    Started out on metformin with A1C of 12.5. Could not tolerate metformin. Switched me to slow release dosage,still terrible side effects. My endo took me off and started me on insulin. About a year ago i was placed on trulicity 0.75 dose. Then i went to 1.5. Have had no issues ,no weight loss.A1C is lower,like 7.4.
    Why am i not losing weight?? Is it because of the insulin?

    Was on Trulicity for about a year and my A1c stayed around 6.0-6.2. That was great and some weight loss. The GI issues were horrible. I was afraid to go anywhere for fear of a desperate bathroom situation. My A1c is up to 6.9 and wanting to try Ozempic or another injection. Are AEs the same for all injections?

    Thanks for the update, I have been taking Trulicty for about 2 years now, and have noticed that it seems the auto injector sometimes cycles faster / slower than other times. Though I have never used a timer, it seems some of the time it cycles in about 1 second, maybe less, other times perhaps as long as 4 or 5 seconds, with around 2 seconds seeming to be typical. Has anyone else noticed this?

      Mark, I wasn’t fully understanding my doctor today but I think he said I was to start the trulicity and continue my 24 units a day of the lantus. I also understood I was to decrease the lantus to 10 units after a week eventually stopping the lantus altogether once I felt my sugar was not getting high readings. I’m also taking metformin twice a day. It’s hard to understand him and he never asks me if I have any questions. I will be finding a different endocrinologist. I’m just afraid I’m using too much insulin now that I’ll be starting the trulicity. I will definitely ask the pharmacist when I go and pick up my rx.

    I just started my second week on 1.5. The first week sucked I was nauseous a lot. I’m a type 2 diabetic from my anti rejection medication from a kidney transplant. I’m actually in really good shape and not using it for weight loss. I can see you lose weight because you feel like you’re going to puke often and can’t eat. I lost 6 pounds in the first week. I do lift weights 5 days a week and do fasted morning cardio everyday. I’m going to be even leaner this summer. I can see bodybuilders using this to cut but it’s not going to help you bulk up.

  • @bluesky4385

    I'll ask this again. What if weight is not the problem. Definitely not overweight. The A1c is 7.1. Its the after meal glucose readings go into the 200's with minimal food. I'm on Januvia and Lantus insulin currently. Even a salad with some vegetables and chicken Breast, with a half a slice of Pita Whole Wheat bread causes a 245 at least reading for the next several hours. Is this Trulicity Medication a proper course of treatment for that particular DIabetic. I ask because Metformin at 2000 grams didn't do anything and I was taken off. I have little in the way of doctors trained in Diabetes to help with an answer. Actually just getting a doctor here is a overwhelming chore in itself.

    • @sugarhighchannel
      @sugarhighchannel  3 роки тому +1

      So, while I can’t give specific advice over UA-cam for any one particular person, here’s how I would approach this issue if one of my patients had a similar issue. I would change the Januvia to a medication in this category (either Trulicity or Ozempic, although Victoza and Bydureon are not bad options). Since even a very low carb meal is resulting in spiking blood glucose, it sounds like the pancreas has lost some ability to secrete an appropriate amount of insulin following the meal. Medications in the GLP-1 class have been shown in clinical trials (I can think of one study performed using Ozempic in particular) to help restore a normal amount of post-meal insulin secretion from the pancreas. If that was enough to help control the after-meal glucose jumps, I wouldn’t make any further changes. If 3-4 months using that medication didn’t make enough difference and after-meal glucose remained high, then short-acting meal time insulin would likely be necessary.

    During a hospital consultation a new young doc gave me a pack of Trulicity for my Type I db. But I never used it. I am too lean and slim with no loose fat whatsoever to stab that brutal instrument into my gut. I also have a low pain threshold. Even using my insulin pen twice a day is a struggle. As for losing weight, that is absolutely not an option. It has taken me 10 long years to recover from ketoacidosis which reduced me to skin and bone and almost a goner. My normal consultant would have asked more questions before prescribing dodgy meds like this. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay for it as everything is free of charge here in the UK
