You, Sir, are an excellent teacher! I've not decorated a cake in over 40 years. So much has changed. My next great adventure with you as my guide. Thank you.
It's after 2 am and I just can't get enough of your videos. They are so informative, I want to get my bakery started in my home but I am in between homes currently. I would mix and prepare them in my van since I have power enough for that but the Baking is the hard part. I will never give up and I will have my in-home Bakery and maybe a store as well. Take care and God Bless, Jill

Love your work ,you take your time to show & explain it ...i have a question pls ...how long can you keep gumpaste or Fondant in the fridge when you make it ..
Hi, I am on the 4th lesson of the 3rd course in Wilton and I am doing fondant. I love these cutters. Now do you have to figure out measurements first so you know they are going to go all around the cake and you don't end up with a big space at the end?
Thank you Deborah. I LOVE London and go there 2x a year. I also really love working with Patchwork cutters. The creator, Marion Frost, offers classes in England all the time.

Greetings Alan --- quite interesting --- my question is how do you determine how many of those decorations go around the cake without overlapping them or have a space between the first and last piece ---- enjoyed this video --- have a nice day --- and thank you very much --- Ann
Wonderful video! Thank you. I notice you didn't talk about the baby ladybug on the leaf. Do you have instructions and molds to make that? It is adorable and would be perfect for a ladybug lover I desire to make a cake for. Thank you.
Laira Allerai Thank you for your comments. This video was dedicated to the Patchwork Side Design cutters. The baby ladybug was a cold porcelain ornament I had on hand and it fit the cake perfectly.
Alan, your videos are amazing, you inspire a lot to work.... Just now I got thick silicon patchwork sheet (if that's what it is called) not able to figure out how to use it because it doesn't have sharp edges to cut the design.... Can you please help here or with a video
GlobalSugarArt, these are silicon fondant mould, and they don't have sharp edges, so I am confused how to use them, it would be a great help if you will post a video regarding these moulds.
You can use fondant but fondant alone does not hold it's shape very well. The pieces would stretch out very easily when you try to remove them from the cutters or place them on a cake.

Michele StuartAnytime you add a design to the sides of a cake, you need to plan ahead for proper placement so that you don't end with a gap.
good thanks

Chef Alan, how long does a fondant covered cake stay fresh?
Hi Alan thank for taking time in showing your work .I have already made some of your projects. Can i mix my home made gumpaste with fondant
+Joan Augustine Absolutely! You can mix purchased or homemade fondant or gumpaste to make a 50/50 mix.
Always so informative, I have learnt so much from your videos. Thanks Alan
Greetings Alan --- quite interesting --- my question is how do you determine how many of those decorations go around the cake without overlapping them or have a space between the first and last piece ---- enjoyed this video --- have a nice day --- and thank you very much --- Ann
This would require some careful measuring of the design and the circumference of the cake. You would have to space the decorations very evenly.

Which " glue " do You use ? Is this gelatin or something other ? Thank You for Answer in advance
I am using only water to adhere the pieces together and to the cake.
Thank You very much !
can this be used on a smoothly applied butter cream frosting?
They can be used IF you are using a crusting buttercream icing and the icing has dried on the outside so that the cutter does not stick.
Thank You! and I love your work, hoping to be able to use some of your skills.
Hi Alan I love you work, can you recommend a pasta machine
+Jenny Rodriguez Sure, here is a link to two I highly recommend. www.globalsugarart.com/search.php?q=pasta

your the best!
Can you use the gum paste or Mexican gum paste on buttercream frosting?
P.S. I love your video's! ~ Yvonna
Kenneth Hooper Absolutely. If you lightly wet the back of the pieces they should adhere to the buttercream icing.
Thank you!
Thanks a lot.
Good video owsome

Although I’m not fan of this!
My gkids just will not eat it ! Unfortunately

Could you use fondant
You can use fondant but fondant alone does not hold it's shape very well. The pieces would stretch out very easily when you try to remove them from the cutters or place them on a cake.
What is Mexican paste
