Thanks Tony for the down to earth content and keeping it real! We all have different taste and opinions which is what makes us unique. But I love the flat honest respect you give your viewers! Keep on keeping on!
Great Q&A as always. Your comments/review about the Daytona legibility on a previous video steered me away and ended getting something else. Given your change in perspective, do you now have a new grail identified? Thanks again. P.S. wearing an explorer 39mm for the weekend.
Hey Tony, great channel. I bought a Zenith Pilot 3 hand after watching your vid on this piece and couldn’t be happier-one of my favorite pieces. My question for your next q&a is this: My uncle (in his 80’s) gifted me his 1968 Rolex DJ 1601 2tone, piepan, silver dial. He bought it during an RR visit in Paris while in the USN stationed in Iceland. The piece was sitting in a lockbox for 22 years before I received it. I had it serviced and it’s beautiful watch, a piece of family history, and super appreciative that he gifted it to me. However, I can't read the time on this piece and can barely do so with reading glasses because the hands blend in with the dial-similar to your Daytona issue. I feel that my uncle stopped wearing it for the same reason. The dilemma I have is to let it sit for another 20+ years before I pass it on to one of my kids (who may feel the same way I do) or sell and buy something similar that is legible and wearable. I believe in wearing all pieces in my collection as opposed to having them sit. This is the only Rolex in my collection. What is your opinion?
Great show once again Tony man. Love the 1921 in white gold, wish I could pick it up. In mean time I just received a vintage IWC Portuguese from the 80’s on alligator so far so good
Hi Tony, thanks for answering my questions 👍🏻. Wrist check, today I wore my 36mm Smiths Everest (white dial / jubilee bracelet), i have found myself enjoying smaller watches & have a few 36mm watches even though I have a 7.25" wrist & my other watches are 40mm, 41mm & 43mm. Have a great weekend.
Question for the next q&a- happy holidays Tony! Love the channel hope you’re enjoying the holiday season. Here’s my question- what is your preferred method of insuring your watches? Do you have them tied into a rental/home policy or do they have their own policy? Thanks! (Apologies if you’ve already answered this before but I’m sure plenty of other viewers will benefit from hearing it again!)
Loved the intro TG….! Wearing a Glycine Combat Sub…. Hamilton watches are OUTSTANDING watches… I know you feel the same TG….! Hamilton are great watches. I have three of them…! One of the best watches for the money you can buy anywhere….! Yes, Elvis wore a Hamilton…! Mercy… Another great video TG… Love the Friday Q & A …❤️💯👍
I haven’t seen the Montblanc in a long time. I love that dial color. I also like the intro 😊. For the Omega question re: planet ocean, just be sure to pay attention to case size when searching. They come in around 37.5mm and go up to around 44.mm!
Hi Tony! I'm wearing my beloved Seiko SPB053, one of the most beautiful dive watches ever made. I got that watches back in March of 2022, and I love it the just same as on the first day I bought it.
Hi Tony! Happy Friday evening to you. Some interesting questions tonight. I must admit I like the new Omega Seamaster green dial and bronze gold. Best release in Seamaster range this year. Tony I got a call today from my local Rolex AD. The manager said “I know it’s not what you requested , but would you like a Starbucks?” I thought for a second 🤔 “Yes,I would like to purchase the Starbucks.” 😁Tomorrow I go pick up the Starbucks. The Jaeger LeCoultre arrived at the house on Tuesday. The Reverso Duoface Tribute Chronograph it’s a gorgeous watch Tony. Now I finally have Jaeger LeCoultre in my collection. Have a great weekend Tony.
Hey Mike! That’s awesome!! Congrats on your Jeager!! Enjoy it. Also, big congrats on your Sub!!! Wear them in great health man! I’m happy you picked up the JLC! Plus the sub!
Hey Tony, I think part of the reason why we didn't think about the resale value of watches back in the day, is that they were a lot less expensive. A basic Omega Seamaster back in the 70's cost around $800 in today's money. A basic Omega today is going to cost new $5K at least. I remember trying on a new Rolex Sub at an AD back in 1985 and the price was $2.5K in today's money.
Just picked up from Japan a 2004 Electric Blue Omega 300 Seamaster 2255.80 with 20cm bracelet , serviced and light polish , looks new for under 2K. Running +2 per day. 41mm case 11mm thick. I really like this one. To find a 20cm bracelet on a vintage watch in Japan is practically impossible ! Had been wearing my Bruce Wayne GMT.
Tony. Great video. Thank you! First thing i said when i saw your watch “tony never wears his mont blanc!” Right then you said the same thing. Good point on the talking watches with people. Local culture also plays a role. We are in LA and people freak the f&$k out if you even say hi to them here. For a place with like four million people nobody speaks to each other, waves, or acknowledges another human… weird place we live. I am wearing my latest addition tonight. Was chatting with my AD two months ago and they asked if i was interested in anything. I said well, i would be interested in a green bezel sub. Didnt think anything of it and last week i get a call. “Your watch is in. Still interested?” Shit. Yes! Now how do i get it past my wife? Thanks again tony. Have a great week
Hey Tony! Long time watcher Phil here, I was wondering your take on the zenith hodinkee chronograph watch with the orange dial! It looks sick and I want to buy it, I also feel like a zenith will round out my collection nicely since I have Rolex, Tudor, Omega, grand Seiko, and seikos. Keep crushing the game man!
Hi Tony! I hope you’re doing well. What’s your opinion on ETA vs Selitta movements? Are they basically the same quality or is the one better than the other? Any information and knowledge that you could share on these two movements would be greatly appreciated. My second question is what’s your opinion on Hamilton watches? Just kidding on second question lol 😂
Love that salmon dial watch Tony! Sorry I missed this I was in NYC over the weekend and just catching up. Question; have you ever had a watch that you sold, then Regretted it and bought it back? I’ve done that twice. Its like a walk of shame for me LOL
On the wrist : a 42 mm 1963 165.024 no date Seamaster300 on handmade beaver tail strap. This is a watch wreck, very much beaten up : bezel and crown were replaced, caseback was polished and engraved by a former owner and following a likely water damage, this 1963 watch was fitted with a... 1961 service movement, a 552 which is the correct movement. So this watch had a very rough life. But the watch looks great and I love it as much as I love some of my better preserved pieces worth much more.
I also like the Zenith Chronomaster Sport better than the Daytona. I also like the bog standard white dial, tricolor subdials. However, I also love the Navitimer and got the Sinn 903 St II, mainly because of the 200m water resistance.
Wearing the Speedy Moonwatch 1861 version on a leather strap tonight for date night. On the Q for the Batman jubilee, I’ve heard there is a 36mm Datejust jubilee bracelet that fits the 11 series GMT model. I think another YTer (Youre Terrific) had a video about this within the past month or two.
Another Great video! Question- if you chose one hard to get Rolex- which would you buy? I’d like to gift someone a hard to get Rolex for a special occasion. I don’t know which to get- Kermit? Pepsi or ??
The Black Dial Daytona is a bit better to read with the contrast. The White indexes are easy to see and the white of the hands stands out against the black dial. The sub dials are still a bit difficult to read depending on how the light hits them. But yeah I know the white dial is the "Panda" more desirable but I think the black looks way better and easier to read.
Had a funny conversation with a guy in LAX waiting for a plane. He was wearing a fake Yachtmaster 42 on oysterflex. He told me he got it at the AD. I explained white gold is a different color than stainless. I had my Grey Ghost with me and showed him the difference. He said his was newer thus the difference 😂
Hey Tony I'm starting to look forward to these Friday talks. Best wishes from SE Florida. Refugee from San Diego california, the socialists took over the state and we escaped , finally.
Have the PO 1 st gen, sold the 16600 seadweller for it , the 45 mm fits on the wrist better, under the radar, less pretentious tool watch with micro, banked the difference and going on holiday with it unlike the Rolex which would stay home in the draw😊if you can’t wear em don’t buy them😂
To the guy who asked about watch talk in the wild. Personally I enjoy talking about my watches but not in all places. Recently I was getting gas and a guy came up on me fast and out of nowhere to ask about my Rolex GMT Pepsi. It freaked me out how fast he ran up on me and I just said thanks and got out of there. If I am at a bar/restaurant or "safer" place I love to chat. Just my 2 cents but time and place make all the difference to me.
The Chronomaster sport is an overpriced jangly toy compared to a Daytona for a 7.5” wrist. Lovely Chrono movement and dial, but it’s punching above it’s price point big time IMO but buy it (rather than just yab) if you like it 😉
@ OK I was exaggerating wildly, It’s very nice but bracelet is not great IMO and it’s small compared to Daytona. And it’s way to expensive at list I feel.
@ I was not talking about you buying it, meant all the people that mention it in Daytona conversations. I do not really like chronograph’s anyway, but a bigger Zenith would be very tempting 😈
1 take 🎬🎬🎬🎬Tony😛. Some great questions Tony I agreed with all of them today, keep up all the good work. Thanks.
Thank you man! 🤙🤙
I look forward to any video you make on the history of Zenith.
I hope to own a Zenith one day.
Another great episode.
“Still married to Peg” 😂😆✌️
Thanks man! I appreciate it. Hopefully you can get the Zenith soon!

