Most people have gone through their life not questioning their belief. It is really hard for them to realize that they have been wrong for a very long time.
Very true. And sad to be honest. Religion has literally fucked up everything
That's true !! this is the biggest parameter for me to measure rationalism can you go extra step and put extra effort to challenge your belief. Sounds easy but that's damn difficult then we have confirmation bias, egocentric bias etc. but still we can learn, unlearn and improve.
Or it is just their ego or arrogance that comes into play
They just don't want to or can't accept that whatever they were believing in all their life is a lie/false/myth/imagination.
They say i m an intellect , how can one dupe me , how can i be wrong , no no i can never be wrong in what i believed all my life ; it's them who are wrong and spreading propaganda to tarnish my faith

It is heart breaking to see he doesn't see flaws in his own argument. But then again, most of us don't when we are arguing out of emotion and just like anything it takes a lot of practice to question our belives and to think rationally.

पहले मुझे भी लगता था दुनिया इतनी परफेक्ट है ग्रेविटी, मौसम वगैरह परंतु जब SJ Sir और human with Science को सुना तो सभी डाउट clear हो गए । यहाँ कुछ भी perfect नहीं है केवल एक इत्तेफाक है की इतने बड़े universe मे पृथ्वी habitable बनी और इंसान का ईवोलूशन हुआ ।
ये बिल्कुल वैसा ही है फुटपाथ पर एक चींटी सही सलामत जिंदा चल रही है और कुछ नहीं कह सकते की किस पल मे किसी का पैर उस पर आकार पड़े और सब खत्म, चींटी को भी मुगालता होता होगा की उसकी दुनिया बहुत सही है

When someone believes something to be absolute truth they can't even comprehend the idea of questioning it! When somebody else questions their belief they think 'how can one question this absolute truth?' it takes lot of energy and reasoning to come to terms to the idea that what you believe to be absolute truth may not be true at all. Very few spend such energy to reason their fundamental beliefs to be able to come to the point of rationality. Rest become passive defensive while not engaging in any reasoning but still believing how can one question what they consider the absolute truth.
Hes actually on a good path (can't say if it's the right one yet), he just needs to dig deeper
their book says earth is flat/ spread like a carpet. Vimoh shud have brought that up instead of saying the sky is in shape of a dome over the earth.

The biggest parameter for me to measure rationalism is .. can you go extra step and put extra effort to challenge your belief. Sounds easy but that's damn difficult then we have confirmation bias, egocentric bias etc. but still we can learn, unlearn and improve. I can clearly see sameer now but truth is that at some point of time we are were like him and maybe even today some part of me is like sameer. But good thing is that I am quite sure that sameer is likely to challenge his belief the way he engaged ... he has allowed other to challenge his belief !! and if he keeps exploring like that I'm sure one day he would likely challange his belief.
I am happy at least people are questioning their beliefs and religion. This questioning mindset will lead to logical and scientific temper
Sameer is frustrating if you want him to look at his beliefs objectively. But he is funny if you really don't care about what he is saying.

Good discussion respecting each other
It had been a disgrace in the past when Beliefs were made so strong... that every thing that was done, is in the name of god... And the impacts are clearly on the today's humans too... whose belief are still strong and would fight for its protection... In the Wake of overpowering the religon, the humans have forgotten the basic core of humanity... Still a long time to be freed from the belief system when people will be rational enough to judge the things appropriately

Sameer seems to be very nice person, but it is too late to correct his thinking process. Agreed, it is the influence of every religion from the time a kid takes birth. Same in every religion. People have started thinking that science books and religious books are same. No, it is not. Science books have been written based on facts and evidences, and after immense research. I feel sad to think that religious people undermines such effort behind of science books. Fact is, number of rational people is decreasing throughout the world. In India, may be it is in few hundreds or lesser.

Science is always "changing". Religious text have things common with scientific findings. Science will keep "changing". So, the commonality between religious text and scientific findings wont remain.

