The sarcasm drips from your words so eloquently. So wry, yet so subtle while so humouress.
I salute you.
I remembered the time when Maria was forced to wrestle Umaga on a Raw storyline. She said in an interview that he was one of the few people she liked to be in a ring with. She also said he was very gentle on the ring and made sure she was ok and not injured. What a gentleman. RIP Umaga you will surely be missed.
just like his Yokozuna was always a gentle person in the ring.
@@0fficialdregs Yeah I just rewatched his (Umaga) match with Maria. He was keeping a close eye on her after he delivered a Samoan Drop. He was making sure that she was still ok when he’s about to do the Running Butt safely. I might also add props to Maria for taking sick bumps like that.

All the names that are listed in the video will never be forgotten by us fans. RIP to all of these legends. 🙏
Not gonna lie, I had completely forgotten about Kanyon. I wonder if his struggles out of the ring, his depression and later his subsequent suicide, was a result of how Vince and the WWE as a whole treated him and the other WCW talent. Could explain why the company only acknowledged it through a little blurb on their website instead of on tv. Like the video said, Kanyon had the wrestling chops and was making moves in WCW prior to the merger. Then the McMahons purchased WCW from Ted Turner and pretty much every one of the WCW wrestlers got screwed over, except Booker T. Who was willing to stand up for his character’s sake. I’m glad Sting didn’t make the switch after the acquisition, because I’d have hated seeing the WWE treat Steve Borden’s persona like crap. Sting has said he doesn’t regret not making the jump, because he was fearful McMahon would have done just that. DDP has even said he wished he had walked away with his guaranteed contract through WCW instead of being involved in the invasion. Vince and the WWF did a lot of damage to the careers of a lot of former WCW wrestlers after they bought WCW. Whether on purpose, by thinking they know all, or a combination of both, the WWF/WWE pissed all over the careers of a number of talented WCW wrestlers with how they handled those characters during the invasion. Jericho was lucky he decided to jump ship after his WCW contract was up long before WCW was sold to the McMahons. I’d hate to think what might have been had he joined the WWE after the WCW acquisition and he had been a part of the invasion angle. The Ayatollah of Rock-n-Rolla might never have been what he became. Joining when and how he did allowed him a lot more freedom than what the former WCW wrestlers got when the invasion angle took place.

Hard to say if some of them were "ignored" or if their deaths just slipped under the WWE's radar. It's a 24/7 business with no off-season, and it's not like they wake up everyday and check to see if anyone in the wrestling world has died. If it's a lesser name, then the news of there death isn't even going to make most news outlets. That said, they should have definitely known about a few of these guys and given them the proper sendoff.

Says a lot about wrestling too.
I met Hercules in Detroit Michigan at Metro Airport back in the 80's. I was just a kid but I recognized him right away. I remember letting go of my dad's hand and walking towards to Hercules. I asked him if he was really Hercules and he said, "I am sure kid. There's a lot of us in town this weekend." I talked to him for about 3 minutes and thanked him for talking to me, and wished him luck in his match. I walked back to where my dad was and I saw Kerry Von Erich sitting at a bar. He was having some whiskey, he was wearing sunglasses and had a black eye. I walked up to him and asked him if he was the Texas Tornado himself. He looked at me, pulled his glasses down to look me in the eyes and he said, "Every day buddy. I met so many wrestlers that day. Tony Atlas, Hogan, Rowdy Roddy, Junkyard Dog, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat,..... Every single one of them treated me like I was welcome and appreciated.
This seriously made my whole day. Those were my childhood heros

@@chrisa8283 it was a highlight of my young life. Not a single one of the two dozen wrestlers I talked to that day made me feel like a pest or that I was bothering them. For the most part, I was the only person who approached any of them in the airport. But out of all of them, Hercules was the absolute coolest. Meeting him was like meeting a comic book hero. He wasn't really real to me until I met him and shook his hand. He signed my shirt, Roddy Piper signed my shirt, Kerry Von Erich signed my shirt, Junkyard Dog, The Dragon,.... I had 2 dozen autographs on my shirt of all of my wrestling heroes. Unfortunately, that was before camera phones.

WrestleLamia cares more about wrestling than Vince McMahon. Sad indictment of the WWE right there - but shows how great his channel is !
Vince doesn't care about wrestling. He only cares about every thin penny that he can squeeze out of wrestling.
That's very ignorant to say given wrestling lives on mostly because of his influence.
@@heyzeushoards1405 Wrestling was destroyed owing to McMahon. He purchased the territories. We would still have the NWA, if we still had the territories that comprised it - but McMahon bought them, nearly all. The WWE is single handedly responsible for the destruction of wrestling, because as their ratings went down, so did the entire product. If everyone figured out that the UFC was a work, it would be destroyed too.
WWE is a fuckin disgrace to wrestling
@Scott Robinson no, he's not. McMahon is responsible for nearly destroying the entire industry, and it only exists today in spite of him, not because of him.

