I love the point about SMEs not being able to resist correcting you when you're wrong. I've often used that technique when I've had trouble getting the content from them--just write something and be wrong. It reminds me of a Jodi Picoult quote: "You can always edit a bad page. You can't edit a blank page." That's what we're trying to make SMEs do when we leave holes in the content and ask for SME input--which is why that often doesn't work! I also appreciated the conversation about compliance training and shifting the focus from checking a box to changing behavior. I recently had that exact discussion with a client. Great stuff!

Such a great interview! I vibe with what she said at 36:40 about how scenarios should reflect the environment as much as possible, and fantasy-type storytelling might not be suitable just because it sounds exciting. My very first story-based learning project had the main thread joining all the stages of a forensic investigation (a suspense whodunit story) and my managers loved it. However, when the clients saw it, they rejected the storyboard, because it was "too exciting" for the learners who were taking on the job role for which this learning was being designed. "The job itself is very transactional, and the learners will have regular days of work, with lots procedure and paperwork", they said. They essentially told me to tone it down. :)

Great example of this at play! Thanks so much for sharing, Megha. And I agree, that was an insightful takeaway from this session with Christy.

These videos are great (I have jumped around a bit here) If I can get it together soon (teacher newbie to the field here) I would love to do your course and really build my portfolio.
