I had the pleasure of actually meeting Dale several years back in San Diego. Told her how I wanted to 'be' her when I was a kid....I could tell it really touched her. She is so under-rated! Love this woman!!! She was then what Lady Gaga is now...but people don't remember THIS Queen...and that makes me sad. :(

It was an accidental meeting and so I had nothing to sign, so she signed my T-shirt with me in it. I was thought this band was excellent and I still do. Listen to them all the time. Wow. I’m not sure you have any idea what your words meant to her. I mean she knows she’s not what she used to be, and as people, we can lose our self value especially an artist like her after these decades, and I know for a fact she will cherish your words for the rest of her life and she’ll never forget you. You’re absolutely wonderful for telling Dale that and you made the most of meeting her.

For those not in the know, Terry Bozzio is a classically trained drummer. The man has chops. It is a testament to musical diversity, and no matter what, a musician is a musician and should never be judged by the music they decide to play. I imagine back in day when Missing Persons hit the scene, those who did know about Zappa or U.K. maybe would not have taken Terry seriously. However, if you listen carefully with what he was doing on the drums with MP, he was innovative, versatile and dynamic. One of my favorite drummers.

Also, some might never have known that Patrick O'Hearn is an awesome ambient music composer...he had a couple of New Age albums out back in the 80's, too :> And that drumming on "Spring Session 'M'", was freaking AMAZING.

Missing Persons was one of those bands who sounded just as good (or better) live as they did in the studio. They were always on point, always polished and incredible, and they had some of the best lyrics of this era. Obsess about Dale all you want, but as a whole the band was phenomenal.
I saw Missing Persons in L.A and Jon Waite from the Baby's opened . It was 83 l think . Got buzzed that night . That was a great show and Dale if you read this l always thought you were the hottest chic in rock n Roll. To all those old partyers from the 70s and 80s l hope you all have a happy forever. 😎
Terry is one of the best drummers in the world. There aren't many that are as good as he is. Period ! Look the entire band are all phenomenal musicians, but the bass player is just over the moon good.
that's why I like Industrial bands. They take influence from the experimental sounds of this part of the 1980s, lots of layers and build-ups to a climatic chorus
I was in college early eighties and had a rock band while a student. We played everything off MTV and were quite popular. Playing MS was a joy. They were one of my favorites then and still are today, and I’m 62 next month. All the musicians were exceptional and the writing was very innovative for rock. I truly miss the original line up, and miss the 80’s even more. Great music during that era …

A band of amazing musicians the talent in this group is just insane from Terrys drumming to Patricks bass which is so much a part of the previous album to Warrens playing even Dales interesting vocal style. They were to good for this album.
Mental hopscotch is my fave The Drums and that guitar feedback solo and Dales voice... but this has a nice groove and Dale, I can't help it , to this day, Love her big hair, Gorgeous face, Perfect figure etc.... And that Unique voice that you recognize right away.
Great visuals. Its gets hypnotic after a few seconds of watching. It seems simple today, but t his would have been cutting edge computer imagery at the time it came out.

Surrender Your Heart used to be my top Missing Persons song before I discovered this video, of course directed by Zbigniew Rybczynski, who directed the similar-looking All the Things She Said for Simple Minds and Opportunities for the Pet Shop Boys.
I prefer the earlier incarnation of MP when they were hard edge wave. This version, while good for what it is, just doesn't have the punch the older version does. IDK if they were listening too much to the studio execs or whatever, but... (and Dale, OMG!)
Summer of 1986 I believe, just started to be a fan, bought 2 copies the week it was released. 1st printing had some production issues as the 2nd side was mastered at a slightly higher speed than the 1st so dale sounded like a high pitched mouse. Over all the record flopped , never understood why they went away from their orginal sound with Ken Scott on Spring Session M in 1982. Phenomenal cutting edge new wave music at the time with commercial appeal and absolute top notch musicianship. Rhyme and reason( 1984), had great production and playing but way too experimental to have commercial succuces. While color in your life was just a dumb ideal of dance oriented Benard Edwards production that didn't fit missing persons

Pretty sure Madonna was already massively successful by the time this song came out in 1986. There are some comparisons to be drawn between Dale and Madonna, but I don't think either was imitating the other. I think that what you could say is that Dale is rock and LA, while Madonna is dance and NY.
She was the skilled lead vocalist of a very skilled band. Not trying to be an egotistical pop star like the other two, who are talented in their own right, but surrounded by pop slop backgrounds. MP smoked every band around back then.

To suggest that she 'emerged' only at that point is naive. As is now very obvious, Madonna was highly ambitious and had been trying to make a name for herself in the NY club scene for years before she released her first music. My point is that Madonna and Dale B had been involved in very different music scenes for years, developing their look etc entirely independently of each other. In the pre-internet era, it would have been quite difficult for one to 'plagiarise' the other. And for the record, while I can't fault her determination, I dislike Madonna's singing and music, whereas I love MP, and to say that Madonna is even close to being like DB is something of an insult to Dale!

I have to give Patrick O’Hearn credit. His playing is slightly awkward, be he’s always playing the right groove and it’s strong. He’s usually up in the mix which drives most of their hits. But they are quite the power trio aren’t they?
Lady CACA couldn't walk in Dale's stilettos even if they were motorized. Dale was a ground breaker, an Icon that has been imitated but never duplicated. At age 56 still going strong which started wayyyyy back in the 70's with Frank Zappa. Caca will be forgotten and hopefully dead when she turns 56. I blame Cher. Now a days every "artist" going into the studio, its automatically assumed they are going to use/need autotune.
Anyone wonder where Lady GaGa got her insperation from ?? I think it's clear that she took from Dale Bozzio.....Dale was the first to put pink dye in her hair.....long before Lady GaGa and Pink and Christina etc.
