I used to be a Surgical Tech but left the field. Such an under appreciated field. My hands started hurting after all the retracting i had to do....and hours of standing. Couldn't imaging doing that until retirement...no thank you.
Starting my 2nd rotation tomorrow. Do you know any STs that have advanced their career to either SA, PA or even AA? I am enjoying my clinical experience but do have some concerns about salary long-term. Are you looking into traveling in the future?
yes, I am preparing myself to travel once my contract is up for more money and to explore. I love traveling and having the opportunity to do it for more money I'm up for the challenge.
@showers22 my advice to you is make sure your are going to a school that is accredited and will transfer your credits to further your education. If you want to get paid more stay in school...usually techs go back to, or are in school to become a RN.

yes but you have to get experience first before traveling . no one takes a travel position right out of school .
