Dude! Perfect picks! Evergrey, CoB, A Perfect Circle, what a snapshot to my late teens / early 20's stuff why I also picked up the guitar at first place! And I have your signature axe as my choice of weapon, so there it is man! Perfect influential riffs and perfect signature guitar. Cheers
Holy SHIT Angel is almost 40? Dude looks better than he did when I found him like 9 years ago. Also great selection of riffs that takes inspiration from so many sub genres and styles.
Evergrey is criminally overlooked and has continued to release consistently great quality albums for over 20 years…. And the one of the very best singers in metal
Horizons is definitely a phenomenal album front to back! One of my absolute favorites! So is Darkest Hours “Undoing Ruin”. Absolutely phenomenal album! Each track bleeds into the other so well. All That Remains 2nd album, “This Darkened Heart” is also one of my favorite full albums. Testament’s “The Formation of Damnation” album is probably THE most perfect and flawless metal record I’ve ever heard though. I can’t pinpoint a single flaw in it. Love that record.
I’m so glad Mer De Noms got some love. I remember seeing them play the whole thing live when they did a few shows in LA playing all their albums all the way through years ago. This album was so instrumental in inspiring writing for me, too! And C# standard>>>>>>
Wow, never expected him to say Parkway Drive!! I mean I absolutely love the band, one of my favourite also, just never expected him to say that! Listening to this guy, I hear so much Steve Vai and Satriani, always thought they were his key ppl! :D
If you listen to An Erisian Autumn, in particular the instrumental (without lead guitar) you'll hear straight up "Idols and Anchors" from Parkway Drive influence. Lots of people get distracted by the lead guitar that they overlook the song itself, take a listen :) angelvivaldi.bandcamp.com/track/an-erisian-autumn-backing-track
It really hit me deep when you started playing five months. That intro riff, i knew from day 1 of hearing it that it would be super fun to play. The horizons album changed my life. But five months was the 1st pwd song i learned all the way through, and it was my biggest challenge at that time.
haha im 31 and Columbia house (thanks to my grandma and my uncle that was only 10 yrs older than me) was how I got so many cds back in like 2002 as a kid.
Yes yes yes for Everygery's Watching the Skies!! That riff has gone through my head so many thousands of times over the decades! Those early Evergrey albums are basically perfect.
Wow! Didn't expect Evergrey, one of my favourite bands ever! They are one of the few bands (for me) with such emotional expressions, thanks to Tom Englund mainly. What to say of the atmosphere they create with keys and guitars? Maybe that's what I catched in you when I first heard your song - A Mercurian Summer!
Since 20+ years I could NEVER play Crazy On You quite right... And then I was watching some Heart live performances here on YT and seen her strumming away!!! 🧐😲😱 JUST LOOK AT HER GO! THAT'S why I don't sound like her!
Hell yes! Evergrey! I've loved them since I discovered the 'In Search of Truth' album (which was their latest album at the time). Seen them live a few times. Such a great and criminally underrated band.
Dude!! I remember those subscriptions! The little catalog was awesome. In would pick cds based on the album artwork. Discovered alot of bands this way.
I agree about being openminded about music! Your cover of "Beautiful" by Ferry Corsten introduced me to .. Ferry Corsten. A lot of us metalheads miss out by limiting ourselves to genre or subgenres. I listen to everything from trap rap and tech death to country, Punjabi rap, reggaeton and surf rock and indie. It was the drive to mimic the piano which caused sweep picking and it was the saxophone that pushed Alan Holdsworth legato playing. Thank you again and be safe brother! P.S. "Crazy on You" outro is gorgeous. The Wilson sisters are goated for vocals and guitar!
I'm 34, I've taken plenty of time and found what I like. I hate this idea that people should force themselves to partake in activities they don't enjoy. I don't like pop, I don't like country, I don't like MOST music, actually. The sound waves go into my ears which sends signals to my brain and my brain says "I don't like that". It's a pretty simple concept to grasp.
nice COC shoutout. I also am a metal head who listens to a lot of different genres. I don't see the point in discriminating or having 'guilty pleasures'
Awesome video and musical taste. Would like to see some more for sure. Minus the Bear, NIN, Deftones, My Morning Jacket, Silverchair, Rx Bandits, Buena Vista Social Club, the Refused, … just to name a few
I got into Evergrey about the time The Inner Circle came out. I had been playing guitar for over a decade and they were still a HUGE influence on me. Cheers, Angel! This was fucking great.
Metal fans arent open minded and definitely wouldn’t t give any other genre a chance. Hell, metal fans cant even agree on what metal is, for example Ghost, people still argue they're not real metal and they've been around for over a decade!!
@user-ch2uq9py3u Thats a massive stretch, how can you vouch for 'other parts of the world'? Also you didnt comment of the fact that metal fans cant decide whether Ghost is metal or not.
@user-ch2uq9py3u You could literally just write, 'where i'm from', addition of 'other parts of the world' implies other places including where you live. Idk whether you've missed all the memes about metalheads arguing over 'technical death metal' or 'brutal tech death metal' and linking park or ghost not being real etc etc. Maybe you dont but a lot of metalheads have a massive superiority complex over the music they listen to.
"We're gonna be jumping around all over the place!" plays a bunch of Perfect Circle stuff lol Just kidding. Nice effort put into this one compared to most.
To say this was fun for me was an understatement. Thank you guy so much for having me!
sending love from WA state!!!
4:40 berp

I love Jeff from Parkway. Didn't expect this! thanks man
Yeah......The hollow. Memories.
RIP Alexi Laiho ❤
Anytime you wonder how somebody can be this good at music, just take a moment and listen to them talk about music. Thank you.
Holy SHIT Angel is almost 40? Dude looks better than he did when I found him like 9 years ago. Also great selection of riffs that takes inspiration from so many sub genres and styles.
bro does not skip leg day, that´s for sure ^^
love the passion for music
Yes, I absolutely loved that lick in 'The Hollow'!
Omg, 'Downfall'! I feel like we are the same person 😂
Should of had him do his top 20. I love how eclectic his influences are.
Evergrey is criminally overlooked and has continued to release consistently great quality albums for over 20 years…. And the one of the very best singers in metal
Gonna give them a shot I had never heard of them
Finally, someone mentioned Evergrey! They are amazing!
Horizons is definitely a phenomenal album front to back! One of my absolute favorites!