Love the 10 bell salute at the end of the video, Umaga became one of my favorite wrestlers when I was a kid and realized that WWE was just a show. I miss him and his character. I love the honor and respect you show to these performers especially the salute at the end.
Umaga, as stated in the video, was definitely the biggest recent star (probably along with R-Truth) to never win the title. It wasn't like he was someone who was barely on TV but he was a legit star so it's mind blowing why they never mentioned his passing on TV
When I was a kid, I remember watching 'Chyna' and thinking she was the coolest ever as she was the first WWE (WWF when I was a kid) female wrestler who was in the ring with the boys. And I remember the controversy years later when I heard about her passing and how the WWE refused to acknowledge her until fans called them out and then they gave her a half-assed tribute.
God, 🙏 YEesWWE
No joke, as a kid I thought they got Xena and I was so stoked😂 Chyna was and still is my fave. She was so cool❤
Giving the bell at the end of the video was pure class! It doesn't matter what circumstances end a superstar's life. What matters is that when they were in the ring, they gave it their all! And we should acknowledge that and show appreciation for that, and the struggle they went through to give us, the fans, that level of performance.
I agree. They still left their mark.
They don’t acknowledge them as it makes their industry/company look bad as if it drives them to drugs. Welcome to life in a capitalist’s world !!
Same why sports companies don’t talk about the bankruptcies and divorces of its stars.
Respect Wrestlelamia, for ringing the bell for the departed. That was beautiful
6:29 I literally had no idea whatsoever he passed away. I feel embarrassed that I’d forgotten that Crash Holly is sadly no longer with us but as for Test, I literally had no idea until I watched this video. He was fantastic to watch and I have some great memories of him from what I considered to be the best era of the WWF/WWE. 😢
I never understood why they ignored Test and Umaga deaths at the time.
They both died of drug overdoses. WWE did not want to bring attention to that.
Others also died because of Drugs and they still didn't ignore it...
Especially when Umaga died, I was surprised that WWE didn't do anything. Wwe and Umagas family go way back and have so much history together.

She died? Wow

They never mentioned Chyna
Based on what Jericho gave about Umaga, I don't think they were really "ignoring" any of these deaths. I honestly think in most part since a lot of these deaths were after Chris Benoit and since they were either suicides or accidental ODs, I think they just wanted to tred carefully about if they should acknowledge them or not and if they did, how they should go about it.
In Viscera's case, his may have been motivated by backstage politics since, in his first run as Mabel he broke The Undertaker's face and broke Diesel's rib cage, a lot of the wrestlers didn't like working with him and thought he was still too stiff even after all his repackagings and, since they were repackaging him again & again they had been giving chance after chance but in the end they got unbearably fed up with him.
They thought enough of Viscera to keep bringing him back despite those cases.
Another big man that was real slow in the ring.A few of the these guys were just tragic.Period.
If some of the deceased wrestlers of the 2000s were still alive today, they would be world champions, backstage employees, managers or join commentary
Considering he was part of the legendary Anoa'i family WWE not recognizing Umaga is even more shocking
R.I.P Umaga, poor guy. He was one of my favorites and it saddened me a lot to see how he wasn’t acknowledged.

