Hand trapping is also great when someone tries to grab and immobilize your hand to stop you from hitting them. I like your cool, calm collective way of teaching.
I like the legal and incriminating implications that you mentioned with regards to engaging in a fight. It is also important to point out what de-escalation methods need to be employed as part of the rules for engagement.
*_I always dig the videos on trapping, joint manipulation, and pain compliance! Wing Chun isn’t my root art, but we share a lot of the same motion, concepts, and principles in Kenpo with Wing Chun, as well as with the Filipino and Indonesian Martial Arts!_* *_Great video, Guys! I’ll be rewatching this one a few more times when I get home!_* 🙏🏻📿🪷😎 🐅🔥⛩🏯🥋🧘🏻♂️☯️🏯⛩🔥🐉
i just found out about this Channel. He really knows what he's talking about in Wing Chun. My teacher sometimes taught me to attack the limbs instead of just blocking... since you are blocking anyways, slap the joints. The wing chun blocks really are crazy lethal.
2 helpful positive comments: first is your ability enter and close on an aggressor is very trained response and very good. Second, the back fist target as taught me is the ear/behind ear/GB20
1-Hi in my short experience, limited trapping can work in the right time and distance. 2- If you lower your hand like that you will get a cross or even Haymaker.. 4-When trapping be careful of elbows, knees, headbutts, headlocks and takedowns . 5-There are people out there that won't fight your trap but go around it , leaving your head exposed.. 6- If you train like I do, Always going forward aggressively, you will find that even if you succeed with your first trap, the follow up will be next to impossible to complete. Thank you.
Budo Brothers..,. try "blocking or slapping hands" on the joints. that's what i do sometimes. But this is video is golden on Wing chun man! Keep it going!
Very good because he shows the reality and the weakness. That's why ip man said: always strong arns. If it's strong you won't be able to trap it 💯 so you don't push but you pull
Don’t buy into this “you’re a female so you’re a victim” mentality” you’re as capable of defending yourself as anyone else, you actually have advantages like the element of surprise, and you’re tall. You could probably kick my ass. Some people can smell fear, and when you project that you are scared people can pick up on that. Carry a weapon, or at least have something on you. But you can also attack spots like the eyes or groin, those techniques will take anyone out. Train them all the time like Bruce Lee did and you will become very effective, of course, unless your life is in danger try not to gouge out someone’s eye lol.
How would this work in an open stance? Would you still drop the lead hand and use the rear to pak? It seems like the angle would be difficult vs a jab.
Hello Kevin, I hope you don't take this as a criticism of your ability, but I would much prefer if you use a bigger opponent, because even without Wing you would still overcome your assistant. All the trouble I have experience has always been with bigger and stronger people because they have the advantage as I am only about 140 pounds. Let's face it, a weedy little chap is unlikely to start trouble with someone like you.
4:34 the reason trapping like this does not work in real fights: the attacker does not leave his arm extended after throwing a punch and stand immobile, waiting for you to do something. It's that simple 5:00 again, no one stand still like that holding up a blocking hand in a real fight - life is not a kung fu movie
Then why did my dad who trained wing chun 20 years ago block my every jab, uppercut and whatever I threw at him full force for a minute straight? Why would this art even exist if it didn't work. The useless shit has been lost in history
When you practice pock down and then across, and your opponent does the same thing and you do it as fast as you can over and over and over. A normal person can't touch you.
You need to show it in a real fight working. The people learned what you are showing. But when they get in a real fight they get there ass handed to them.
The Pak Sao is the most overrated Wing Chun move! It's extremely hard to pull one off "and quite frankly a waste of time" with someone who's good at a jab or not even that good with the jab.In your example his face is wide open for your left hand. with your elbow connected to your hip you could slice right thru his jab like a sword for the money shot! If your goal is for a knock out like i'm assuming it is. Good example of the Pak Sao though there's better moves.
In wing-chun pak sao indeed not the best move for the job. The hand has a relatively small surface area compared to the forearm. Often an elbow and forearm snap are used to deflect straight punches instead.
I’d be very cautious and mindful following this discipline and/or others similar to it for self defence on the street. Time & time again, we’ve seen, and history has proven to us, that, disciplines such as this aren’t reliable on the street. Does it give you an edge over not doing anything at all? Of course. Would the demonstrator here and/or other masters be able to defend themselves on the street? Most probably. However, be very cautious on believing disciplines like this will allow you to defend yourself on the street. I’d (again based off facts) be much more inclined to learn BJJ, Boxing, Muay Thai, a combination of them all (MMA). Why? Because it’s a lot more practical and has been proven time and time again to be much more effective. There’s a reason why we don’t see masters of this discipline or those similar to it as reigning champions in the UFC. There’s also a reason as to why a reigning UFC champion would walk through masters of this discipline and/or others similar to it. One thing I’ll say, is the demonstrator is saying “he’s guards up, I can’t jab him” Often, the Jab is used to find distance and range without putting your self into a dangerous situation or in “their range” That is particularly important, especially on the street when you’ll most likely be fighting with someone much bigger than you, stronger than you, and without rules. I will say the demonstrator speaks really well, very calm and selective with his words and would be a fantastic coach to anyone I’m very sure. I’m not shaming his discipline, I’m just highlighting food for thought that there’s perhaps more effective styles to learn if you’re looking specifically for self defence that again have proven to be more effective.
Why are all your sparring partners so small?? You're very tall, and obviously, you can't change that, but please use some taller sparring partners to make your lessons more realistic. Because now they're not

I think the best thing about hand trapping is that it's just really fun to practice 😇
Agreed
Ever had a chance to use it in real life?
I agree
It's super fun

@budo brothers I really love the way you teach opens the mind in a great way
Thank you so much for your videos

Thank you 🙏🏽 Master.
Sifu. Thank you for your time and wisdom. Love your videos.
Fantastic! The explanation at the end is really valuable information.
Rapid Fire scene of Brandon doing this technique with AL Leong is beautiful.

I love this, so easy for self defense. I'm pretty big (6') but am also a girl in TX so it's always good to have something in my back pocket.
You’re a 6 foot female? I am scared
@@axelstone3131 wish more people felt like that. At least I wouldn't be scared anymore.
@@hildia5439 scared of what?

If you slap the forearm the guy can bong sao and roll out or huen sao and jut sao. Don’t hit the forearm, hit the elbow.
Pak Sau isn't for breaking guard or frame- it's teaching timing for the counter punch

Do it on a person close 2 your size
why do i feel like this guy is going to pull some mma shit in the last minute
Let me explain "trapping." It looked so cool in the Kung Fu movies that some salesman decided to "teach it" to gullible kids.
You need to show it in a real fight working. The people learned what you are showing. But when they get in a real fight they get there ass handed to them.
Can I just ask one question? Why would you use that little guy? Just saying.

A problem with a lot of martial arts teachers, they talk a lot and demonstrate a little.
