Hey girl , Black rad tech here! My mom always told me “ you’re not the first, and you won’t be the last”. With that said I failed my exit exam twice for the program and passed the third and final time. I failed my first registry attempt with a 74, the hurt I felt when all I needed was one more point to pass. I went back 6 months later and passed with a 78. I say that to encourage you and anyone else to keep going to get those credentials because it’s WORTH it! Good luck and please update us on your journey! ❤
As a black girl in my first semester of RT school it’s so refreshing to see someone who looks like me. Thank you for being so transparent! You’re doing great 🤍
When I first decided to go to rad tech school it wasn’t any black girls on UA-cam making content like this. Fast forward to now and I’m finish with my pre reqs and applying to the program next year so happy to have you guys to look to when I need motivation ❤❤ so happy you made it through your tough times and pushed through so proud of you !!!
A little late here but hey girl! I’m going into fall semester for rad tech and I am also redoing this semester all over again because I failed by a half point last fall. I’m so scared and nervous and love radiology I hope I get through it all. I’m Mexican and was the only Hispanic last fall with one other black girl who actually became my best friend. It’s such an experience being in a mostly white community as a Hispanic girl. We need more brown and black girls in medicine. ✨✨✨
I saw this in my recommended videos and decided to watch. I am a sonographer (21yrs) , but went into X-ray school 1st in the late 90’s. Rad Tech school is NO joke. The time commitment is insane. A lot of prospective students don’t know what they are getting into. However, you do. You are a breath of fresh air. You are humble, and you want to help people. You will go far and will advance this field towards great things. I am glad that you did not give up!😊
I'm currently majoring in Radiologic Technology. I'm so happy I came across your page! There aren't many black women in this field and it's a blessing to find others sharing their experience.
You inspire me, I’m so scared to apply to rad tech school and I don’t see many black girls like me in it because a lot of people say we aren’t smart enough, but I’m going to try and be strong!
I would definitely try someone i know says “do it scared” and that’s something thats helps me even when i feel like my back is against the wall i CHOOSE to get up and keep fighting! Even when it’s hard and I’m confused i choose to keep trying and apply myself so you can do it! You have to have faith in yourself knowing that you are capable of anything you put your mind to! So go be great girl i believe in you
Rarely do I leave comments but I needed to tell you, I APPLAUD YOU! First and foremost, as a Woman of God myself, I know it isn’t easy to continue to have unwavering faith despite your circumstances. Giving God his glory while facing multiple hardships is extremely difficult but nevertheless you did it. He isn’t finished with you yet Mia. Keep striving, keep believing, God is going to bless you. Thank you for the video. We are rooting for you girl ♥️ Joshua 21:45
Mia I'm glad to hear you back in school. Knowledge is power. The second time is the better than the first time because you know how it goes. If God is for you, what is against you. Work is hard but the reward is beautiful. Stay prayed up. Touch your cross. You will get there. God blessing young sister. Peace out
Happy to be going on this journey with you I start RAD TECH school in January I'm currently doing my pre reqs semester 1 online I'll be in the class of 2025 and I'm HERE FOR IT. Can't wait to see us progress and graduate!
Thank you for sharing your story, I literally had similar situations happen to me with the exception of my professors being supportive of me. I applied for the Rad program for 3 years and got in the 3rd try. I failed one test (by a few points) and it made a Domino effect on my grades. In our program, if you fail a test, you can't advance and take the next tests, and ofc, you still have to study the new material and things. I knew I was struggling and literally came to school before the door was open and was there before the professor showed up. Long story short, had a meeting with my professor and it went south. She basically said that I wasn't even trying, and she heard that I was failing my classes (in which at that time, I wasn't failing any classes, but had one failed test), and started to lie on me and saying I didn't care. I even mentioned how I been coming to school early and she had the audacity to say, "well it doesn't matter if you're still not trying". I cried until I couldn't cry anymore. And had to drop the program. So now, I want to apply for sonography, and maybe X ray but at a different school
Oooo no I’m so sorry to hear that! I want to encourage you to not give up ! To keep trying your hard work and dedication will pay off I’m rooting for you💗🤞🏾
It’s so rare that you see black females in this field. I’ve been a Rad tech for 6 months now and it was definitely a challenge. Keep going , don’t give up, YOU GOT THIS🥹Philippians 4:13 | Jeremiah 29:11 ❤️
I’m so proud of you ! Just to see God’s light shine through is so amazing. I admire you resilience and your ability to preserve in the face of adversity. God is using you to answer someone’s prayer. I love you sister ❤
Love to see my black sisters striving and overcoming! How old are you I’m currently starting school this spring. I’m so excited and nervous but I really want this!
