i really just care about my surroundings...the neighbourhood seems decent and nice, plus i could meet up with friends outside of the apartment.Its already clear the apartment is not for families, but for people who just want to be by themselves and in a warm cozy location,like the opposite of claustrophobia.Also i'm sure they have ventilation installed.I would personally want this more then a three floor house in the woods or an isolated house, in my opinion being around more people is more safer then a house 30 miles away from the nearest neighbor.
calm down, no one is being forced to live in the apartments i'm just saying that there are reason why people live in these apartments.I don't think you'd be able to even bring a family in the house...Melly said there is max of 3 people and that seems reasonable.
Japanese really don't care much about the environment, as their companies have been some of the most rapacious of any on earth during the last 50 years, and they pave and build everywhere. Personally, I enjoy their freedom to build and destroy. But yes, they profess to love the environment.
that little loft bed space is so cool. That's my dream bedroom as a kid, if I knew it existed when I was little I would have asked my parents to build it
True.for the same amount of money everyone pays in tokyo for a little apartment,you can have a BIGGER apartment in a semi-rural area or not so crowded area...
Di Blasi People move where jobs are and not everyone wants to lose the luxury of bigger cities (entertainment and get everything when they want) Who wouldn't love lots of space and fresh air, with a garden next to an open field and the big city just around the corner xD
Thank you for your suggestion about the rug burn!! I left my blowdryer on!! I like how my apartment in Korea seemed a bit more open. I also had a spectacular view of the city and I was able to purchase nice furniture for my year there! But because I am only here for 3 months my apartment came furnished and I sleep on the floor on a futon!! My apartment in Japan is much quieter though than in Korea. So that is nice. I was also lucky that in Korea I had a gym in the bottom floor and a mailbox
Many people complain about how tiny a Japanese apartment is but personal I think they are just not used to the size of it I don't know about other countries but in America the apartments are way bigger and I think that's why most Americans who live in a Japanese apartment think its really tiny and personally I really like the size of the apartment it looks cozy and I keeps reminding you that u have to clean up every now and then

Enoshima is where my Grandfather In Law had his home. It was near the river a few blocks from the beach... We also stayed at Leopalace21 but in Kagohara...good price for the space. We were just one hour north of Tokyo and more rural. For 50m2, it was $700 a month. We had a two story townhome, small backyard, and a dumpster for our trash. It's different in the rural areas. We didn't have a bidet or the warming fan - our clothes had to dry in the mini backyard on the line. We got most basic items like a broom at the 100 Yen store. We also went to Costco in Iruma by renting a car. It was a Sunday and crazy... We are going back for 6 months next year but are using minimini to find a house to rent. You need to know Japanese to read the website. BTW, you committed one major faux pas...you need to air your futon on the line every day. It dissipates the sweat...;0)
Just was wondering whatever happened when they did the apartment check-did they find the burnet spot on the carpet??? Do you think it would have been better to be honest and tell them what happened and pay for the repair? I hate to say it, but it as pretty difficult to hide-as much as I would have wanted to cover it up, I think I would have told them and paid for the repair. Surely they have extra carpet, and it should have been an easy repair-I have done it myself on my own carpets (at my parents house when a friend burnt the carpet with a cigarette. My parents never found out about the repair-LOL).
Actually as long as it isn't snowing at that moment most clothes dry faster in winter, If you do it right. The cold air dries super fast. Though you need to mitigate the original wetness levels to avoid freezing solid in the northern climates. so depends a bit on where I guess
the place is so familiar to me because i used to lived in sagamihara kanagawa ken before 2003 feb until may the apartment we use to stay near the bus station the bus no we use to ride from sagamihara to upper area is bus 17. i use to work in autoliv japan in atsugi
I am actually in Sagamihara now. We arrived on the 25th and will leave on the 27th. I can't say that I like this city, actually. It's pretty close to America, or as close as Japan will get, I think. How long did you stay here?
your neighbourhood looks cool. i think a small apartment can look nice when you put a plant in there and just a little decoration (it would be too cramped otherwise). but yours is kinda expensive in my opinion.

I am an Army brat. I spent 12 years traveling around Europe. Sometimes you had a huge place to live and some times it was small. Most Americans are spoiled by the huge size of America and do not have a clue how limited space is around the world. For instance the 48 main States in America are 43 times the size of Great Britain. All of Western Europe could fit diagonally across the USA and only take up about 1/2 of America. So we used to everything being huge. It is just culture shock.

Thanks for sharing that view, reminds me of a former co worker from Japan who moved to Fresno, Ca for school & work. He has to maintain full time work on visa status. Now he's back home to Japan. This is a nice video and you're brave to be there by your self.....great experience right.

That rule only applies if you're living with a family. If you're living alone, you can do whatever you want. Soap in the tub, whatever. The rule only applies when you're sharing bath water with other people.
I'm a packrat so getting used to an apartment this small would take some getting used to. Definitely too small for having both a PC with a 27" monitor and an iMac. Only peeve is having the door swing out into the hall.
....My god, the entire apartment fits in my room!. Everything looks neat and nice...even expensive, however it is just to tiny. I would get really depressed :(
ive installed those toto toilet seats, they are about 500$ in the states thats not including the toilet add another 400-600$ they are kinda kool from a plumbers perspective
I notice that there are bars and security gates all throughout the neighborhood and the security camera at the door. Is it a high crime area? I do love the apt. It's like my camper/RV.
What aspects about this apartment do you like more than your apartment in Korea and vice versa? Which one do you like more overall? And I love how you personalize your apartments! So cute!! :D And one more thing, not sure if it was obvious or anything, but definitely use google and youtube to your advantage to find a way to remove that carpet burn. I am an american living in Japan for the last 17 years and the apartment you are living are the cheapest in price and quality even most Japanese don't want to live in these places. These place are for people that are not making a lot in the way of salary. Don' t fooled this place are built by big companies for max profits. In addition she complains about recycles Japan has the best recycles system I have ever seen.

These videos seem more...personal, as in, they aren't soley about teaching English, you take videos of things that people would normally do (COSTCO, etc.) but in a different country. I was surprised by all the security bars on the windows in the neighborhood. I was always under the impression that crime was rare in Japan. If I was looking for a place to stay in the US and I saw all those bars I would be nervous about living in that area.
Overall, I like Korea better. For some reason I am drawn to the complexities of Korean culture and the contradictory way of living. Japan was a little to reserved and strict for me. Rules are rules. While I did notice that Tokyo is much more conservative than Osaka and I would have loved the experience to live in Osaka. But once again, if I had to choose between Japan and Korea, Korea would be my first pick!

Without proper airflow inside, your apartment or house will get mold because of the moisture. If possible, it's best to dry clothes outside^^ :)
depends where they are, the winters might not be cold. tokyo is nearly as far south as los angeles

Oh, and can't you buy one of those little combo washer/dryers? They're fairly popular in Europe.
I think clothes dryer aren't very popular in japan because of how much electricity they use, they would run up your electricity bill like crazy.
