I’m glad I’m not the only one who periodically creates a list. 😊 My list is always shifting, but legibility is a key factor for me. The hands must contrast with the dial. Simple is also preferred. No perpetual calendars!
The one watch I've always thought of as a grail for me is a Day Date. I love seeing it on others and the bracelet is striking. Someday I would like to have one.
Tony, I enjoy your vibe. You seem like a more casual dude to have had and want so many dress watches. Would love you to do a video about all different watches you have owned over the years. Happy holidays.
@ There are a few dressier watches out there I love as well but I would never have the occasion to where them. Have you ever checked out the Glashutte Original 70s Pano? I also have a Cartier Santos (gray dial with black ADLC bezel) so not sure I can do another square watch but that thing is pretty sick.
Great episode mate. Loved this one! I picked up a green 36mm OP earlier this year and I struggle to find anything else which matches up in terms of comfort and what I like personally. It’s not for everyone, but for me it’s a perfect watch.
Great list. Your list put some watches i had not considered, or was aware of, on my list to check out. I am not a dress watch guy and am drawn to military watches. My list is the Blancpain fifty fathoms, vintage dirty dozen watch and one that is ordered and i am waiting on. A custom breitling unit watch. The unit watch is a thing thanks to the awareness raised by watches of espionage and, through another entity, we made contact with breitling who created a unique 50 watch run. 8 month build out and am hoping for an August delivery. As always, great list. Thanks tony!
Hey Tony, I guess my current grail is a 36mm OP with a colorful dial, or a 36mm DJ on an oyster bracelet. Maybe vintage. I suppose these fall into the category of right now I can’t afford them versus being hard to get. I do love that VC though (green dial/rose gold). I love hearing about your grails!
That's a sweet list man. After having my explorer II 226570 for about a year and a half or so I've realized that it kinda is my grail in some ways....for now hahaha. It was always my favourite Rolex and it's just grown on me more and more. Great video homes. Hope you're having a great weekend!!
@@geno816 I've been thinking about an airking for a long time. Maybe I'll pull the trigger one day. I've owned other models in the past but just have the explorer II and a sea dweller right now and I'm pretty content as far as rolex goes for the time being
Hey Tony … my Zenith Pilot is still one of favorites and gets lots of wrist time too. Thanks to you, I was able to make the decision. If you know you know!
I went through a period of just buying like crazy. I have recently thinned out my collection to about 10 pieces I really love and will. Keep. Bad period of trial and error that cost me thousands! No more of that in only buying pieces to keep. That Vacheron 56 is stunning.
@ Dude me too. The OG Richard Mille if you ask me. Way classier too. I was just thinking about them I was in NYC right near the plaza hotel is what used to be a large FM store. Too bad what happened to them over the years.
@ RM definitely got their inspiration from FM. I’ve been looking at them a lot lately. Yes, shame what happened with them. Every celeb in Hollywood had them.
Your taste is 👌🏽.i have the precious metal Jaeger lecoultre master control, but i am looking into getting the tribute reverso duoface calender in rose gold. It is a beauty. I love the polaris too but the green dial one you showed is a boutique edition. The new brequet doesn't do it for me. I have the Rose gold 5827BA and it is my favorite watch. It is very comfortable and the weight on ny wrist is perfect. I prefer it over the AP whose crown rubs over my wrist and a bit uncomfortable. The day date is another great and comfortable watch but one can be uncomfortable wearing it in public because of the attention it attracts.
There's some great pieces of your list. I'm starting to appreciate dress watches a lot more than I used to. I recently bought a Longines 190th anniversary dress watch. The dial on it is awesome and for the price it is an amazing piece.
@talkingtimepieceswithtony I'd definitely recommend trying it on for size. The dial is on another level and the engraved numbers are stunning. Longines are so under rated and make amazing pieces.
Nice zenith⌚️. Take 2🎬🎬🎬🤣. My idea of a grail watch is the next one I am buying. Does not matter the price of the Watch. Yea right Tony, wait until end of 2025. A bag of new watches you will have. Plans never go to plan. Tony the next watch on my list is the Rolex Explorer 40mm. But I am doing audio upgrades to my system. Demoed some speakers today. I am buying in January 2025. And looking at a new power amp. There are my multiple Watch budget gone. Thanks.
Tony! Happy Saturday! Great video and great list! Personally, I’m still waiting on the GMT Master II Batgirl, finger crossed for 2025! I really do love the aesthetics and build of the Glashütte Original, man how much watch you get for the value, although the puck style profile and 3 yr warranty personally made me second guess the decision. GP has really been catching my attention recently. What a stunning watch, but still holding on strong for the GMT. Hope all is well and all the best on your hunt for the next grail!
