    Good afternoon po sir.
    Lesson #4
    Discuss the following points:
    WHAT IS FREEDOM?
It refers to the power or right of a person to act, speak or think without restraint. No one can get to know us and other countries cannot get to know the Filipinos when they are here in the Philippines because we are free and we have the right to have a good government that is not oppressive or abusive.
    FREEDOM TO SPEAK
    - under section 3. Paragraph 1 we see here The privacy of communication and correspondence shall be inviolable. So it means it refers to how we talk to someone, so there is privacy which means we can speak freely. Under section 4 is also an example of freedom to speak, which says that people have the freedom to express their thoughts.
FREEDOM TO THINK, SPEAK AND ACT
    - It is said here in section 5 that religion is connected to our thinking, that what we want to believe is that no one should stop us because our constitution protects that. Our speech is linked to what we believe and what we do. So here in the Philippines there are many types of religions, because no one forbids us to build our own religion because that is our right and that is what we believe.
    FREEDOM FORM FOREIGN DOMINATION
    - Under article 2 of the 1987 constitution, this means that we can no longer be occupied by other countries like before and no country can occupy the Philippines because the Philippines is recognized around the world as a country with its own rights. be free.
    FREEDOM FROM DESPOTIC GOVERNMENT
    - Under section 4 of article 3 of our constitution, it states that the mayor has the right to convene a peaceful meeting to petition whatever our government is doing wrong.
    FREEDOM FROM IMPRISONMENT
    - under section 18 of article 3. Paragraph 1, it says here that no matter what you believe you cannot be imprisoned, but you must not commit illegal acts such as rebellion because it is prohibited by our revised penal code. And section 20 also says that no person can be imprisoned for debt, but if there is fraud it goes into estafa.
    FREEDOM FROM SLAVERY
    - Under section 18 paragraph 2, it says that slavery is forbidden, because a person is not a slave and you cannot enslave a person, in other words you cannot force a person if he does not want to do something.

In this video, Atty. Discuss the “FREEDOM IN RELATION TO HUMAN RIGHTS” first we have, “Freedom” what is freedom? Freedom is a power or right to act speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. It means that you’re free to do what you want to do, just don’t break the law.
I also learned about ARTICLE III of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines. Section 3. (1) The privacy of the communication and correspondence shall be inviolable. It means, it refers to how we communicate with people. It means you can speak or communicate with people because you’re respecting the privacy of communication. It means that they will keep your secret short because you trust them.
Also, there’s another, It says, Any evidence obtained in violation of this preceding section shall be inadmissible for any purpose in any proceeding. It means, Even if you take evidence or whatsoever if you violate the privacy of communication and correspondence that evidence would not be accepted.
Next is section 4. It says no law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press. It means that you have the right to state your statements, freedom of speech, or express anything you want because it is protected by the Constitution.
Next is section 5. It says that no law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Next here is the 2ND definition of “FREEDOM” it is the absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government. According to Atty. It means that there’s no domination and we are free and we have independence. The state can’t intervene or any country. It means you’re free, they can’t intervene in your own country.
Next are the examples of FREEDOM from FOREIGN DOMINATION.
It is under Article II of the 1987 constitution of the Republic of the Philippines.
Section 2. The Philippines adheres to the policy of peace, equality, justice, freedom, cooperation, and amity with all nations. It means that it is no longer possible as before that they can occupy us like the old days. Because we have freedom from foreign domination. Because the Philippines is recognized as a Sovereign country.
Next is the Example of FREEDOM from DESPOTIC GOVERNMENT.
According to Section 4. The right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievance. It means people have the right to meet or “magkatipon” in peace for the petition to know what is the wrongdoings of our government.
Next is the 3RD definition of freedom
It is the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.
According to Section 18. No person shall be detained solely by reason of his political beliefs and aspirations. It means any of your beliefs they’re not allowed to imprison you.
Also, according to section 20. No person shall be imprisoned for debt or non-payment of a poll tax. It means they can’t imprison you just because you have a debt.
Last is the FREEDOM from SLAVERY
According to Section 18. No voluntary servitude in any form shall exist except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall be duly convicted. It means, they can’t slave anyone, involuntary servitude is not allowed anymore, because people are not a slave.

Greetings, atty. Thank you for talking about this topic; I learned a lot about freedom in relation to human rights. Section 3 of Article III of the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, enacted in 1987. We talked about freedom and human rights, and how as individuals, we have the freedom to speak or think without being dictated to by anyone, and you clearly explained the three, which are to think, speak, and act. However, you also highlighted other meanings associated with freedom, such as foreign dominance, tyrannical governance, freedom from jail, and even liberation from slave ownership.

