In addition to the whole rear-wheel steering debacle, forklifts are also really heave (I think that one weights 2.5-3 tons depending on spec) and all of the weight is at the back as balast so they don't tip over. Looks like the modder did a pretty good job modeling the driving capabilities :). might be better with a 3 ton weight at the front to counter out the back :D Also some spoilers
Me: trying to get better at AC to maybe not embarrass myself too much in the Ferrari Hublot series Jimmer: Out here hotlapping Forklifts this is exactly what I'm here for
You're having a hard time sliding, because when a forklift slides you need to turn away from the skid not into it. When it sides the steering wheel are now pointing towards the inside, but if you give them even more angle there's a chance you can get them to catch and flick the truck back into line before the big spin. I may download this and give it a shot. I would love to drive a forklift not governed to 6mph lol

I’d like to see more BeamNG Drive. There’re a lot of mods with ridiculous confiqs. There’s a mod a with a rocket powered minivan, it also has a ramplow
Part of my job is driving forklifts/tele handlers. most forklifts are rear wheel steering and front wheel drive. Until you get into stuff like telehandlers and specialized equipment that can have 4 wheel steer and all wheel drive. some off road larger forklifts even have a stick shift shifter with hydrostatic transmissions.
Small forklifts typically weigh 8,000-10,000lbs. They are far heavier than they look. Forklifts are typically rear-wheel steer, front-wheel drive, rear-engined and are not equipped with rear brakes. The far left pedal is not a clutch, but is called an inching pedal. It disconnects the engine from the transmission and applies brakes so that throttle can be applied to operate the hydraulics without moving the truck. Forklifts have at least two hand-operated levers but can sometimes have three. The far-left will raise the mast when pulled down and lower the mast when pushed up. The second lever will tilt the mast backward when pulled down and forward when pushed up. On forklifts equipped with a third lever on the far-right, the lever will shift the forks left when pulled down and right when pushed up. The fork width is usually set manually by leaving the operator seat, unlatching the forks at the mast and physically pushing them to the desired position before relatching them and pushing them in to lock. Forklifts are extremely prone to tipping in sudden turns, especially when heavily loaded and/or travelling too fast. Most only have a single-speed transmission, but some can have more. The front axle is almost always bolted directly to the frame with no suspension whatsoever.
I spun a forklift once working for K-Mart. Unbeknownst to us someone did an oil change in our parking lot. I was driving around moving pallets of wood chips and as I came around a corner I hit a massive puddle of oil the dude left. The forklift did quite a graceful slow motion pirouette. Scared me senseless but luckily the forks were lowered and I didn't have a load so it didn't topple over. We found the remnants of the oil quart containers thrown into the bushes.
Your lap was invalidated because your forks don’t have a hitbox! Seriously, that was good fun to watch... I’m a forklift operator and this made my day. lol
In business news today Amazon has announced that they will be retrofitting all forklifts in their fleet with single turbo 1JZ engines. An Amazon spokesperson stated that the initiative fits into the company’s new strategic objective to “Just fully send it”
Forklifts are extremely heavy with most of the weight at the rear to prevent them falling over when moving heavy stuff (that little fella weighs 1500kg which is fairly realistic), they're also often powered by propane so you can drive them indoors without smoking the place out
you know jimmy, you could do a commentary for a race in assetto corsa where AI drive the forklift and other stupid mods and see how they handle the "cars" :D

Hey, Jimmer, you should have a go on Farming Simulator 19 on a stream one day. I know it sounds really boring, but it's actually kind of fun! It's compatible with steering wheels so you should be able to use your wheel on it, and it's a very different style of driving to your usual track racing stuff (lots of slow speed, full lock, wax-on-wax-off kind of stuff) and of course, there's lots of ways for things to go wrong (you can roll vehicles...) You'll get to drive all sorts of crazy stuff like forklifts, skid steer loaders, tractors, combine harvesters and forestry machinery to name a few (btw, tractors are really fun! They're basically little Transformers lol. You can hook up loads of things to them. They're quite nippy around corners too!). You can even buy trucks (American and European ones) so you could even bring over Ol' Minty to make your deliveries in (you actually have to drive your produce to different places to sell it, kinda like Truck Simulator but on a smaller scale). You can even download mods for it to add in stuff like Lamborghini tractors, weather seasons and new maps (like rural English village farms with very tight country lanes). There's even mods for actual cars like Ford Mustangs (and trust me, a 'fast' car in a farming simulator that is not built for cars to go fast is a recipe for hilarious disaster lol) (Oh, you can automate workers too, so you don't have to plough fields yourself lol)
The thought occurs to me that it might be fun to have a race between the most cursed vehicles imaginable. I'm talking three wheels, rear steering, top-heavy, etc.
So they do have some really big forklifts, that have like 500 and 600 horsepower. They are designed for moving cargo containers that are fully loaded. Jimmy, according to the spec sheet the weight is 1552 kg, and probably 60% of that is sitting over the rear wheels. You know what it's missing through this whole experience? It needs more "Clacking" when it bumps the forks around even on the bumps. The experience would be amazingly hilarious and immersive as if you're driving a legit fork truck! If you smash into a wall or something (Even crash) it should absolutely give you the ultimate loud "Clack-THUD" noise you've ever heard from those 2 front forks! Pin this so Jimmer can have a laugh and also to give the modder an update idea for it!
