    Another great informative video on the Sig P320, your videos are simply the best, you do and explain the process exactly as it should be did. Do you think you'll be selling any of your videos, like in a part by part series or like a 4 disc set?? I would really be interested in purchasing it if you did. Your videos would be an absolute awesome learning process for anyone thinking about getting into gunsmithing as a career. And thanks again for taking the time to do the best vidoes ever on the Sig P320 platform.

      To your question however, I believe that there is a method to download UA-cam videos (although I've never tried myself), which you can then throw onto a USB or other device. Perhaps someone here can comment on this or a quick Google search may solve it.

    If the small internal striker return spring wears and or fails to hold the striker to the rear away from the primer at the chamber facing………
    This could be the spring reportedly blamed by Sig for the competition range holster incident by the experienced shooter complaint video of premature detonation between two range course strings.
    Possibly causing too much pressure on the primer from routine movement of the pistol during and after reholster of the weapon. Reported by witnesses to have occurred at rest several seconds after placing the pistol back in the holster.🤔🫣😳😬🙃
    However the trigger bar flange would also still have to fail to continue to grip the sear ledge possibly from all the movement and vibration from operation detonation and recoil. Making the striker safety spring another suspect.
    Fracture of the large main striker spring could also be the alleged reported spring fail by Sig factory maintenance. 🤫🙄🤔
    Sig has always been known as a design having very many springs since becoming popular 50 years ago. Regards and thanks for the informative videos.

    • @SIGMECHANICS
      @SIGMECHANICS  11 місяців тому +1

      Interestingly, enough many people thought the reset spring was the cause of that incident too, especially seeing as how the shooter mentioned that that spring was noted as a part that was broken when they submitted the gun to Sig, which made it sound like Sig admitted that it was the problem, when in truth, they likely told him it was broken and was replaced.
      What many people don’t know is that the reset spring was deleted/discontinued in the P320 by Sig in July 2020/2021, because it was deemed redundant. When the gun discharges the recoil of the slide will push the striker back and the striker will then catch the sear ledge on return forcing the reset anyway.
      I believe rather strongly that that particular issue was not due to a broken reset spring, all current signs indicate the trigger was pulled unintentionally. Mainly because if there was an alternate method to discharge, there should be a consistent and repeatable way to measure it (like the drop safety issue in 2017).
      I do believe it happened and I also believe people witnessed it, they however they did not understand the situation well. From an outside perspective it would look like an unintentional event, but they would not be able to see something as small as a fraction of an inch movement of the trigger being shifted by a piece of clothing especially when the trigger would be something semi concealed in the holster at that time.
      Of course that’s just a really long winded way of saying that, although I do believe these things, no one truly knows what happened and I am definitely open to changing my opinion if presented with scientific evidence of some sort.

    • @tims6970
      @tims6970 11 місяців тому

      @@SIGMECHANICS Always considered the original incident issues resulting in the drop test recall was rough handling, operator error by the shooters throwing their weapons around too much without proper respect or regard for common sense safety considerations. Now it seems obvious it has to be that, or a trigger/trigger bar to firing pin issue through the striker assembly. Which may have been addressed by the recall remedies.
      A manual safety similar to what the military decided with the 320 and previous 92F for recruits seems like a foolproof way to proceed. Unless condition 2 carry is the norm for all levels of Military experience, the practice has always been a ban on a round in the chamber until removing the weapon from the holster.
      Not to include the former Marines worked with for years who considered firing accidentally into a clearing barrel as an acceptable semi regular non reportable significant incident. Regards

      It’s my absolute pleasure! Sometimes if your TDL is REALLY tight, you can always try to use a pair of pliers (assuming you can get good grip with the tight tolerance) and just pull the rod outward. This takes the pressure off the TDL and most certainly, the TDL will rotate more freely.

    Hello, thanks for the video. Can you help me? I was cleaning my 320 and I found a tiny spring on the table that resembles the Striker reset spring in the video. I did have the striker out of the firearm to try and sop up some extra oil I accidentally got done in the striker channel. I did replace the reset spring into the striker and seated it as deep as it would go. My question is, seeing as how I never completely disassembled the striker do you think that reset spring will give me issues or am I good to go?

    • @SIGMECHANICS

      Send me a picture of the spring to sigmechanics@gmail.com and I’ll let you know. If it’s the reset spring, then you technically don’t need it because it’s a redundant part.

    I’m trying to remove the optic cover on my M17 Commemorative. I removed the screw that holds the rear sight, however, the plate feels like it’s held by an additional screw. Looking in to the hole that appears to vent fouling or over pressure from the striker channel, appears to be a screw but I’m unable to confirm it’s a screw. I need to clean the fouling out. Otherwise, the plate it probably pressed in to the slide cut out. There’s another hole under the slide from the extractor channel.

      If you look at the removed screws and see that they are intact (not broken off at the thread), there is a very good chance it’s dirty. Use a non-marring tool to see if you can wiggle it out.

    Thank you for a very detailed process . I just have one question if you can help. I have sig M17. Great shooter and used to be very accurate . However around 1800 rounds or so, the sight plate cover and the rear sight began to get loose. As you know the screws for the rear sight and the plate are inside the slide one is underneath the extractor spring . I tightened them and they became loose again this time felt down . The notorious small loaded chamber indicator spring got lost and I had to wait till my order of new ones arrived . I put locktite blue on the screws hoping they will not come loose again but now the site is not as accurate . My question is if there is any solution of that because I do not want the screws to fall down accidentally inside the slide and action part. Second does the x series optic slide fit the M17 because this one has the plate screw from outside and the rear site separate so you can keep it with a red dot

    • @SIGMECHANICS
      @SIGMECHANICS  2 роки тому +1

      Without seeing it. I’d say take off the screws and use a wire brush and pipe cleaner to remove any residue on the threads. Locktite blue is a great thread clock so I don’t see that as an issue.
      Also, possibly there is something under the plate. When you remove it clean the base. Make sure to give the locktite time to harden.
      There should be nothing special to this system, so if it fails again I’d look at some new screws, check the threads to see if they’re a bit stripped.

      @@SIGMECHANICS this was an interesting problem I ended up solving - the M18 recoil rod is not round and must be inserted the right way - which it was - however I was using a third party DPM rod and somehow after 60 shots it rotated internally enough to cause a FTF. I thought that was the end of it but on the 63rd shot it failed to go into battery so I whacked the slide into battery and fired. The brass then became stuck internally and wouldn’t eject.
      I ended up getting a stronger person to help me and with three hands I managed to get the striker plate so I could remove the extractor.
      This allow me to open the slide but I still couldn’t remove it without whacking it with a rubber mallet while the takedown lever was down.
      It was a nasty problem I’ve never seen before despite owning 5 striker fire Sigs and putting tens of thousands of rounds through them.

So my oem slide has the lci tab that would block a non lvi cut barrel from seating all the way when dropping it in the slide. If I remove the lci tab underneath my optic cover plate the slide will have a hole but not open thru all the way like the more common variation with the optic dust issue with vice versa setup ( non lci slide w/ lci cut barrel like you said.)
