- Sylvia Melendez was nominated for a Healthy Pets Game Changer Award by Marie G.
She discovered her love for fostering animals when an abandoned Great Dane named Rosie landed on her doorstep.
For the last five years, Sylvia has been fostering pets in her home and working with rescue groups that focus on different kinds of pets and different breeds.
Fostering Rosie opened Sylvia’s heart to working with animals - not only dogs but cats and other pets as well.
She was also inspired to open her own business, a pet boarding and daycare service called Wagging Tails & Loving Paws that she runs out of her home in Virginia.

I had a bookshop in Ohio wherein shelter cats were fostered and then adopted by customers. More than 50 were adopted from my shop over the years. I then wrote a series of novels about the experience (Shelve Under C is the first) to encourage other shops to look into fostering dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. The business that took over my location continued to foster, thankfully.

God bless you Sylvia. Myself I'm foster mom since 2017 . In our country we have millions of homeless furr babies and shelters are murdering daily for space 💔😭. San Antonio itself kills 1200 animals every month. I hope more people can open their homes and hearts to help rescuers 🙌🐾🙏
Then stop neutering or spaying them , stop over vaccinating them, so that they wouldn’t have so much afterwords health issues.
@@EV13391 I don't understand your comment. Most dogs murdered in US shelters are perfectly adoptable. People have to stop overbreed in back yards and change law in their states. For that first step is in legislation office .

I wish there was a way to stop all the breeding until every shelter dog gets a home. We drove 2400 miles round trip to rescue a dog and ended coming home with 2. It's very upsetting to me when people buy dogs from a breeder. As someone that never had children my dogs are everything to me and my husband.
Because shelters ruined the pets’ health and expect people to adopt them. Who can afford the bill from vets? There’s nothing wrong to buy intact and low vaccinated pets from a certified breeder. They are all pets.
@@EV13391 I think you missed my point not to mention plenty of dog owners do a fine job ruining their pets no matter where they came from starting with the crap dog food they feed them and spaying and neutering before the age of 6.
6 of our 8 dogs came from shelters and didn't have any more health issues than the 2 pure breeds we bought as puppies. 4 of our 8 dogs lived more than 16 years and it wasn't the 2 we bought from a reputable breeder.

Like EE replied.. some people don’t wanna adopt an animal, have them be “everything to them and their husband” only to have their heart crushed when they’re put down soon after 🙃
Instead of complaining about breeding that will never stop, let’s create realistic solutions 🙃 like.. um.. next time CV19 strikes.. and everyone knows they’ll be WFH temporarily.. let’s make sure not everyone all at once goes out and buys every puppy in existence 🙃🙃🙃 or maybe teach people how to be responsible and only get a puppy if they have the time, energy, patience and HEART for it. My pup coulda ☠️ someone when I got him.. 🤣 giving him up was never an option. I was in it for the long haul.. *no matter what.* Did he destroy $6,000 genuine leather couches that weren’t even mine? Learn how to open+clear the fridge out on numerous occasions? Was so aggressive that I’d be missing a finger if he was any older than 8weeks old during the worst bite he ever got in me? Yes yes and yes 🤣 unless you’ve got that kinda dedication - DO NOT GET A PUPPY 💀
Let’s start pushing that kinda stuff and education onto people lmaooo

HI DOC.. LITTLE QUESTION . A VET HERE IN CINCINNATI HURT MY 2 YOMAMMUTE FEMALE AND NOW SHE GETS VERY SICK WHEN SHE JUMPS IN TO THE TRUCK. IS THER EANY HERBS THAT WILL HELP HER OVERCOME THIS. WOULD LOVE TO GO PLACES WITH HER WITH OUT TAKING A BATH IN HER SLIAVE.. LIKE A SAINT BENARD. THANK YOU ... I DO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU TELL US .. NO NO..
