I wish I saw this before going to the dealership about that annoying rattle. Spent way too much time and money fixing what was not causing the rattle. You know much more than they do! Thank you!!!
So after weeks of trying I decided to go out at 8pm and was determined to get my shift knob off. Got in and was straight demotivated. But I started to pull up on it and twist left to right very slowly trying to feel for a notch or something, and when twisting to the right it just popped off. Was in pure shock. So it is not thors hammer guys. Idk if the pulling, shaking, or making the plastic crunch with pressure loosened it a bit but it was so damn easy to come off i was slightly mad but more happy. Again, pull up(not with full force just enough to make the knob move up from resting position) twist left to right slowly, should pop right off.

I don't know shit about cars and would have most likely screwed this up attempting to take the shift knob off since my 2016 Genesis Coupe Ultimate started rattling a few days ago and I just figured out that it was the shift know. Now I need to figure out how to fix it.
@@210_bk2 yes! I’ve had my 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 ultimate for 3 years now, and it’s so worth it. Every now and then I will have to to retighten the adapter, but it’s rare. I just keep a spare Allen key set in my glove box. The shifts are so much smoother with a heavier shift knob too!
@@greenninjetti4851 in torn between this and just going short throw. It wouldn’t be much of a cost difference unless they have cheaper knobs. Also with the adapter, can you only use their knobs or is the adapter universal
@@210_bk2 you def could go that route too. I personally think if you want to have a bit more options to customize or add some flare to the interior and experience that it’s worth a raceseng shifter. As for the adapter, I’m not entirely sure if the threading on other shift knobs of X companies will be consistent. But at least raceseng has many options so it’s easy just to have the adapter fitted for the gen, and swap out knobs when you can/want from raceseng. I think something they have holiday sales or even right now I thing they are doing clearance on certain items. They have different styles and weighted knobs so you can still achieve some quicker throws in sense. At least I feel it... especially from the OEM knob. Clean and slick looking but plastic ...
M V shake left to right as you’re pulling up but be careful because I ended up popping myself in the cheek. Mine did require some force so it caught me in the face.

yeah i feel you tehre i got my new nob and some other stuff minor things like emblems coming in and plasti dip thinking of getting some str wheels but all in time nice.. im in the LA area. we should go a gen meet bro!
After pulling with all my strength, twisting aggressively, I figured it out. Pull up and wiggle side to side QUICKLY. The speed is the key here. If you use slow forceful twisting movement it will not work

Pulling on the knob does not remove it. How did you the knob off?

Does the knob reinstall ok if you remove it carefully? Or does it sit pretty loosely once reinstalled?
I’ve removed it dozens of times and reinstalled it and I’ve had no issues
That one is the clip one? I buy one and it’s a screw the look the same and it’s so difficult to find I have to go to a dealer