Hi Tony! I picked my Starbucks today. Looks great on my wrist, that green bezel pops. Rolex AD had at least 30+ watches in exhibition only. I was drooling at 3 different Daytonas, 5 different variations of GMTs and 3 different Skydwellers plus Day Dates in rose gold as well they had 2 1908s both dials. I like your selections especially the Vacheron with green dial and rose gold case. I have to discipline myself been on a buying spree both this year and last year. Our expensive passion needs a reality check occasionally.😁I believe I’m done for the remaining year regarding watch purchases. Unless I’m offered something hard to obtain.🤔Have good rest of weekend.👍
Hey Mike! Congrats on the sub!! Glad you picked it up! Enjoy it. Glad you like it! Yes, I’m done for a while as well on watches. I’m hoping my next one is definitely something I’ll wear instead of putting in the bank! 😂.
Dude i saw the new 56 Rose gold. Its fantastic. Stunning and the strap is awesome. Interesting to know about the movement. Im not totally sure how that makes me feel in the end. Here is my full list of all the things I’ve lusted after - FP Journe Lune Havana Dial. VC overseas Either the dual time or Retrograde. VC 56 the new gold one with black dial. PARMIGIANI FLEURIER TONDA GMT Rattrapante. JLC Master Control Chronograph in blue. JLC Reverso (new small one w/ white dial). Patek 5212. Rolex GMT Sprite. Zenith Defy Skyline Skeleton Night Surfer edition. Zenith Chronomaster Revival Shadow.
For me the only watches I can think about whom I will keep is the Omega Silver Snoopy Awards and a Daytona full white gold and black dial may JLC moon (blue). well... it been 15 years of watch collecting... i know myself, i'll get to my goal and find a new one :)
Another great video Tony, thank you. Sorry for the lengthy reply but totally with you on slowing down before pulling the trigger & buying the watch youve lusted after. I've tried on so many watches & thought it would definitely be my next purchase (the Zenith Defy Skyline Chronograph being the latest as mentioned in last week's Q&A) but now if i think back on them i'm kind of happy i didn't buy them as my taste seems to have changed. My 1st real 'grail' was the Sub 124060 which i got the call for in Jan this year, after that every watch i began to show interest in was passed over by thinking, would i want to wear it over the Sub which was always a 'no'. After the Sub i put my name down for a 36mm Explorer which i got the call for last week, just need to go & pickmup before Xmas 🥳. The Explorer will slow down any urge for another watch for long time but probably won't stop me looking & who knows when the time & finances are right? Probably too early but in case we don't speak before, have a great Xmas 👍🏻 (question for next Q&A: What watch do think you will want to be wearing for Xmas day & do you have any plans for Xmas?). Merry Xmas from a wet & windy England ☔🌪️
Hey man! Thanks for your comment. Once you have a sub, any other watch will be an alternate. 😂 although it’s good to have “many “ alternates. I appreciate your comments and questions dude. No plans for Christmas. It’s just another day for me.
My absolute Grail is the omega Speedmaster silver Snoopy award, unfortunately I bought both of my omega from an authorized dealer and I don’t know how to get on a list with an Omega boutique with no history
Hey Tony! Hope all is well. Q and A question. What are your thoughts on the new Zenith Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar from Hodinkee with the meteorite sub dials? I didn't even know it existed until 10 mins ago and WOW. Looks stunning!
Great episode Tony, what to you think of the IWC Ingenuier since you mentioned the GP and other integrated bracelet sport watches. The IWC does have real ties to the famous Gerald Genta designer unlike the GP. Also what’s the opinion on the Rolex Yatchmaster 40, I’ve seen you with all the Rolex sport watches but the YM
Enjoy the show !,, just picked up 1908 gold with a white dial from an AD and it’s a really a great looking watch and I’ve been putting it on more often than most recent other purchase from AD , the Daytona Pikachu, but to your point regarding panda even Pikachu is quite difficult to read and very heavy versus 1908 is very comfortable watch and so far really glad that I purchased it. While I may not agree with all your comments mentioned, I really enjoyed the show , & Keep up the great work 😅
I bought the 2 tone daytona last year as it was offered by the AD. Was going to use as an everyday beater as my other watch are precious metals. It kind of sour me on the daytona line and i will not take any variations of the daytona if offered one. For one, they wear very small and lean towards the feminine side if I might add as my personal opinion. Rolex have one of the best catalogs out there and it is a surprise people are crazy over the daytona when the gmt, daydate and sky dweller lines are one of the best, if not the best set of 3 models any watch company has to offer.
I really enjoyed this video. The quest for the holy grail. Hahaha. But seriously, now that you mention VC, I have been thinking about the VC overseas 4620V/210A which really would be my grail watch. I never imagined my journey in watches would take me in this deep since obviously this is a very expensive watch. However, what are my realistic chances of acquiring this watch? I want to make an appointment with the boutique here but do I have any chance of getting this watch? Is the wait time insane? I have no buying history with VC. Thanks for any advice you can provide!

Tony do you consider ones that you would never be able to buy as grails or just ones that you could potentially own (within financial responsibility but not easily)?
