    Did your pediatrician advise you to supplement your baby with vitamin D?

      @@enjoy5547 Thank you so much! I always recommend you follow your healthcare provider's medical advice. That being said, maybe they are not aware of the latest recommendations. Try providing them with the following article:
      pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/122/5/1142.full
      If your provider is still not on board, also seek out a second opinion! I think vitamin D is essential to good health.

    Curious if you have a recommendation for baby probiotics? If yes, how do you choose one and are some brands better than others?

    I think my baby is suffering from vitamin D deficiency. He will turn 11 months in less than a week but yet he isn't crawling, he looks strong but he's legs are somehow curvy which I think could be rickets.
    I'm really worried because those younger than him are crawling and could stand
    The truth is I didn't give him vitamin D from the beginning because his paediatrician didn't recommend. I just started this week, hope it will help him

      You're welcome! I'm glad it helped. Vitamin D supplementation is so important for so many reasons so I am glad you have started. In the meantime, ask your pediatrician for a referral to have your baby assessed by a neurologist, orthopedist, and physical therapist. Early intervention is key with any issue in our babies. An orthopedist can evaluate the curvature of your son's legs and determine if any treatment is needed. A neurologist can evaluate your son to determine if there is any neurological issue causing the delay in crawling and a physical therapist can evaluate your son to see if he may benefit from some physical therapy.
      Crawling after 11 months can be normal for some babies. However, evaluation to make sure nothing else is going on is important. Most evaluations on babies are simple. They are questionnaire's for you, x-rays, maybe a little blood work, and whole bunch of tests that look like games. I am not suggesting your child has Autism but I want to tell you my experience. Our son has Autism. He was diagnosed at 13 months because I knew something was wrong and I pushed for all the evaluations possible. We were told he would never walk, talk or be potty-trained. He is currently in a regular high school on track to graduate with a regular diploma and head off to college. This was all possible due to early intervention. Have you son checked out! You will feel better in the long wrong! Good luck!

    Do i still need to expose my baby to sunlight if my 2 month old baby is already taking vitamin d3 suppliments

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for asking! If your baby is taking Vitamin D, you don't need to expose them to sunlight for the purpose of making Vitamin D. However, humans thrive on sunlight in ways that go beyond just Vitamin D production. This afternoon, the first video in my infant sleep series will come out and one of the things I talk about is exposing your baby to light during the day which helps them sleep better at night. The other thing is while your baby may not need sunlight, I recommend a minimum of minutes of sunlight per day for mothers. It goes a long way towards helping your recovery from birth, your mood, and your sleep!

      I'm sorry to hear this is happening. You should call the pediatrician to let them know what is going on.