You have a pure heart and kind soul, continue to keep God first in all that you do. I'm glad you got back in and continued the journey. Physics is tough but God never said that the weapons wouldn't form against you, he said they won't prosper. All things are possible through Christ! We will graduate in 2024!
This message just popped up while I’m studying for my physics part 2 exam thank you so much ! I really needed to hear that in this moment 🫶🏾🥺 #2024RT(R)
Congrats i believe in you. my graduation date is September 15th 2023. I have rough times in this program. and i came close to failing I’m continue to work hard and strive. god bless you and your future
I passed my registry at the beginning of January and I was delirious off of cold and flu medicine I'm talking the computer was spinning I was so gone but I passed with an 82 first try. The registry isn't that hard but I'd say don't over study because I'm sure that's what trips most people up. I'm about to start my first job tho I'm just waiting on my state license and then I can start
I admire your perseverance in going after X-ray tech school, as well as your faith in God, im feeling kinda overwhelmed in how much college i need to do just to even start an X-ray Tech Program, all i have is my high school diploma and i just found out that i have pre requisites for the the classes that are in the X-ray tech program like taking several Biology Classes and General Education classes too, i want to pursue this career field but working a full time job may not make this feasible maybe there is a way but right now the hardest part is finding a school in my area and researching all of the classes i need in total to get my foot in the door.
I love this video! I’m in my x-ray program and it’s been rough! I have all A’s in my classes but I’m struggling with sims and I know sims is the most important. Even my teacher said how it’s weird how I’m doing good with all my classes and I’m good in physics but sims. He even says how everyone struggles on physics..Isn’t it crazy! I feel like I’m on a thread. You can have all A’s in all classes but if you have a average grade in 1 class you cannot go through or graduate with your cohort. This is our journey & path girl. I’ve been crying too! I cried in front of my teachers, director, classmates. I also helped all my classmates and remained positive. A lot going on in my personal life and I’m trying not to have it in my school life. I’m so proud you pushin through. It ain’t easy!😭 cheers to us girl 💪
Very inspiring message Mia! I needed this! I'm so proud of you for not giving up on school. I recently got accepted to a Radiography program after 2 attempts. Many people don't realize how competitive admissions are to these programs. I'm so nervous about beginning in 3 months. I'm a single mom of 2 kids, so I worry if I'll have enough time and energy to be a good student and a good parent at the same time. I was so glad to hear that you got back into your program. I just found your channel today, and I have God to thank for sending me your words of encouragement. I'm looking forward to following your journey!
I love this and so happy/proud for you! I pray that you have a great support system! I’m not to sure how old your kids are but if they are able to understand that you are embarking on a new journey that is life changing for you and their lives they will be extremely understanding. I’m so glad to hear that my video gave you the word of encouragement you needed. Just remember anything worth having is worth fighting for 💗
Baby as I told you before, this time around you got this❤ you have so many people in your corner that wants to see you win. You’re a fighter and so determined to get what you want, and where you want to be. I have the upmost faith in you, and I know you’re going to be the best Tech ever once you complete the courses. This is your passion, this is where you want to be. God knows it’s where you need to be. he has you, and will see you through. He wants you to win, share your story, I’m positive that it will help inspire others that are planning to go into the field. And it’s okay to cry, you’re human, We stand behind you a trillion plus and beyond❤❤❤❤ We love you baby😘😘😘
Seeing this video helps me and gives me a little push to keep going! I will be applying to a rad tech program for the 3rd time. Thank you for sharing your journey! I’m rooting for you!!
