Great video. Got all the parts you recommended and 30min's later I had a crisp single action Shadow 2. Thanks again!!
Thank you for doing this, I will give it a try myself as soon as I order the parts
Awesome how to video! Doing this to my S2, as soon as it arrives.
Best video, you can actually see what your doing. Thank you.
Thank you! I’ve been working on lighting and camera angles trying to get it right, not perfect but it’s getting better
Great video, just did the same conversion on mine after going through your video and it made it easy. Thanks for the content.
Great HOW TOO video. It answers all the questions I've had about doing this. THANKS!
Awesome job, great video! Thanks for this!
I did it the easy way. I bought a black& blue Shadow 2 SAO.
Awesome Job!! I just ordered the flat trigger plus the short reach kit from CZ Custom, this really help me with disassembly. Thanks
Glad it helped! I also have a complete disassembly video of the shadow on my channel also. Thanks for watching !
JohnBoy what’s the short reach kit? I put this trigger in my SP 01 safety. Long reset, other than that, I love it.
Awesome video, that’s my next improvement to my shadow 2 , thanks man
@TheGunBench
Phenomenal video! The only reason I was able to successfully install my SAO Flat trigger tonight is because you made this video.
I can't Thank You enough!
Great camera work too.
Feel like I bonded with CZ too 😂
Thanks for another great video!
Get well soon!
Already did this to my Tri Star P120. Didn't realize you don't need the hook on the hammer. Bought a Shadow 2 today, will do the same thing. Have a .40 cal IPSC Standard from over 15 years ago. What a magical pistol. Trigger pull on that is less than 2 pounds. But, it is in .40, Want one in 9mm. Now I have it.
Best video on this topic!!!
Great job, this video gave me the confidence to give it a try. Now all I need is to give my buddy the confidence to let me do it to his shadow 2. Thanks
It’s simpler than it seems, no major things to deal with. I’ve done a lot of CZ work but even at that the shadow is one of the easiest to work on. Hope it all goes smooth. Thanks for watching
I envy you. Buy a gun without police permission. It is not that simple in the Czech Republic. At least half a year before they issue you a permit.
A great video! I am planning on making my P-01 SAO and I am hoping to use this video as a "guide" even though the process might be slightly different on different models.
Very good video, nice clear explaned
Great video! First time I’ve seen a gun tore down and I’m surprised of all the parts. Excellent lighting and view! Keep up the great work
I appreciate it, check out some of my other videos... these don’t have half the parts some other pistols I’ve done do.
Awesome review! Very well done, and good filming makes it easy to see all the details
Thank you I appreciate it
Great video man thank you!!!
Fantastic video! I watched it, then purchased the parts. When they all came in, I followed along with your instructions and got the job done. I love learning how to do new things and really like being hands-on with my firearms. Now, I'm ready for a new 3-gun season with a great new trigger. Thank you!
I gotta try this on my p120, got it down to 3lbs with just springs but I like the flat trigger look
Fantastic video!!!
holy shit that's a lot of parts lol great review buddy!
You did an excellent video, it was perfectly shot...clear imagines, no close-up of dirty finger nails..
It's been added to my favorites, will definitely help with my CZ75B
Lol well I appreciate it, I’ll be doing a 75 compact here soon
Awesome how to video. Turned my Shadow from a likeable gun into one of my favorites.
Tips: Use a dime underneath your thumb to put the hammer spring back in. The floating trigger pin seemed to go in easier left to right. That disconnector pin is a pain. I used a long star driver bit the right size as a punch with a hammer to drive mine out.
Great video
Sweet man 👍
Very Good Video!!!
Thanks, bruh! ✌️😄
Good job idol
Great video, loved the lighting, it really helps. I've done the Cajun trigger, hammer and springs to my (much cheaper) SP-O1 and love the results. I'm sure it's not as nice as that Shadow Two, but still pretty darn good.
One thing I noticed you didn't look under the trigger bar to be sure the double spring was in both grooves after you put the trigger assembly back.
I had one side out of the undercut grooves and it gave me a lousy week till I found someone who could point me in that direction. Probably not as much a problem since you don't have the hammer block, but still it's a good idea to make sure both arms are running smoothly on the springs.
Have a great one.
Oh, and I also loved your video on the G44, very helpful.
Yeah I’ve done it so many times with this and other czs I just feel it, I look and make sure but with the dual sided spring it’s less of a problem for them to pop out compared to the single sided spring. Appreciate the heads up though thanks for watching
My wife have a stock shadow 2 but she has really small hands ... so she can not press the trigger when DA is on...
So your video is maybe the solution ! I will buy a flat trigger , take off disconnector, magwell to switch it to sao. And go to limited minor .