    Good day Atty.
Thank you for giving us knowledge about Freedom in relation to Human Rights.
I've learned that Freedom has 3 definition in google. First, freedom is the power or right of a person to act, speak or think without hindrance or restraint. For example, Freedom of Speak in the section 3 paragraph 1 of Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines stated that the privacy of communication and correspondence shall be inviolable and under paragraph 2 who stated that an evidence obtained in violation of this or the preceding section shall be inadmissible for any purpose in any proceeding. Also under Section 4 which stated that no law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press. Another example for Freedom to think, speak and act under Section 5 of Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, stated that no law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise therefore.
Second definition for freedom from google is absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government. For example Freedom from Foreign Dominion in the Section 2 of Article 2 of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, there stated that The Philippine adheres to the policy of peace , equality, justice, freedom, cooperation and amity with all nations. Another example is Freedom from Despotic Government under also Section 4 of Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, states that the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress for grievances.
And for the last definition of Freedom from google, freedom is a state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. For example, Freedom from imprisonment under Section 18 paragraph 1 of Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, stated that no person shall be detained solely by reason of his political beliefs and aspirations. Another in Freedom from imprisonment is in Section 20 which stated that no person shall be imprisoned for debt or non payment of a poll tax. Another example is Freedom from Slavery where in Section 18 paragraph 2 of Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, stated that no voluntary servitude in any form shall exist except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party have been duly convicted. Thank you again Atty. for giving us knowledge about freedom and how it is connected to our law and Human Rights.

    Freedom to Think, Speak and, Act;
Under Section 5. No law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Because our religious convictions are related to our psyche as human beings, no one can stop us from believing what we believe because we are protected by our constitution.
here in the philippines there are many different religions, nothing forbids you to build your own religion or your right if you don't want to have no religion.
    Freedom from Foreign Domination?
Under Article II of the 1987 constitution in Section 2. The Philippines adheres to the policy of peace, equality, justice, freedom, cooperation, and amity with all nations.
Because the Philippines are free of foreign rule, no country can occupy them. One of the reasons no one can invade the Philippines is that it is a sovereign nation with a global reputation. The United States of America is a sovereign nation with rights and liberties that no other country can match.
    Freedom from Despotic Government;
Under Section 4 of Article III, the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.
Everyone has the right to participate or rally in unity if the government has done anything wrong. The rally must be calm in order for there to be no disruptions and for our administration to be able to address their concerns right away
    Freedom from Imprisonment;
Under Section 18 (1) of Article III. No person shall be detained solely by reason of his political beliefs and aspirations.
As a human being, you can never be imprisoned, regardless of your beliefs, because you have the right to be free of imprisonment.
Under Section 20 Article III. No person shall be imprisoned for debt or non payment of a poll tax.
    - People aren't in debt, but if they cheat, the staff may punish them for stealing money.
    Freedom from Slavery
Under Section 18. (2) of Article III. No involuntary servitude in any from shall exist except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted.
it means you are not allowed to force a person if he does not want to do it because it can be called slavery.

To give example, Under Sec. 3 (1) - The privacy of communication and correspondence shall be inviolable. This means that it refers to communicating freely to other people as the law respects the privacy of communication. According to par. 2 of this section states that any evidence obtained in violation of this, is inadmissible before the court. This includes the rights to freedom of speech, expression, or of the press. Under sec. 5, it is stated that no law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. As religious beliefs is connected to what an individual choses to be part of, and or choses on what to believe in, but it shall still be in accordance with the law.
Freedom from Foreign Domination is defined as the absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government, as the Republic of the Philippines is a sovereign country that has its rights of liberty. Absence of Foreign domination refers to the liberty and indepence from other state or country.
Freedom from Despotic government refers to a governmental body that is not oppressive or abusive. This also pertains to the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.
Freedom from imprisonment refers to state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Under Sec. 18 of the Constitution, it is stated that no person shall be detained solely by reason of his political beliefs and aspirations. Under Sec 20, it is stated that "no person shall be imprisoned for debt or non-payment of a poll tax" as long as it does not include swindling or estafa.
Freedom from Slavery is defined under Sec 28 par. 2 as "Not involuntary servitude in any form shall exist except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted".

In this video lesson, I learned about Freedom in relation to Human Rights. Freedom is defined as a right to think, speak, and act without barriers. Written under section 3 of Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines, our freedom to speak includes having privacy with our communications and correspondence. In the following paragraph, it says that any evidence obtained in violation of the law shall be void or inadmissible. Also under Section 4, it says that there shall be no law that will abridge the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press. As an example of freedom to think, speak, and act. We should be exercising our religion freely. Under section 5, no law shall be made to prohibit establishing or exercising religion. The second definition of Freedom as discussed by Atty. Jeffrey Bajita, every country shall have independence and not be dominated by foreign countries. The law that provides our freedom from foreign domination was written under section 2 of article 2 of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines. Our government should also not be despotic. Under section 4, Article 3 of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines, people must have the right to form or assemble peaceably and petition for the government for redress of grievances. The third definition of Freedom says that it is not the state of being imprisoned or enslaved. As an example of freedom from imprisonment, under Section 18 of Article 2, no person shall be imprisoned because of his political stand. Another example is under Section 20, it states there that no person shall be imprisoned because of debt as long as it does not violate the right of other people. Freedom from slavery means prohibiting of involuntary servitude, under section 18 of article 3, it says that it prohibited in any form except as a punishment for a crime.
