Good info at the beginning of the video, which clearly explains the difference between dry and wet sprouts upon purchase
Hi david mok, thank you for the comment 😀 I'm happy that you found it useful 😀
Good to hear removing the roots was optional, such a pain in the ass. Great video G
Hi Mimi Koko, hahaha, yes - it is optional 😀 Many would remove it so their dishes would look prettier, but it saves a lot of time if the roots are not removed. 😀
I s my first time to buy beansproits and dont know how to clean it.. This vodeo helps a lot.. Thank u❤️

oh my gosh, I thought you had to remove the top part of the sprout, AND the root! You can leave both on. o_o See, I was going to give up eating bean sprouts at home because prep was so absurd but turns out, it was all my fault for misunderstanding! Thank you!

Thank you, it was very useful! I’ve seen in Korean doramas that they chop off roots of soy bean sprouts, so I wanted to make sure I grow and it my mind bran sprouts correctly. Now I’m assured roots are edible)
Hi Anastasia, thank you for the comment 😀 Yes, usually the roots are removed for a more aesthetically-pleasing dish as the roots are slightly brown in colour compared to the white stems. If you are interested, I also have a video on how I grow mung beans 😀 Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/ZnCM3Ag2Kq4/v-deo.html Hope it helps 😀

Hi Mabrigida Santiago. Thank you for the comment. Glad to hear that 😀😀
Does it matter if the water is cold or hot?
Hi Frank LOW. Yes, it matters. I recommend using the cold water as the hot water might cook the vegetable by the time it is done washing. 😀
You could use a bigger strainer.
Hi Brad Moran 😀 Thanks for the comment
So we basically just rinse them 2-3 times and take the shells off. Am I understanding correctly?
@melissa47550. Yes, water help to separate the bean sprout and the shells so it will be easier to remove the shells.
What about the risk of bacteria? Don't we need to cook it? Will it become soft then though? Will hot water under the sink be enough? And will that make them limp and not crunchy?
Hi Munchichi. Thank you for the questions. The beansprouts can be eaten cooked or raw. For me, I usually I will do both. If having it with noodles soup I like it crunchy so I will wash it nicely and then put the raw beans pouts in the noodle soup. Sometimes, I will cook it and have it with rice. It is depending on the individual how to consume it, some people will always cook it to ensure it is safe from germs/bacteria. Personally, I think 80% of the beansprout is water so if needed it crunchy has to be eaten raw, and once cooked, it will surely limp and not crunchy. I hope this helps 😀😀
@@HomeCookingwithSomjit thank you. I like it crunchy also, for pho. But I do worry about bacteria and not sure if washing it in hot water is enough to kill it.🤔
It is ok to eat the green shells right?
@aniyahdilovelilioness747. Yes, it's ok, but usually we try to take it out as much as we can. Thank you so much 😀😀
@@HomeCookingwithSomjit Is it OK to eat them raw on salad?
Thank you, great information but I wouldn't be cleaning each & every beansprout as I have a life.! lols
Hi JUNAID Qazi 🇬🇧. Thank you for the comment. Glad that you find it a great info. Have a great life 😀😀 😀

Hi Md Hasibur, yes you are 😄 Thank you for the comment 😄
why can't the supermarket do this for us?
Hi jamie sedgefield. Most of the shop will clean it for customer, however not all are thoroughly clean. Hence we have got to clean it before cooking it. 😀😀
I was hoping to short cut roots, so time consuming. Great video though
Hi Jason Stone, thank you for the comment 😀 Yes, sure. The roots can be left attached as well. Personally, I would not remove them if I'm pressed for time. The only difference it makes is the appearance of the dish. Hope it helps 😀