Awesome video bro. I'm gonna be sending my SP01 to CGW for Optics Milling . While its there im gonna have them do SAO Flat Trigger Job . I dont know if i need Pro Trigger package for SAO or not . Im already on the schedule at CGW to get the work done so im sure they will let me knkw what package i need for their best SAO trigger .
I was going to get 2011 either Prodigy or Bull Armory from my LGS . They had lighly used SP01 on Consignment for ridiculously low price that i couldn't refuse . I figured out the math and it was actually cheaper buying the SP01 and then having CGW do all the mods for USPSA L.O. Ready to go pistol .
Ive been shooting X5 LEGION with AC mods for 2 years now and its super fast pistol. Obviously now that Limited OPTICS is a new division I'll be switching from CO to LO . For 2Gun SAO with Optics you can use TACTICAL LIMTED Division or at least you can where i shoot at . I shoot way more 2Gun that i do USPSA but either way i want super fast SAO pistol with proven track record . Super excited and can't wait until everything is done . CGW said it will take about 12 to 14 weeks in total to do all the work so we will see .
Again awesome video . I like to think I'm savvy when it comes to doing shit like this but im not . I can do ARs and Glocks blind folded but most other things i struggle with .
I am so glad I saw this fuck buying a 2011. The shadow 2 has 1911 style controls and to have the rail and single action makes the perfect cz.
Assuming you can do this on the optics ready shadow 2 as well?
I just bought one of these thats been converted to SAO. I’m wondering what parts I would need to convert it back to DASA?
@TheGunBench
Did you use any loctite blue on either of the trigger screws?
Can I assume I can do these same steps to achieve this on my CZ SP01 Safety model?
you can change the trigger and same time let the single-double action mode?
I did this conversion with the factory aluminum SA flat but curved at the bottom trigger and my trigger actually hangs up at the very bottom on the trigger guard and doesn't reset.... I put some oil in the trigger guard where it was catching and it helped but I was pretty surprised since it's a factory CZ part...
Will this work with the Eemann Tech SA flat trigger?
Awesome vid! Is there any benefit to converting the double action to single action only over just purchasing the SAO version of the Shadow 2 upfront? I'm looking at purchasing the Shadow 2 in SAO, so just wanted to double check if there are other components on the DA/SA version that I would be missing out on. Hope that makes sense!
Not really, you just have the option to change it back to double-action which you wont have with the SAO.
Thanks!!! However, my SA does not move as freely as yours once I put in the reduced power return spring. Any ideas?
It’s all good now! I kept actuating it until it loosened up. Thanks again for the great video.
So what will be your category in IPSC? You'll move to standard or open division?
Does the conversion reduce the SA pull at all?
does the cz handle better it being single action rather than double? I'm in the market for one I really want the tactical as it only comes in single
Great video! Will I be able to use this exact same process to turn a SP-01 into a SAO?
If it’s a manual safety then yes it’s close but those have a firing pin block which most people remove to get the best SAO trigger possible.
The Gun Bench Thank you!
Hi... Great video.... I followed it step by step... Thanks you... I made the adjustment on the trigger.. To have less travel.... But the trigger would not reset... Any updates or feed backs on this issue. Let me know thanks.
I’m having a similar problem with my SP-01 w/manual safety. Attempted to install shadow 2 trigger (SAO), but trigger will not drop the hammer which also causes it to not reset. No trigger to reset if the gun wont fire. My initial issue was leaving on the disconnecter, but after taking the gun down multiple times even with the disconnecter completely disassembled it still won’t fire. I am just now seeing Cajun gun works says the Short reset System is typically needed with firing pin block models which the SP-01 has. Which makes sense but again no trigger to reset so I’m hesitant to spend $80 on the SRS without knowing if that’s needed to drop the hammer or not. I did purchase a 15 pound hammer spring, the firing pin retaining pin, a firing pin spring the floating trigger pin a 14 pound recoil spring reduced power trigger return spring & a stainless steel guide rod all from CGW. Been at my table for 12 hours on forums & UA-cam with my SP-01 in front of me trying to get to the bottom of this. If anyone has any information that would help me out please drop a comment & tag me. Best case scenario I’m the issue & not the gun, hoping that’s what it is. Anything helps!
you are missing a part..... there should be a tiny part holding in the right side safety lever
If I got the parts you suggested and the flat single action trigger for my SP01 manual safety version, is there any other trigger parts/kits you would recommend? Short reset kit, hammer, spring kit? Thanks for the informative video
I believe those have a firing pin block correct?
