I know this will get lost in the comments, but I would like to personally thank you for your dedication to sharing the art of music. I’m 17 years old, and i’ve been playing for about a year and a half, and I’m alright at guitar, but you and Marty Schwartz have been such a huge help in my journey into the world of music. Just wanted to say thanks, and you’ll always have my support!
Awesome job on everything, especially the solos from "Highway Star" and "Holy Wars." Also, don't know how you nailed it down to one solo for SRV because every solo of his give me chills. Keep up the great work!
I just bought me my first Guitar (electric) I am super excited and also very intimidated by this beautiful instrument i now have and wanted forever . I am a Huge fan of Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies , So many good Riffs and Solo's .
Biggest tip I can give you. Don’t get discouraged and give up on it. You’ll run into a lot of frustrations but as long as you stick to it you’ll almost certainly get better
Practice and enjoy. Like others have stated it's not a light switch you magically flip one day but an accumulation of knowledge and practice that makes everything flow together well. Enjoy the little victories like learning why things sound like they do or why a bend goes to a certain pitch. Give it a week or two and you'll be playing basic chords. Another month after that you'll be working on scale shapes. Then understanding why you play certain chords and so on and so forth. Its an interesting journey with a ton of light bulb above the head moments that make it a lot of fun
AiC has a metric ton of great riffs. I love Jerry's rhythm parts, especially from the first album. They were so heavy and brutal. They weren't a Grunge band, they were a metal band.
Licks, riffs. I knew you couldn't stay away for long. See you with part "13" soon like I called before. Thanks for giving me a reason to try and learn these though.
This video is basically guitar porn... 😊 "Insane sustain" is the phrase I'm going to try working into casual conversations today (without talking about my Schecter w/Sustainiac...) Thanks for this video Mike!!! You never cease to impress!!!
Men!!! You all ways inspired me to keep learning im 46 and i began to play guitar a year ago thanks for all of your teachings!!! Hope one day at least get a little bit near as you play !!
Dude i love your musical influences!! Every song that you do in your vids and in all of your small vids take me back to when i was a kid and what made me want to play guitar. Thanks for the reminiscing songs brotha!
5:22 Bill Paxton as the radio operator and Judge Reinhold as one of the pilots. Pat is singing into her radio microphone near the end of the video. If you think that solo doesn't make sense.... But we love Pat Benatar.
Nice playing Mike. Your Dr. Feelgood story took me back. At that time, I was working at the Electric Fetus and my boss & I went to the Motley tour stop at the Met courtesy WEA. Got to watch from the side of the stage. Witnessed the band do a team guzzle of Jack. Great times. Keep Rockin' - Happy Holidays!
I just wanted to say you are an OUTSTANDING Musician!!!! solos that have made me do the OMG thing are what is and what should never be, Detroit rock city, and Would? But i have to say your choices are Awesome!
Worked with a buddy who did gigs at bars and when he played in our town we'd go see him. One of our coworker ladies always yelled out Stranglehold and he'd rip it up on a Gibson just like that, chit chatting with inquisitive drunks the whole time lol
Well first of all Mike, these kind of videos are THE BEST! LOVE these videos, compared to "Rando"... Ya know? So I certainly hope you keep these videos coming, they F***ing ROCK!!!!! Stay safe bro....
Thanks for expanding my knowledge of what I'll call the L.A. sound. I more of a British guitarist kinda guitarist fan, myself. I wonder if you have studied guy's like Ritchie Blackmore, Martin Barre, Steve Howe, Peter Green or Steve Hackett? I'd love to see / hear you take on those guys.
Oh man... speaking of big stretches on lead, you should check out Lay it Down by Ratt. Sounds amazing and the main riff has this nutty 5-7-10 stretch chord! Took me a few days to get it down
Pantera is F'n killer. Dimebag was a God. No one can compare... but.... never question your loyalty to metallica!!! Lol. No matter how disappointing it is that they gave up their thrash roots, no one can deny how amazing their first several albums are. Before the suck album, oh, I mean black album, nobody questioned metallicas superiority. They will forever be the best, even though they are not the best. Haha. If that makes any sense
@The-Art-of-Guitar: hey Mike, cool licks, thanks. I usually start looking up one song you're playing, and end up browsing down memory lane from there. No different this time: listening to solos James Murphy's did for Death and Testament (and many other bands), do you know him?
I know it sucks getting requests all the time but I really think it would be awesome if you continued the artist series... I would love a Josh Homme video!! He got some unusual techniques but I can't find any video out there explaining the way he plays properly as you do! anyway your videos are awesome absolutely my favourite guitar channel !!
Thanks for including me!
Wow, THE Scotti Hill. We’re honored. Thanks for watching.
😂 I thought it was a fake account at first!