Did you really just start this with APC riffs? Hell yes my man. Brother from a different mother for sure.
Agree with lots he said, especilally that Mer de noms is definitely amazing.
8:00 ATR six banger
I’m so glad Mer De Noms got some love. I remember seeing them play the whole thing live when they did a few shows in LA playing all their albums all the way through years ago. This album was so instrumental in inspiring writing for me, too! And C# standard>>>>>>
This was a lot of fun to watch and listen to. Not gonna lie hearing Angel play a pop punk riff was awesome.
Crazy to hear Angel reference the skank beat. I am instantly a fan of anything that uses that beat.
Wow, never expected him to say Parkway Drive!! I mean I absolutely love the band, one of my favourite also, just never expected him to say that! Listening to this guy, I hear so much Steve Vai and Satriani, always thought they were his key ppl! :D

Yeah!!!!!!!! A perfect circle, oh man I listened to the album the whole day! Loving Memories.

Same here, across the board!

agreed!
thumbs up for the burp!
Yooo!!! After watching Musician Mansion, you are a wonderful host!!
Kind of you to say, appreciate that :) Just you wait until Season 2 drops!
Love the picks on this one! You can really appreciate the spread of influence in your playing.
Thanks so much, glad you dug the video!
Excellent interview!
Oh, it makes a lot more sense now why I love Angel Vivaldi's music so much!
Good stuff! And man! That guitar😤 😂😂 also damn it, Columbia house got us all around our age! It did some cool cds
Very cool! Also, he doesn't skip legday 💪🏽
sac-religious to do so haha
@Angel Vivaldi True, haha. Thanks for being such an inspiration for the whole community, brother!

Angel is such a treasure. What a fun video!
Great video Angel....keep them coming! And that Charvel is 🔥
Horizons was ridiculous. All these covers were 🤯. Crazy on you was magnificent. Thanks for doing this video!!
dang, thanks so very much!
nice choices , im also love all of those riffs
4:32 most important moment
Hell yes! Evergrey! I've loved them since I discovered the 'In Search of Truth' album (which was their latest album at the time). Seen them live a few times. Such a great and criminally underrated band.
Oh man, APC on vinyl showed me a new world of sound.
Great 👍
Wow, this was incredible. Non-stop bangers!
Great stuff from Angel as always. And the guitar designs are always sick.

youre one of the real ones, David. Appreciate you man!
@@AngelVivaldi Appreciate it!

What a fucking list, man! APC, COB, Blink 182 , Everygrey! Damn! I got to see COB with Evergrey back in the day in like '04. Awesome show.
Just like a...musical...STD...THAT'S WHY IM SO ITCHY!!
DAMN YOU ANGEL VIVALDI!!!
You're like the only other person I've ever heard, let alone spoken to, advocate for Evergrey. I also don't know why *no one* seems to know that band!
I knew maybe 2 people here in the states that knew of them, guessing they've always been more of a EU band... but still! lol
8:07 Are you hinting there's gonna be a part 2? 😍
Part 2 came out this past April, 2023 :)
I got into Evergrey about the time The Inner Circle came out. I had been playing guitar for over a decade and they were still a HUGE influence on me. Cheers, Angel! This was fucking great.
Hells yeah, not the songs i was expecting, but they were all killer. Never heard of Evergrey, i'll have to check them out. That riff was nasty.
At all times ur music angel
I have the blue Charvel Vivaldi but I really wish they made a 6 string version of the one in this video! 🤘🤘🤘
If I ever find you, I'll buy you a beer; you're awesome!
youre the man, appreciate that!
your guitar is beautiful !
4:32
To be fair! Jonas Brothers was my gateway to playing guitar so you could say! they were my gateway to metal haha
oh shit hahahaha
Please tell me that finish will come in a six string version as well.
Full cover of Downfall when?
Parkway Drive maaaan... 1st and 2nd album was the bomb!!!! I was so disappointed in their change of ways for the 3rd album and after that.
🤝👍
min 4:32
Boneyards
Smoke em if you got em
Swing
Nuff said
Parkway drive GOAT
Trojan of Bodom
Mer de nom nom nom eaten and smile😉
I should make a "The Riffs that Taught Me" video, but it will just be one riff from every Metallica song up through the black album.
Who didn't get Savage Garden through Columbia house.
Furthermore, who didn't order the 10 CD deal from every one of thier relatives houses?
Damn... talk about a missed opportunity LOL
Agreed. That Perfect Circle album was just incredible in a lame world of TRL pop

@user-ch2uq9py3u ua-cam.com/video/pCJ79kp4_fc/v-deo.html Finn is far more eloquent than me hahaha
"We're gonna be jumping around all over the place!" plays a bunch of Perfect Circle stuff lol Just kidding. Nice effort put into this one compared to most.
That guitar is like a goal of a 7 string... Hell yeah!
Lol Columbia house, kids today don’t know.
what a time to experience!
0:15 I hate both of those bands and refuse to learn that shit lol.
While this was fun none of the songs really stood out as that original to me. Im starting to wonder if im just a picky asshat lol
Boring riffs
Definitely a lot better than all your mindless chugging videos