Hi Mia, I ran across your video and I really enjoyed it. I’m also trying to get into the radiography program this year. And watching your video gave me the encouragement to keep going. ❤I will be tuning in on your X-ray journey videos.

So they tell you when you start the program to say good byr to your friends and family. I laughed and was wondering how hard it could be.. My class started with 60 and only 24 of us graduated.
Omg I’m glad I came across your video. I definitely needed to see your video. I applied for the Rad Tech program and didn’t get in. But I’m next and was told there’s still a chance of getting in. If someone decides not to. So it’s just a waiting game right now. I did get to go to orientation just in case.
This video popped up on my UA-cam today I think it’s a sign . This is my second year applying to rad tech programs I pray I get accepted to one this year. Goodluck to you as well❤️
Im starting the radiology program next month and i wanted to say God put me here to watch your video , this wasn’t random. I pray that God guides me as he has guided you. I see the holy spirit through you 🥹 How do you know if God is giving you the yes for this career? That is something i’m struggling with, i pray and pray that i hope this is for me hoping i won’t fail or disappoint.
Mia, your resilience is truly inspiring to watch! You will not be denied by any means my girl! God is on your side and we are all rooting for you and your success! Thank you so much for sharing your story with us and allowing Him to work through you!🤍
I’m a CNA trying to just figure out what I wanna do I’ve been between RN & Radiology technologist I love seeing somebody of color doing this not saying it like that but it’s different when you see someone that looks like you ! Praying for you & that you will get past in school because I know it’s not easy I love the sweat shirt I’m getting me one !
Thank you so much boo! 💗🥹And yes i definitely understand what your saying because me working with black techs it’s so modifying and it gives me the extra push i need.
I know how you feel. I just went through the same thing but in Respiratory. I was sad and I wanted to quit but I had to tell myself i really want this.
@@mia_kayy thank you. What bother me the most about it was that I was so close and was graduating in May but as you stated life happens. I am glad we can relate. Good luck to you as well.
Hi!😂 I'm so nervous and excited at the same time to become one day a RT in the future, and actually, I'm in my last year of junior high school and would do my best in the stem strand next school year. Well, since I was 11 years old, I have been dreaming of traveling and believing that I would be in the medical field. Science was my best subject for the matter, but I chose to become RT since I was intrigued by the fact of images and x-rays. And also, it has to do without contentment with patients because I'm quite shy, to be exact, but I am confident. I hope I can be successful one day, and this video will throw me back to when I will officially be a radiologist or flight attendant soon in the 2030's.🙈😭
I am deciding between nursing, rad tech or dental hygiene and i am leaning towards rad tech but i am so scared I just feel so dumb like it takes me a little bit longer to grasp things and I have terrible memory
Hello What was the interview about for the radiology program. I am done with all my perquisites and they are going to reviewing applications in March. I pray to god that i get a interview with them.
Hey Tyesha ! My school only do an interview process if you are reentering the program. So my interview they were asking me what changes have i made to be successful for the upcoming year. Why i wanted to do radiology.
Hi, I am 44yrs and I 've got Diversity visa 2024 and might be in US next year. I want to be a radio technicians as my career and feel really unsure whether I can do that at my age. Being mother of 3, it would be difficult but really keen to be pursue my dream job in health field. Please advise me to choose on RN and Radio technologist. THANKS
I think you should do some research on both and talk to people who’s in the field. I know both programs are very time consuming. I know nurses deal with ALOT ! And we do as well but not as much ! Since you are a mother it will be more challenges that you face than a regular student however it is doable and you can do it! It will take a lot of hard work and long nights but it will be rewarding and worth it ! Wish you nothing but the best 🤞🏾🫶🏾
Thanks for your reply. It's really encouraging for me. Yeah I 've been doing my research on both fields and seems that being RAD TECH would be more suitable for me in all aspects. Thanks again and will update you back on the way to my dream years later.