R.I.P. to all the great Superstars we lost along the way 🥺🙏🏾🕊️🕊️
You my friend, created a tribute these men deserved. Class act!
Bro,you made a beautiful tribute for these men. And I know they saw it, and they thank you.
Thank you sir, for doing what Vince couldn't and wouldn't do. You paid homage and respect to the men that the WWE chewed up and spat out. Respect, my good man.
WWE Killed Shawn Ohara... The guy was championship material, vince got him, gave him a shot with roddy, it was working... then they release him. Ya... Pretty low blow
Umaga’s Jeff Hardy feud was fantastic. I remember it well.
Yes and his feud with Bobby Lashley and Cena also
Any wrestler that has entertained us, will never be forgotten.
The Lashley vs Umaga cage match is one of the best cage matches I have seen
This was an amazing video. It brought me great sadness but happiness at the same time; being able to honor these wrestlers is a gift for us wrestling fans born in the 80s and raised in the 90s. Thanks.
Had no idea Crash had died, figured he'd just retired. RIP, always liked him.
Same here man RIP
Crash went through one of my coworker’s closets when he was a kid because he was looking to buy the house
Same here.
Same
Thank you for the 10 bell salute at the end.
even though they may have passed away, the fans among our generations will never forget their legacy and careers.
Regardless of how they passed away, every wrestler should be given the respect and recognition they deserve. They give so much to the business and some give everything, they should be honored.
At least this channel paid homage. Mad props and RIP to all of the entertainers mentioned
Remember them. Say their names, shed tears, and remember. Do what we can as fans to keep their legends alive.
It's a little hard to be an older fan seeing the dark side of pro wrestling come to light. Could any of us have seen it at the time? Could we have helped in some way? It's ridiculous to feel this way considering how old I was at the time, but a little bit of guilt always pops up when I hear about the tragedies that affected so many of the athletes I used to watch.
We shouldn’t say anyone on this list should’ve been acknowledged more then the other, rip too all and thanks you for entertaining us.
Thanks for the video. These men and others like them gave me so much joy when I was a kid. Much respect
You know, it's very much worth watching the MTV True Story segment, that was done on WWF wrestling, and the first couple of wrestling HHH & Chyna.
You see truly how much they were together, the irreplaceable LOVE they shared, and a real look inside/behind the scenes of how the wrestling business really works! It's worth the watch. But, as it explains, when you trade in your identity, to become a wrestling personality, to about the entire world, that's who you are 100% of the time, and for the rest of your life. And the wrestling business, MUST acknowledge that fact! And showing that little bit of acknowledgement SHOULD be a mandatory effort, by them! It doesn't matter how long or cut short anybody's stint in wrestling was. They're a BIG company, and it's the VERY least they should do. They ruin lives, like Chyna. They ruin bodies, like Mick Foley, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, ect, ECT, ect. They aren't above ANY of the reasons or ways that former wrestlers pass away, infact THEY are directly connected! Giving a tribute is the VERY LEAST they should do. Even though, I haven't watched wrestling in years, I still watch it daily, and my house remains a shrine for the "attitude" era, and especially Chyna. I still want Chyna and Debra Marshall (McMichael) inducted in the oh so prestigious Hall Of Fame.
And although, I wasn't a huge Chris Benoit fan, he ruined is body, and brain performing for the company. Eddie Guerrero doing his signature dive; over the top rope, landing on his head, neck, and shoulders definitely put irreversible damage and stress on body; hence dying on heart conditions. Eddie and Chris Benoit were very close, and I think that began the downward spiral of Chris Benoit. Besides, years of such technical wrestling, and having to hit headbutts/chin jabs from the top turnbuckle, had caused irreversible damage, especially to his head. Steroids, pain medications, and the depression disorders from having them conditions, easily can cause overdosing, or uncontrollable actions. A lot of men wrestlers require anger management during, and often after their careers. It's also omitted, that Nicole Bass passed away in 2017. She had a short-lived stint in the WWF, coming in as Sable's bodyguard at the end of Sable's 1999 career, and they put her as a woman obsessed with Val Venis, and had her as his manager until they let her go, or she quit. I'm not sure which way that ended, but I think what turned WWF adamantly against her, was that she attempted to do as Sable did, and sue the business for abuse and sexual harassment. Although, she was unsuccessful, it just got her more insulted by the company.
But, as short lived as her career was, it's STILL what she's known for. There was no escaping it. And regardless, of their opinions and attempts to distance themselves from any former wrestler who gave up their identity, to be a character for them, they should at least acknowledge and honor the person. At the end of the day, they're human beings, and EVERYBODY has their own stories, lives, and reasons for what they've done, how they looked, and what could have happened to them...
I didn't know Test's passing till now. Rest In Peace legend.
One of my fav matches of his.. test vs brock lesnar
That’s why I haven’t watch him the old ones
I didn't know he passed till I seen this

There are a couple exceptions on the list but there is a definite pattern to those that were not acknowledged: drugs and/or suicide. It is sad but it seems like they have a pretty consistent stance on those situations.
It has nothing to do with drugs it's who is best for publicity and who the company liked and ratings the WWE has drug addicts and guys who died of overdoses in the Hall of fame they have publicly mourned guys who were addicts and guys have died of overdoses it's all politics
@@babesofwrestling8463 K. I was just pointing out the pattern I saw.
And majority of those victims are not even 50.
@@tattoodude8946 apologies If that sounded aggressive was just pointing it out to you
@@babesofwrestling8463 No worries and thank you for coming back just to say this. I really appreciate that. We can definitely use more civility on the internet! Have a good day!
As a kid I didn't liked Umaga but years passed and I realized how talented he actually was, he played the heel role so good and very agile for his size. I wished he actually became a world champion in his career. RIP all these great wrestlers
Every wrestler that passed through that company should be given a 10 bell salute on TV. "But we would have to start every show if we did that" is what they would say. Good, maybe people would notice how dangerous this business is mentally and physically to all of the wonderful people we cheer for.
Matt Bourne as Doink, I used to watch his dad wrestle here in the PNW & watched Matt wrestle here also. I remember having wrestling on the television one Saturday evening & he went up in the “crow’s nest” to introduce his karate instructor, he said the guy’s name & I ended up about 6” away from the the tv, yup, it was the guy I’d known since the 5th grade!!
Thank you for giving them the recognition they deserve
Test was one my favourite super stars growing up through the Attitude Era. I always think of Test when i saw Big Cass. R.I.P