@@TheGunBench Yeah. I was thinking of removing that also
That hammer spring pin is much easier to install with the hammer in down position
Reversing back to double action I put the old parts back together but won’t work in double action. Basically have to cock the hammer back every time for it to work. Single fire gun. Any suggestions how to get it back original?
Great video. Thanks. Does this conversion make the single action trigger pull weight lighter? What are the benefits of converting to SAO?
Lighter.. maybe but it’s the change of pull that you notice, when there is hardly no take up it makes it feel lighter than it is. In my eyes this originally is a double action single action gun with a safety not a decocker so unless you want to drop the hammer on a live chamber the gun is meant to be used in Single action. So just get rid of that crappy double action pull and carry on. That’s my thinking lol I love SAO guns and this was one of the best non 1911 SAO triggers I’ve ever felt once it was done.
Basically what I’m saying is unless you are someone who will drop the hammer after it’s loaded then it will always be shot in single action so why not convert it completely and have an amazing trigger. My opinion though
The Gun Bench
Make sense. Thanks for the feedback! I don’t use double action at all. Was looking into converting to SAO to give it a try.
@@TheGunBench I agree, I decocked the gun manually a couple of times, but it scares the shit out of me. One slip of the fingers and those fingers will learn a lesson.
Add to my previous comment. I noticed if I push trigger hard to the right side that it will work in double action… suggestions?
what is the trigger pull weight in SAO
Is the hammer falling when half-installed
does this lower the trigger pull weight at all?
I am looking at getting the optic ready shadow. Do you know if this would work on that model? I am assuming it would but I like my single action guns and am looking to add an optics ready model.
Yeah I don’t see why they would of changed anything
I have really been wanting either a shadow 2 sa or the shadow 2 tactical sport orange single action! I love how it has the gas pedal already on it! And definitely want to get it milled for a rmr! I currently have a cz 75sp01 tactical grey I want milled for a rmr! I just built a full zev polymer80 build just need my rmr. Was a 1300 or 1400$ build. I saved 400 or 500 from using bigdaddyunlimted.com. it's a full zev build awesome and I put the zev fulcrum fully adjustable trigger! It has a 2-6 pound adjustable trigger! Best glock trigger I've tried! I want to try the zev pro flat faced trigger as well probably will put on next polymer80 build
Conversion to SA will only work with slides without a safety block?
Hi, you didn't say anything about the right safety detent. Mine fell out. I looked and it doesn't use a spring on that side it just sits there and holds the right safety and I take it? Thank you for the great video.
Yes no spring as I recall, I messed up in the video and didn’t mention it for some reason
Do you have to remove the disconnector? because I did swap the trigger without removing it and when I put the slide and press the trigger the hammer won’t drop. please help
I ran into the same issue, but even after completely removing the diconnector it still wont drop the hammer…….HELP
Dear,
May I ask if the trigger reset is shorter after installing the new Sao trigger?
I'm asking because, cz has a shadow 2 model in SAO with a blue trigger and the reset is quite shorter like on the standard double action shadow 2.
Would be nice if you could tell that :)
I think that's what the screw on the trigger is for
nice but what was the trigger pull wt before and after? Also, how does the SA pull compare to the TS orange SA? Thanks
Not sure if this info helps 9 months later...I just p/u a Shadow 2 Orange. Out of the box I measured 10 lb 1.1 oz DA. & 2 lb 9.8 oz SA. After installing a Cajun 11.5lb hammer spring (hs-12000) & reduced Power Trigger Return Spring (RTPRS) I Got 6lb 6oz DA & 1lb 12.9 oz SA. That's 3lb 11oz off DA & 12.9oz off SA. Not bad for $14. The reset on the Orange is nice and short!!! Just under 3.5mm
Just realized you were asking about the TS orange. Sorry wrong gun.
nice video. can you compete witgs gun ipsc standard division. thanks
can you do a sar k12 conversion to da/sa?
I wish they let you use single action only in Production Division USPSA. It's dumb that you have to do Limited, Limited 10, Single Stack, or Open division to use a single action gun.
is this applicable to shadow version 1?
Is there a way to shorten the reset ? Thanks
Hey Gun Bench, my trigger pin seems to be flared on both ends. Any advice?
Just stick it through without the trigger and see which way it goes through. If it’s the same pin I have it doesn’t matter it’s just slightly bigger on the ends to help keep it in place
@@TheGunBench I was referring to the original one that the gun came with, but i was finally able to get it out. Thanks for the reply!
I did run into another issue though. I'm not getting a trigger reset 'click', at times the trigger will not activate the hammer, and at times the hammer will not stay back when the trigger is depressed (to test reset travel distance). Do you have any idea as to what's causing this?
