Great video on RGB30. Your instructions were the easiest to understand and follow to install ArkOS and change other settings. Thanks for the great work. I really like the RGB30 handheld.
Excellent review. The comparison to the 2DS is not one I've heard before, but is another reason I'll probably pick one of these up eventually.
a sticker with hot key menu for the back would have been nice
little feedback - the music balance was like 30% too loud vs. the speech. had to turn my tv down and then back up!
im seriously considering one of these for exclusively GB, GBC and pico 8
This is the best review of this system I've seen yet and I've seen them all. I absolutely love the fact that you concentrate on the strengths of the system instead of just trying to play everything or show that it can't play psp. Excellent job. I'm subscribed now 👍
Thank you so much! Glad it was helpful!
@@TeamRetrogueon your next video, please show the list of games on the powkiddy rgb 30 and demo each of the games.
I ordered mine as well as an anbernic rg353v. But I'm more hyped for the powkiddy screen
genuine question, why would you order two similar devices instead of a single more powerful device?
Great review! My pros: 1) Emulation (GB, GBC, GBA, NGP, NGPC, GG), Pico 8, vertical arcades 2) WiFi, so it is easy to update and to copy games 3) HDMI works! So I can conect a couple of controllers via USB and use it on a TV 4) Nice Pico 8 portable dev system adding a small keyb + mouse 5) Shaders for 4:3 content work really well on this 720p small screen, so I don't really have the need to use integer scaling to avoid scrolling artifacts or similar defects. -- My cons: battery life, it doesnt hold the charge in sleeping mode very well, at least on JELOS.
did u hear about disconnecting and reconnecting the battery? i; heard that might fix it
Great video! Seems like a good device but hard to choose over Retroid 2s though.
Thanks so much. I agree the RP2S is more than likely a better value for the money, but I like the uniqueness of the RGB30.
3.5" 640x480 screen? Hard pass.
TV/HDMI output makes the 16:9 aspect viable. This is basically a great portable system when plugged into your external source.
Nice review. Could you please elaborate on the potential charging issues that you mention near the end of the video? is there a suspected issue with the device, or we have to be careful about the charger that we use? This sounds concerning a bit, as the last thing we want is to damage the device while charging it. thanks in advance
I use the usbA to usbc cable it came with and it works fine, usbc-usbc does not work.
Great Video!! I just received mine and love it so far. The only issue I have with mine is light bleed on bottom of the screen. Only noticeable on dark scenes but is there 😢
stay easy, I have it too, but not so remarkable 😅
Great video...i love mine..i play alot of gameboy and old 80s arcade games ..fun fun.. and ds also..never had one before..
I ordered one to use a a secondary handheld to take with me when i'm on break from work.
have you tried with JelOS? from what i understand manually upgrading JelOS version instead of OTA update fixes alot of issues. Mine arrives in a few days, il be testing any OS i can get on a card lol to get optimum performance. thank you for the great video sir.
out of the box, i'm getting significantly better performance with dreamcast and n64 with arkos compared to the latest version of jelos.
Nice reaview if you have analogue pocket do a comparison, nice channel
Is the Powkiddy RGB30 more powerful than a Miiyo Mini Plus? How do i know which PS1/N64 may run on the RGB 30?
Hard to tell from the vid but in person, does your screen has a screen light bleed at the bottom?
New Subber
Powkiddy packaging handhelds like drugs.
ScrapBoy/FlipKnight/BunBunSamurai are just about equally good 👍👍👍
If i buy the 256gb model does it come with the games? If so, how many?
For Pico8 fans I feel like that is the hardware designed for it. I can see people getting this for only that.
I want to put jelos on a new better sd card to replace to crap original one. Will it erase my roms on 2nd card when i install? Im worried to try it. Help....
Can you stretch 16:9 video on it?
Just received my order yesterday, the only thing that threw me off was how light it is and the blaring music as soon as I turned it on
I could not secure an Analogue Pocket, despite jumping on the Limited Edition launch the minute it started, so Powkiddy gets my money. Should I get the black or blue one? This device would completely make me want to sell my Anbernic RG353PS, which itself made me want to sell the RG351P, RG353VS and Retroid Pocket 3 Plus. I have a few Vitas and Nintendo DS Lite/DSi/DSi XL/2DS/2DS XL and 3DS consoles that I’m also sorting out, but with a Vita and a Nintendo, DS and PSP emulation is not required, so I could get the best emulator for taller aspect ratios, which this one seems to be...