Awesome, that was nice to read. Thank you.
Being depressed a lot sometimes in my early 20s as well, guitar’s always there for me I felt that when you mentioned that
yes the whole jar of flies album is filled with licks and guitar parts that give me comfort and a rush.
The nothing else matters solo Is probably one of my favorite solos ever!
which one
yep it is is a really good solo i love all of metalica's shredy solos but i also love when metalica does more melodic solos
Cuz its the only solo you know
It's probably the best guitar solo James Hetfield has wrote and will ever write.
I’ve got to say my favourite guitar lick ever is the fast part of the ride the lightning solo
Interesting, one of my favourite licks is the first, slow part of that solo!
Ah yes the whole i remember you solo gave me chills, especially that last note
Ye that whole solo is just chills all around
Yea - I didn't realize how good that solo was back in the day!!
I remember wondering what in the world he was doing (wasnt it Sanke Sabo?) as I didnt know what artificial harmonics were.
Awesome job on everything, especially the solos from "Highway Star" and "Holy Wars." Also, don't know how you nailed it down to one solo for SRV because every solo of his give me chills. Keep up the great work!
I'm happy you played Whale & Wasp. I had an Alice in Chains shirt based on that song. Great, underrated guitar playing in that band.
I feel u Mike.
First time I heard Cemetery Gates I fell in love with Pantera, and my loyalty to Metallica came into question as well.
Dang someone else who feels the same way.
Whales and Wasps is a very understated instrumental
I just bought me my first Guitar (electric) I am super excited and also very intimidated by this beautiful instrument i now have and wanted forever . I am a Huge fan of Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies , So many good Riffs and Solo's .
How Will I Laugh Tomorrow!

I was never much of a Sucidal Tendencys fan, but Rocky George is an amazing guitar player.
Man... something about Alice in Chains just hits differently...
Yeah for me it was "Shame In You" that helped me with a period of actual capital "D" depression
AiC has a metric ton of great riffs. I love Jerry's rhythm parts, especially from the first album. They were so heavy and brutal. They weren't a Grunge band, they were a metal band.
I love this entire series. Call it riffs or licks or whatever, just keep it going!
Bark at the moon first and second chorus... those are amazing. Not to mention the solos... the whole song is a rush!
Licks, riffs. I knew you couldn't stay away for long. See you with part "13" soon like I called before. Thanks for giving me a reason to try and learn these though.

