A few points after I recorded this video: 1. The sound was directly captured from the device and in a way this video simulates how the handheld would sound if you were using headphones. 2. ArkOS has been released! It can be found here: github.com/christianhaitian/arkos/wiki#download-links 3. Nintendo DS emulators do have some options to map the right stick to a pointer so while it is not ideal, it does make more games playable. Thanks for watching.
Yoooo, from other reviews, I heard that the battery had some kind of issue, if you remove the cable and reseat it properly the battery won't drain as fast
The thing about this is there is no downside, if you want to play PlayStation games and stuff with 4:3 Content you get the same exact screen size as you would if you got a 3.5 inch screen handheld. Then you also get the bonus of playing all the games that need a longer screen such as NES, super Nintendo, DS and vertical shooters. I think all 3.5 inch screens should be replaced with this one.
I'll defiantly be picking this one up. I love my steam deck but I want to play my ROMS on a smaller device and the 1:1 screen makes this unique enough to truly stand out from the rest.
@@blazouf7945 what a perfect shmupheld that can play everything from dodonpachi to crimson glover and pc shmups like project starship X for a budget ???? sxomeone know?

apparently Jelos has issues with battery charge memory and sometimes reseating (unplug/replug) the battery fixes that. But that obviously requires a teardown.
The battery indicator seems to be inaccurate and it's a known bug. I heard it might be fixable with software later. I did some extra testing and research: Left Soul Calibur (Dreamcast) on in Practice Mode Brightness set to 100% Volume set to 0% Wifi on Stayed at 3% for almost 45 minutes 😂 Got 2 hours 50 minutes in this worst case scenario. I've read about other tests too: @screamliner got 4 hours 17 minutes on Dreamcast with brightness at 30% their power light stayed green. @krystman got 5 hours 37 minutes on PICO-8 with medium brightness, as high as 8 hours 12 min in PICO-8 with minimum brightness and wifi off.
Subscribing purely because you showed me ESP Ra De playing on this! I "sadly" put my money towards the RG405V, but I'd honestly love this device down the line for the 1:1 GB/GBC games and all those arcade shmups!
its £60 and all the review does is complain about it - this device is insane for what its designed for! and it can do a lot of stuff quite well at the fringes of what its designed for. People forget that the original gameboy released for the equivalent of £300 if you want that top end experience spend the equivalent and get a switch if you want to play a million retro games get the RGB30!
I would buy this over the Retroid 2S... but the D-Pad on this is terrible... going from left to right for example, you will often inadvertently hit the down or up button as well. So, im going to buy a 2S next week I think. Ive been waiting for about a year for a good-enough one of these to come out.
I have also been waiting, watching reviews for a year. Bought an RGB30 in the recent 11.11 sale. Seems like a good enough device to start with and it doesn’t run Android.
Great info thanks. Do you know if you can play with an external controller, and charge at the same time as plugging it into HDMI? I assume this has a mini HDMI port?
You can see the mini HDMI port at 10:53 I haven't tried it but I think doing all those 3 at the same time should be okay. The difficult part will be researching to find a compatible controller as I'm not sure how good the external bluetooth/wired controller support is on JELOS and ArkOS.

This was very informative. I have ordered the console and can’t wait to get it. I would have liked to see more PSP games and how they run. God of war isn’t really representative for most games. I have an RG35XX and it runs many PSP games really well.
I like the idea of a handheld that has a niche and does it well, rather than try to be a bit of everything. That said, I think the RGB30 would be even more compelling with a faster SOC like the T618 and more memory.
The screen makes people think this is a specialized GB/NGP/Pico-8 machine but in reality, the 1:1 720 screen and HDMI-out makes it VERY versatile. Extremely so.
Mainly interested in vertical shumps, thinking about it, is the height of the console not the same as other 4:3 or 16:9 consoles? ie, I won't get any larger screen with this model than with any other one in the market for those vertical shooters, will I?
The screen bigger in height than something like a Retroid Pocket. If you’re a fan of vertical shooters you definitely should get this, it really is a great handheld for those games.
