looking where.
Close but not the same. These are more of a fancy mocha than a bronze that I have used. But close.
How long did you let these cure before testing them?
I tested these the next day. Again, though, keep in mind these were to try out the tins more than anything. It would take longer to dial in the right wick type/size etc.
Wade I'm unfamiliar with the fragrance and there's no link to bees? Fragrance company, can u send me a link?
Little Bees Scents. :)
Can u use that wax for wax melts also
It's too soft. Try pro blend 650 instead