Nice solgan. I just got that guitar recently lol...it is badass!
Can't believe i've never heard that Is it love solo before, what i treat for the ears. I'll be listening to that all Christmas xD
The beginning of Crazy On You by Heart is cool.
That was TOTALLY AWESOME!!! WOW!! That was some amazing playing I'm totally blown away!!
Thank you for playing Dime.
That flying v rules.
Especially when playing Scorpions. Michael Schenker will always be the man.
Thank you Mike for such a great list. You are so talented. I really enjoy all your videos, I love your playing. Keep them coming 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
ah yes i love seeing some skid row in these lists, as i rarely see them in many guitar riff lists!
5:22 Bill Paxton as the radio operator and Judge Reinhold as one of the pilots. Pat is singing into her radio microphone near the end of the video. If you think that solo doesn't make sense.... But we love Pat Benatar.
Oh man.. Whale and Wasp. Love every second of that song.
Thanks for the run down. Next to ‘Don’t Follow,’ this IS quintessential AIC for me.
The new amp sounds great! Merry Christmas!
Watching your videos are stark reminders that I should be practicing my guitar. This one makes me think I should be working out more too.
Finally! I've been waiting for this
Your vibrato is amazing! Absolutely on point!
Dude! You nailed that Dream Warriors solo!
That tele is gorgeous! Great video man. I look forward to part 3
John Sykes on the Thunder and Lightnight album was some of his most underrated work
Oh please continue this series.
Dude. Thanks so much for these. And yes...AIC's Jar of Flies was like a warm blanket for me when I was about 24.
Shadows of the night. You just made my day I love that song so much thanks Mike:)
I just wanted to say you are an OUTSTANDING Musician!!!! solos that have made me do the OMG thing are what is and what should never be, Detroit rock city, and Would? But i have to say your choices are Awesome!
You're one hell of a guitarist ! Thanks for the video bro
I love it I will deffinetly learn these. Just got my guitar some days ago
Worked with a buddy who did gigs at bars and when he played in our town we'd go see him. One of our coworker ladies always yelled out Stranglehold and he'd rip it up on a Gibson just like that, chit chatting with inquisitive drunks the whole time lol
AOG... man you make that stuff look easy. Very talented musician you are indeed...
Really enjoyed that Mike. Thank you.
Highway Star solo flows so perfectly with the song.
That was SWEET. I loved it!

Dude, thanks for this. Hitting all the right feels. Killer x2!
Nicely done! Cool selection
Love the look of the body on the new Tele. The neck with the wood grain lines going through it is definitely messing with my OCD.

Awesome video \m/ making me always want to improve :)
Almost called the cops for anticipating the last E note on Pride and Joy
Seeing faith no more first made me so happy
Thanks for expanding my knowledge of what I'll call the L.A. sound. I more of a British guitarist kinda guitarist fan, myself. I wonder if you have studied guy's like Ritchie Blackmore, Martin Barre, Steve Howe, Peter Green or Steve Hackett? I'd love to see / hear you take on those guys.

Marty Friedman is such a genius
Pantera is F'n killer. Dimebag was a God. No one can compare... but.... never question your loyalty to metallica!!! Lol. Before the suck album, oh, I mean black album, nobody questioned metallicas superiority. They will forever be the best, even though they are not the best. Haha. If that makes any sense
You need the mirror pick guard for that V when you’re playing Faith No More songs. It’s required.
Your best sound yet, I think, especially on the heavier side.
Well...Engl, aye?
8-10 videos introducing me to bands?
Yes Please?!
Its cool Mike, my long fingernails for fingerstyle ,have a special grossness too.
I caught myself just enjoying the tone. May be the gear or the fingers... or both
I thought that section of the solo from ''Highway Star'' was played by Jon Lord on the keys.
@The-Art-of-Guitar: hey Mike, cool licks, thanks. I usually start looking up one song you're playing, and end up browsing down memory lane from there. No different this time: listening to solos James Murphy's did for Death and Testament (and many other bands), do you know him?
Yessss the Flying V!!!
I know it sucks getting requests all the time but I really think it would be awesome if you continued the artist series... I would love a Josh Homme video!! He got some unusual techniques but I can't find any video out there explaining the way he plays properly as you do!

Im just imagining you trying all his amazing, face-melting, riffs from his time with Kyuss...
"Guitar!" ---> 10:00

Is there any solo you just say no!!

Spot on Mike 😎🎸🎸🍺🍺
YOU NEED TO LET US KNOW WHEN BRUCE IS GOING TO BE ON THE LIVE STREAM. i always catch you're live steams late...
8,) I would like to think you saw my comment on your live stream about whale and wasp.
Awsome videos Series
Nice vibrato too
My friend in my band always says the cemetery gates is hard to play. He doesn’t play it as good as you though haha.
The second half is harder in my opinion, he didn't play that one
You really burned down the house with that great white riff (heh)
I like all the solos but the Weezer solo is my favorite I'm surprised you had that one on your vid👍
Did you learn all these songs by ear?