Thanks for your comment, but I’m not talking that long ago. Even as recently as 10 years ago it wasn’t really a thought for most.

Hey Tony! Long time watcher Phil here, I was wondering your take on the zenith hodinkee chronograph watch with the orange dial! Hey man! Thanks for your question. I’ll add to the Q&A.
Great video Tony!
Thank you.
That Zenith the person asked about is going to be my next watch. I’m def getting that ice blue Zenith.
That’s too bad about your panda!
Yeah man, that Zenith is beautiful. Better than the Panda!
Hey Toni, Tudor Panda on the wrist. Adjusted the bracelet & found the sweet spot.
Awesome!
Hi Tony, I’m wearing the Cartier santos Dumont rose gold with the Arabic teal dial and teal lacquered bezel.
Nice!!!

Rocking my new Casioak GA2100. I now get why everyone loves G-Shock watches. They are a lot of fun for not much money.
Very cool! Enjoy!
Tony, thanks for the video. I personally prefer the white dial Daytona, but do you think the black dial is more legible than the white?
I prefer the white as well. I haven’t handled the black dial. But I’ve heard it’s a little better.
Wearing the Speedy Moonwatch 1861 version on a leather strap tonight for date night.

Have quite a few solid pieces, but at this moment, I am wearing the Brequet 5827BA.
That’s nice!

Wearing my vintage breitling chronomat from the 50’s
Nice!
I really want to love omega but I just can't get along with any of them.. bought and sold so quickly
Yeah, I understand that.

New GMT or neo vintage what is your preference?

Any chance on doing a reggae version of the "Talking Timepieces With Tony" theme song?
Absolutely 1000% nope!
@@talkingtimepieceswithtony 😁So I'm guessing a polka version is way beyond the pale as well.
@ I may do a polka version! 😂😂
@@talkingtimepieceswithtony Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wasn't Tom York with The Monkees?
I thought that was Peter York. 🤷

Hey Tony I will like to buy your Daytona if you can’t read it 😎🤙🏼🍻
🍻🍻

Wouldn't you be worried that a zombie would roll you for your Rolex?
I think if a zombie rolled up on me like that I would have other things to worry about. 😂