@@mia_kayy so you started this journey what year? And finishing now…..I’m asking because I have to start over so your journey is motivating seeing you started over and finally made it ..was starting over easier a little since the material was a bit familiar?
@@NaeemahSivan your fine i saw your tiktok and was on your live! I’m so sorry that happened to you! It was lowkey about the same i knew a lot of information already but since i had to restart after taking 3-4 classes once i got pass those classes it was learning new material
Hey i have a question. I’ve been loooking to get into this career. Would I have to shave my beard for work? And do you have to Wear mask everyday for work?
@@mia_kayy that is the program I am hoping to start trying to get my pre requisites done currently. The intro to Radiology and Imaging classes fill up so fast.

Love love love ittttt!!! Would love to see more radiology related videos! Like day in the life or how you studied and everything! I struggled with college algebra and just applied to my program, prayers I get in the first attempt!!!🥹 also if you don’t mind me asking how do you work at an imagine place without your RT license??
Hi Mia, first time ever seeing a video of yours! I saw it in my recommended and I was like for some reason, I need to watch this. I’m a MRI technologist and girllll I know the program is hard. My cohort dropped to 1/3 at the end! It takes a lot to keep going but your energy and attitude towards rad school is 1000000% what’s going to make you see that light at the end of the tunnel. The way you speak about xray, I know you will go off to do great things and help the patients out there 💕 you can do this. We need you in radiology girl don’t give up! 🫶🏻
Aww don’t cry girl! But I also forgot to add, that instructor you had that told you to take time for yourself, she’s not wrong Mia! You have to take time for yourself and do things that you love that’s not rad related! It’ll be good for your mental health, even if it is UA-cam do a video or take the day to edit and get coffee, little things! UA-cam was what I did and it really helped me take my mind off stuff. Take lots of breaks in between studying too so your mind can process everything properly 🥰

I just wish I knew what I wanted to do!
Thank you so much boo! 💗🥹And yes i definitely understand what your saying because me working with black techs it’s so modifying and it gives me the extra push i need.
Same. I'm a CNA trying to decide what career path to take. I'm torn between RT, Rad tech, or Nursing.
I know how you feel. I just went through the same thing but in Respiratory. I was sad and I wanted to quit but I had to tell myself i really want this.
Yesss Keep going your hard work will pay off. Adversities will come but they won’t last forever. You got this 💗
@@mia_kayy thank you.
What have you decided? Im feeling that way now.
I needed this 😢 thank you
I love that sweater!
Thank you boo i have an esty store with a lot of medical field merch

Thank you so much!
No problem 😌
Any tips for struggling students 😢, I’m 9 weeks in. We’re learning about Foot, toes, ankle. Test anxiety always gets me
Hello
What was the interview about for the radiology program.
Hey Mia! What do some of the people in the comments mean when they say "hopefully I get in" how do you get in? Is it the TSI exam ? Please reply 🙏
Look at god! Congratulations beautiful, you got this!!!
Thank you love 💕
I’m interested in being an rad tech but don’t know where to start
How is OR? What if the procedure takes 7 hours? You there the whole time?
You are there the whole time i had a little stool i sat on but some people stood the whole time! I’ll make a video over my clinical experience so far
When you reapplied did you start over or you picked up where you left off?
@@NaeemahSivan i had to start over unfortunately!

What school did you get your training from?

@@mia_kayy that’s okay! I’m sure you are definitely busy! With school, work, UA-cam and your personal life! Enjoy it girl!
How many consecutive vacation days do you get your first year on the job as a rad tech?
I’m unsure it depends on your company but maybe week or two
@@mia_kayy Thank you Mia!
Omg not you having me crying thank you sooooo much for your words of encouragement 🫶🏾💗
Honestly, just THANK YOU so much Mia!! Can't put it into words.🤎
No problem at all 🤍🤍
