    Do you have any updated recommendations for some of the products you have linked? Looks like the LED grow strips are no longer available. Also amazon is showing the botanium hydro pots at 110 dollars for me. But on their kickstarter it shows retail price of $79 did they go up in price or is there somewhere cheaper to purchase them? Thanks for all the info, I ordered my Bounty today! :) Very excited to give hydroponics another go!

      Sure! All links have been updated today.
      I use this strips:

      The Botanium is great and I would check out their website directly as they still sell them.botanium.se/collections/frontpage/products/botanium-kit?variant=51291156679 They should be $65 and totally worth it.

    We had a thai basil last 962 days in our Aerogarden. Currently have a purple basil at 604 days. We've been using Aerogardens for a good 15 years or so. Love them. I always dry my extra herbs. I have a dehydrator, but it's easier to just lay them on paper towels for a few days. Saves on buying expensive dried herbs.

    Hi Steve, Thanks for sharing great videos about the Bounty Basic with me. I’m learning so much from you. I’m mostly blind , & painfully crippled, Lyms disease. I set up my 1st AeroGarden Bounty basic 4 days ago . I ca’t read the Tips, , but can read the guide, & emails is/comments, with a magnifier .I have a serious problem; I see that your Bounty has the same buttons/ tapping system as mine . Everybody else has more options/buttons. I set it up , H2O. plant food ,9 lettuce pods, set current time, tapped quick plant . Light came on/stayed on, pump came for a few minutes . Light stayed on for about 17 hours turned off , didn’t come back on after the next 7 hours . The pump should come 5 minutes every hour, Hasn’t come on again for 5 days!!! There’s a reason , in trying to find a way to get the light & pump to a schedule, I can’t keep the correct time on the clock?? Every time I tap the arrows to look at settings It changes the current time? The arrows seen to have Double duty , that I don’t understand. You have such a calm teaching voice, , which provides excellent results . Keep up the good work.

      Hi bunny Lee. You’re most welcome :) it sounds like your buttons might not be functioning correctly. Have you tried contact AeroGarden customer service? The pump is super quiet when the water is high, I thought mine wasn’t working either but it was. If you go in the menu and select pump you can test it and it will run for one minute. Let me know how it goes. :)

    • @steevthetech

      I think a fan could be over kill but it would not hurt. You can easily tap each flower gently ten times to assist with pollination. :) I have typically seen this unit cost around $3 a month to operate.

      @@steevthetech I don't know anything about gardening. I just ordered my plant yesterday. It comes with 6 pods of tomatoes in assuming then I purchased custom herbs and salad but at what point will I be able to use the extra pods? Do I have to get another garden? Or can I put the herb seeds with the salad seeds so I have room for the tomato seeds? Or is there a point where I can remove a plant and put the tomatoes in.

    • @steevthetech
      @steevthetech  4 роки тому +3

      It’s best to plant like plants together. The herbs will all grow well together. Tomatoes will take much longer and requires more growing space. You can get another AG system if you’d like to grow other plants. The lettuce will grow fast and overshadow the herbs or tomatoes. I only grow lettuce with other lettuce, herbs with other herbs, etc. I hope that answered your question. :)

  • @Smellslikegelfling
    @Smellslikegelfling 2 роки тому

    The main problem I see with these systems is that the cost and time doesn't justify it versus just buying fresh herbs. If you regularly cook with cilantro, you can easily use an entire bunch in a week. The aerogarden won't grow enough to keep up. Meanwhile faster growing herbs like basil will mostly go to waste. There's also the cost of nutrients, grow mediums, and electricity. For the same cost you can just buy fresh herbs when you need them. If you're going to grow herbs as a hobby that's fine, but these things won't save you money at all.

    • @steevthetech
      @steevthetech  2 роки тому +1

      I couldn't disagree more. I rotate my herbs and no longer buy them at the store. I even have extras to give to my neighbors. Basil never goes to waste. When I have extra basil, it is easily dried out and cut up to make dried basil. Same with dill. Dill grows like a weed and we make salt mix with dill all the time. Granted if you are feeding a small army perhaps you can try the AeroGarden Farm :)

    • @steevthetech
      @steevthetech  3 роки тому +4

      I do not know wha you mean by serving sizes. It all depends on what you are making. In any case, we always have enough basil, romaine lettuce, chives, etc. If you harvest correctly and properly maintain your garden you will be amply rewarded.