Hi Vimoh , i want to ask you something, what's your view on Swami Vivekananda, and disciples of his vedanta society having experience of god in deep meditation, how they came to the conclusion that what they are experiencing is god ? They also give the meditation processes by which you also can experience God ???? Also , is concisness is a fundamental property of universe and not a part of our body and mind or Consciousness is evolutionary and emergent from the properties of our brain ????
Vimoh has no idea about such thing and most probably according to him Vivekananda was a bum and he was hallucinating.
About Consciouness, whether it is fundamental or emergent? All the top scientist are still debating about this right now. No conclusion yet. All you can do at the moment is to choose your side according to your believe.
According to Advaita Vedanata, one of the branch of Vedanta. Consciouness is fundamental.
Bernardo Kastrup , Don Hoffman are some scientist who are leading the reasearch on consciouness is fundamental.

The pattern that I hv observed is that people like sameer are not able to live with "existential crisis" hence they fall back to religion as that gives you sense of security. Its like you feel you will be preserved forever ! ( though all these are false hopes)

Quran says that Allah has raised the sky without any external support...........Now sky is not a tangible thing, it is a mere space, it says we are reducing the edges of the earth.........round object doesn't have any edges.............it says we have laid the earth like a carpet.........Again round objects cannot be 'laid'...............it says we placed moutains like pegs on earth lest it should shake...........mountains are not 'placed' but emerge beneath the surface of earth as a result of collision of tectonic plates............it says Allah first created earth, produced vegetation and then shifted his focus towards heaven...........this is idiotic and nonsense..............it says meteorites are infact missiles thrown at Satan..............Carnage of science is self explanatory in Quran................

Vimoh how does universe come into existence? It started somewhere you believe bcz universe is expanding. I agree. But what was before it started? Nothing? So what’s the cause of this effect?
I wonder that very few people are asking religious people to give formula of string theory or dark matter, or dark energy, or quantum gravity by reading their religious books.

I think people believe in afterlife because they can't handle the fact the we all are going to die at some point and nothing more will come out of it. Basically they want the experiences that we have to continue forever. I think it's just greed. :)
This is the typical argument where people say that your science will catch up and eventually conclude what the scripture has already written down for us to follow.
Also, there is this affinity to authority which can tell us what to do instead of making your own definitions. After all who doesn’t like to be a little lazy ;)

Okay 1 think to point out to those who says "Evolution is just a Theory" then yes it is. But what does it mean? Do you know that?!
In science the "Theory" is the highest form of facts that is proven by multiple tests and observations. You say "Theory of something" in general and yes you are correct that "It's just a thory" but in science "Theory" means it has been proven and well agreed by everything we see or whoever test those.
I just found out this channel and I loved it because he accept that he doesn't know about GOD so I don't know but just you or someone or some book say "The GOD is there" without evidence or ovservation I'm not accepting it. And that's rational thinking and I love it.
To those again who might say "Its just a theory" remember next time "Thoery" in science is well proven with facts and supported by many many evidences.

People are trying to make him believe in God.. let him be.. OR GIVE HIM A SOLD PROFF THAT GOD REALLY EXIT.. . And then they will say their religion is the only true one all the other are not.. but no one ever given any proof of their religion being the only the true one.. I do believe in waheguru ( creator of the universe ) but I don't go around and trying to make people in believe what I believe in.

then he has to fing excuses/others ways to prove his point.....such as saying miracles can happen/or saying that the sentence can be metaphorical/ or that u align ur culture and say atheism is in our history and fake claim about atheism

Faith consists of logic
If you believe in God, then you surely believe that gods creations are permanent. If God created Adam and Eve ( or any other 2 people) what were their races? How did 2 people end up producing people of so many races? Did they evolve over time? So is it evolution or is it creation? If they did, then creation is not permanent and then god is not all powerful as claimed. Also, who created god? If everything needs a creator, then how can we accept that a creator can magically appear out of nothing?

i can give one scientific contradiction.
in quran 86:5-7, it states that semen comes from an area between backbone and ribcage. now this is obviously false since we know that semen is a mixture of seminal plasma and sperms. sperms are formed by meiosis in testis, and seminal plasma is the combination of all the secretions by accessory glands.

He is a doctor who knows what Evolution and Natural Selection is yet he calls it a theory. Evolution has so much evidence. He is no Doctor, He is no Muslim as well, he is just a clown who doesn't know anything about basic Scientific Concepts
