- Mark William Calaway on March 24, 1965, in Houston, The Undertaker is a former American professional wrestler. He is a current holder of two Guinness book of world records!
He is currently retired from the WWE, where he had worked since 1990, making him the company's longest-tenured in-ring performer. Holding the streak for most wins at WrestleMania, Calaway began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1987. After wrestling for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as "Mean" Mark Callous from 1989 to 1990, he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, later WWE) in 1990. In WWE, The Undertaker is a seven-time world champion, having won the WWF/E Championship four times and the World Heavyweight Championship three times, as well as the winner of the 2007 Royal Rumble. He is recognized as the fourth youngest WWF/E Champion in history, having won the championship aged 26 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

For two people that have seen Mark Callaway's entire career, I can say my father (God Bless his Soul) liked the American badass better and I preferred the Undertaker so the comeback was bittersweet for both of us. In the end we can both say that we loved Mark.

The American badass was definitely not a waste of time old gimmick was getting a little stale he switched up the character n once the badass gimmick was starting to get stale he went back to the old gimmick but modernized it. Mark always knew when to pull back n make changes for the better which is why taker is one of if not the greatest gimmick ever

As much as the original deadman was iconic and there's never been anyone like him before or since. The american badass/big evil gimmick was a humanised version of the undertaker, and he let loose. There's a point in a wrestlers career where you need to cut the shackles off@RickyBritt-kj6yb

I loved the original Wild West mortician version of the Undertaker. He was spooky, but in a classic horror movie sense. He was the monster that used his powers for good.
I hated the "Ministry of Darkness" phsse. As a Christian, I saw this as radically different. It was no longer just make-believe spooky stuff, but actually glamorizing real Satanic themes.
The American Badass biker persona was all right. I would have preferred an old-school metal song about motorcycles for the entrance theme. Something like Judas Priest's "Hell Bent For Leather." Although I can understand the WWE's desire to market their product with current hits, and "Rolling" wasn't too bad.
The one consistent factor throughout all of these phases, however, was Mark Callaway's athletic skills and great showmanship. He always put on a great match. To this day, the Undertaker is one of my favorite wrestlers.

I think the American Badass was absolutely necessary to keep Takers career going. The Undertaker character was getting a little stale and didnt fit in with the Attitude Era. And then after so many years people wanted the Undertaker back as the Deadman so it allowed to character live on much longer in my opinion.