Sorry I missed this comment but that’s usually the adjustment screw on the front of the trigger. It’s too far out so it doesn’t allow a proper reset
@@TheGunBench all good, thank you so much!
Is the installation the same for the sp-01?
I saw that CZ e-shop has SA hammers. What is the significance of changing the hammer out?
SA hammer is just missing one hole (for the disconnector) and doesnt really change anything. Competition hammer, however, just makes the SA pull lighter and more crisp break
@@Kalervo80 Thanks for the response!
Installed SAO flat trigger but can't get it to point straight down at 6pm position like yours. Mine now points to 7pm position. Got the top adjusting screw all the way in. Trigger has too much travel b4 the wall. Need advise please. Also bottom screw seems like serve no purpose? Please help to adjust so trigger points straight down to 6pm position with less travel b4 wall. Must have done something wrong. I eagerly await your response for guidance.
Some triggers are different are you sure you have the same sao trigger as mine, the bottom screw is over travel. Basically how far it goes back after the hammer releases. You adjust that after you have your pull where you want it.
@@TheGunBench yes it's the same exact trigger you have. Any suggestions on taking out the extra play before hitting the wall? Am I suppose to screw in the top adjusting screw all the way in?
You have to play with the top screw to limit how far the trigger can forward
The trick was I had to depress the trigger some as I screwed in the top screw. Now I am set and very happy with how it turned out. Thanks for your replies in helping.
Hey man, so I installed the same trigger on my 75 sp01 and now when I put the slide on and pull the trigger it won’t drop the hammer. After inspecting, when the trigger bar gets pushed down something clicks out of place and the whole sear malfunctions. Any idea what could be going on?
Those have a firing pin block lifter did you get that back together correctly? I don’t show it in this video cause the shadows don’t have them. Did you take the sear cage apart
The Gun Bench I did not take the sear cage apart... I didn’t know I needed to haha. I just removed the disconnect and changed out the trigger. Do you know of a video or a walk through on modifying the sear cage? I appreciate it man.
You don’t need to take it apart I was just asking if you did to make sure it was back together correctly.
The Gun Bench oh, well I might just have to take it to a smith then, because I don’t know why it’s not operating properly.
Have you tried putting it back together like factory and see it what it does. You may need to find a sp01 video. They aren’t the same as the shadows. Without seeing it unfortunately I can’t tell what’s exactly going on.
is this trigger is allowed in production category?
That’s something I do not know, this is strictly a range gun for me I’m not sure of competition rules
It is not allowed
so removing the disconnector makes it an SAO?
why not show measure pull wt????
I don't understand the logic behind this conversion to SA when the gun is by default, a SA and the DA is just a feature you want if you need it. Or why not just buy the SA version of Shadow 2 to begin with? Pardon my naivety but am I missing something here?
Does this work on p01? Thank you !
No it does not
Silly question, but will the gun only fire now when you manually cock the hammer? Or can you fire with one short pull (bypassing the D) just like a striker fired gun? I'm asking for multiple shots on target. Thanks.
Well I’m order for a round to be in the chamber you’d have to rack the slide up which would cock the hammer. The double action is no more. The hammer would have to be cocked one way or another
You say for multiple shots on target then yes, every time a shot is fired it will cock the hammer again and be ready to go just like normal. All you are doing with this modification is removing the double action pull.
I can’t get the disconnector pin out to save my life.
Just one question. Why?
Can you SAO a 97B?
If it’s a manual safety gun it’s possible but if it has a firing pin block it either needs removed or the trigger has to be tuned properly. If you didn’t remove it the forward travel of the sao trigger wouldn’t engage the FPB, There’s more to a 97 SAO conversion than there is to the shadow defiantly
@@TheGunBench I see. As I understand, you can SAO the 97B but NOT the 97BD. Just wondering if you could do a video :)
I wish I had an unlimited way to access guns but I don’t unfortunately if I happen to see one for sale or trade locally I’ll try to pick it up, I’ve wanted to try one out for awhile.
@@TheGunBench please do
WARNING!! WARNING!! WARNING!!
Be sure your right side safety detent doesn't fall out and get lost while doing this. It looks like the left side detent but has no spring. It just sets in place and is held by the sear housing. He doesn't mention it in this video.
It's already missing from the start of the video, probably already lost in an earlier disassembly? Caught me when he assembled the right safety, it cannot be inserted that way when the detent is installed...
@@stuntevie Other than that it is a good video. Without it the right side safety will just fall out when firing, but of course you already know that.
triggers still mushy
This CZ would be the best if it was in 45
So you are not actually converting it ,just replacing trigger
Incorrect, it was actually converted, the component that makes it double action was removed and not replaced. Hence, converted to SAO
