Alundra 2, Chrono Trigger, Live a Live, FF Tactics, Threads of Fate (Dewprism in japan), Legend of Dragoon... I was born in '91. My first console was a NES, but my favorite was the 64. Although 4ish years after getting my beloved N64 I got the PSOne and goddamnit what a charming console with a more charming library. It's funny how different both consoles were. They're like distant cousins with different personalities and character traits. The games looked different (obviously because hardware features and limitations) and that gave them each a different texture. Miss those times. Life was just a neverending play.

@@Nerobyrne That's probably because multiple variations were created and then mixed-and-matched between versions that are more cohesive. That's the proper way to use it, anyway. Just getting away with one generation is pretty lazy, what I tend to do is go through at least 30 to 50 variations of each and then heavily edit them in Photoshop to get the best bits and pieces across all variations.

This is my favorite ambient music. Whatever inspired you guys, keep doing it. Do more of this. I can't put my finger on why exactly. But it instills a shadowy dark fantasy in my mind, with a melodic medley intertwined to sing me a story. It's perfect for roleplaying in the deep dark, gaming in the grim dark, writing, reading, or just... to stare at the wall and think. Fantastic blend, bravo! And I never comment, so that's saying something.
Thanks for showcasing this genre. This release surprisingly doesn't feel too stale even though it has a lot of other ds elements that have been used a million times. The production and arrangement, I think, make it exceptional.
I'm getting crazy 80's-90's vibes with this from when I was younger and played ton of Commodore Amiga 500 videogames back then, listening this whole album is like having a trip back to Commodore Amiga era. Wild how accurate the retro-synths sounds and how well put together this album is, specially the percussion, the lead-pads and some drones, reminds me a lot to the good old Commodore Amiga Samplers and its 28 kHz soundchip. Fantastic job capturing the genuine essence of the sound from decades ago.
Thanks, that means a lot and it's not a coincidence, Amiga 500 was the bomb and I used it with tracker software to make music a ton! Definitely a big inspiration for me playing with trackers and playing old SSI CRPGs.

I can't tell if you're emulating the system or if you're running a genuine Amiga 500 hardware setup (still have mine here), but whatever way it is, it was definitely worth it, granted, you captured the soul of that era. Excellent stuff! I like how it is just dynamic enough without dominating the ear. It grants ambience without the cheap trick of an ever-present airy note that boarders on low grade Tinnitus. The color of the synth feels retro but not exactly dated. The compositions are narrative but only sketched so that they remain abstract. A fantasy surrealist audio journey. My last favorite work of this kind was Tales from Southern Realms by Ziggurath, an absolute gem for my D&D campaign. Mountain Realm - Grayshadow Ruins is defiantly joining the playlist. This whole track feels like the beginning of a really heavy metal song right before the guitar comes in, and the drum starts to hit... accept it never does. Sounds great
Serious Age of Wonders vibes to this album, love this so much! I spent probably real world days designing a map that was basically its own game for the original AoW and loved the sequels, the music to the game as much as anything stands out as a very strong component. If you guys are fans of turn based strategy games check out that series, being able to call down firestorms and earthquakes or floating clouds of pestilence on towns or to exploit the games RPG stats components to make your heroes invulnerable to attacks and or spells was so much fun!

Excellent stuff! I like how it is just dynamic enough without dominating the ear. It grants ambience without the cheap trick of an ever-present airy note that boarders on low grade Tinnitus. The color of the synth feels retro but not exactly dated. The compositions are narrative but only sketched so that they remain abstract. A fantasy surrealist audio journey. My last favorite work of this kind was Tales from Southern Realms by Ziggurath, an absolute gem for my D&D campaign. Mountain Realm - Grayshadow Ruins is defiantly joining the playlist.

This whole track feels like the beginning of a really heavy metal song right before the guitar comes in, and the drum starts to hit... accept it never does.

Serious Age of Wonders vibes to this album, love this so much! I spent probably real world days designing a map that was basically its own game for the original AoW and loved the sequels, the music to the game as much as anything stands out as a very strong component. If you guys are fans of turn based strategy games check out that series, being able to call down firestorms and earthquakes or floating clouds of pestilence on towns or to exploit the games RPG stats components to make your heroes invulnerable to attacks and or spells was so much fun!