Could just be me haha same kind of collection and same wish to get the screen ratio❤ interesting device the RGV30
@@cutecoots I actually ordered some Analogue Pockets from scalpers, a black, a blue and a clear one just in case, keeping whichever I like the best. I forgot to mention my RG280V, which is currently the device I play all the GB and GBC games on. The Powkiddy would be a nice addition to the 280V, a DSi or 2DS XL, a Vita and an Analogue Pocket. I think I’ve gone mad with this game project, I don’t even like gaming that much!
@@ComeJesusChrist ok, I wont support scalper. I hate they only have credit cards and the shipping to Germany isnt that easy other than that I would have ordered an analogue too. But wont Support scalper. Have a lot of fun with your stuff 🥳✌️
@@cutecoots One of them I bought an AP from didn’t expect the duty and VAT to hit him, so in the end they are making a very small profit, eBay is getting more. It is frustrating, though.
Would suggest to equalize the volume of background music and voice over, the music's way too loud.
Do you mean at the beginning or throughout? I can barely hear the music.
@@TeamRetrogueyes the music in the beginning and in between segments is too loud especially on headphones
Ah ok. That I can tone down.
Yes, if you have a normalize option in your editor, Normalize your audio clips, that way they will all peak at about the same levels. You could go much more advanced with compression and limiting, but for a basic starter, normalize should do the trick.
Thanks for the tips. I use Final Cut Pro. I’ll look up how to do that.
Can I install win95 games emulator/launcher on it?
Jelos is getting better with updates
how do i acces the 1st sd card ftp on rgb30 cant figure out password i think username is root but password have no clue i looked in my setting no where to be found
I received my Powkiddy RGB30 with a defective R2 button. I'm trying to return it, but getting customer support to answer the email or messages on the website is impossible. Also, the screen has a lot of bleeding lights at the bottom, and the battery has issues with charging to 100%.
change 2 unity and the light bleed is always there. seems like an assembly issue
Yep, having everything except for R2.
Also bleed in the bottom and the charge is 75% max
Battery life? How long can we play until 0%?
Up to 6 hours battery is pretty good.
I have it and ots great. So far I've only used Jelos and i have noticed taht for RetroArch, when mappong jotkeys, its simply doesnt save on exit for next game. Jopefully this can be fixed in a futire update. Thats aside its brilliant! For anything upmto N64 youyre good!
After setting your hotkeys, go to Configuration file and save current configuration. Then your hotkeys will carry over to the next game.
never comment on an overwrapped package. although is a pain to unwrap, at least the device is safe. especially if it comes all the way from china
Hahaha valid.
@@TeamRetrogue "just to send something overseas" My guy, there are 2 options for international physical delivery on this planet: air or sea. From one part of the planet to the next. For an electronic device with a screen that can get damaged no less. This is the first time I'm watching one of your videos and I usually don't care to make comments, and I apologize for being an ass, but hearing that just a few minutes into the video... wow lol. I'll still watch the rest but the initial judgment as a competent reviewer plummeted pretty quickly with that. Again, I'm sorry, I'm sure you are great otherwise.
@@systanderI guess I need to work on conveying my humor better. Was just a joke my friend. Hopefully that didn’t sour you on the rest of the review.
@TeamRetrogue big woosh for me then, please don't adjust for the stick lodged deep up my ass. I did watch the rest, and I think it was worth the watch for reasons others described. Thanks for the video. Really appreciated the attention to the systems this device was designed for.
If you only saw the fully packed container with1/2 ton of stuff on top of your device. ;)
RGB30 is kinda bad because I cant play DS but hey I don't care that much, but hey dreamcast is good since it is 4x3 and the device is really good ror 1x1 content especially neo geo pocket and game boy stuff and game gear.
@HyperMurder the rgb30 can play Nintendo ds games. Jelos firmware plays it perfectly fine.
I think retro handhelds are basically at a point where the only innovation left is to remake a DS that can last longer with a better screen, wifi, and ability to run various operating systems…
I would like to get one but every month a new and BETTER handheld comes out.
But how many have a 1:1 screen???
