Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy the longer version... uploading tonight!
tried this, my waterfall definitely looks like it's hovering in space :D
Well done for having a go. If your waterfall looks like it is hovering, try softening edges here and there on the waterfall. Hope this helps 😀
@@KarenRiceArt thank you! I will try :)

I really listened
Thank you Virginia 😊
Amazing video as always Karen calmingly explained how you've planned so it easier to achieve detail depth and colours in your subject, enjoyed this video and found it inspirational. Thanks greatly appreciated stay safe
Thank you so much! So pleased you enjoyed this tutorial and found it inspirational! Take care 😀
Wonderful painting! Could spatter masking fluid then remove it at the finish for the spray if you don't have a good white gouache on hand.😉
Great idea Annette! It will work just as well! Have fun
Karen, this is absolutely fantastic. For some reason, I always have a hard time splattering with gouache. It’s never as white as yours. When I water it down, the splatter looks grey.
Thank you Sonia! I know what you mean about the gouache... sometimes doing it twice helps :)
This is beautiful, Karen Rice, & your tutorial is so good. I have painted only 2 waterfalls, both from Angela Fehr's videos, I really enjoyed them and want to paint this one soon. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much Bessie! Really pleased you like this one! Waterfall are beautiful and so much fun to paint!
Did you spritz the drawing along the way to keep it damp? I can never keep my painting damp that long
Hi Barbara, thank you for your question. I dried it in between stages, then either wet in again with a brush. If an area does dry too quickly, spritzing is a great idea :)
Hi KR. I followed this today and glad I tried. My favorite bit is the purple-ish part in the upper right. I have a question: my paper dries quickly ... misting with spray leaves uneven wetness. I've been trying to overcome dryness with just wetting by brushing with clear water. What do you think, you most prolific poster? (Always cheered to see a new vid! You don't disappoint!)
Hi Ann, thank you for your comment. I have produced a video about how to stop watercolours drying to fast, here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/CeK7QL-mkPA/v-deo.html I hope you find it helps you. Really pleased you are enjoying the tutorials... thank you 😊
KR, you are a gem for getting back to me with this suggestion! I watched the video and will follow it Monday (my next day off.) Of course it's a lovely painting and want to learn how to deal with drying paper BUT I must mention how gorgeous those trees are. Thank you. Staying tuned.
When you say “look below” I can’t find anything.
Hi Elizabeth, sorry you are having trouble... check out the beginning of this video where I explain where to find the description. If you cannot see SHOW MORE... click the down arrow below the video on the right, that should also take you to the description. Hope this helps.
Karen
Thank you so much for your question about masking fluid: Check out my in-depth video about masking fluid: ua-cam.com/video/p44udLKnQ6w/v-deo.html. Hope this was helpful :)
