DIY | Laser Cut Templates for Side Table joinery is perfect for any home!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 чер 2024
- This week, I'm taking woodworking to the next level by using laser engraving to create stunning joinery for a modern side table. With the help of the Ortur Laser Master Two 2 Pro and some 3mm plywood, I'm able to create intricate templates that make the joinery process a breeze. The table itself is made from beautiful Australian hardwood Blackbutt and is a great project for beginner woodworkers who want to develop their skills. Watch as I show you how to use the templating with a Makita router to cut perfect joinery and create a stunning piece of furniture for your home.

I feel your ups and downs Ainslee. To see you go from genuine excitement to screwing up is all part of the craft. It turned out great in the end 👌🏻👍🏻
Thank Vic. Just part of it. 😀
Well done, A. I LOVE your infectious delight when things fall into place, and that dance! Beautiful!! And . . you made a fix without ‘ hittin it wiv a hamma’! Nice work.
Hahaha thank you. I try to tell myself mistakes are just part of the process 😀
Why am I only just getting a notification for this video?? Love the work, and it turned out fantastic. Great video. 👍👍
😂😂 not sure but glad it finally came up for you :)
Not thought of using a laser for that. It really is actually quite a versatile tool to add to the shop. Project looks tops Ains, great learning experience.
Thanks James. Constantly finding the laser more and more helpful for projects.
Reaction at 5:31- is amazing.... I think we all do this when something works for us!
:) Gotta celebrate the wins :)
que buen sentido del humor! jejeje, este proyecto me inspiro a hacer lo mismo, templates con mi laser!! increíble! saludos desde Punta Arenas, Chile!
Love when a plan comes together well. Cracking job! 👏👌
So true. Great feeling when it comes together at the end 😀
Great idea for us laser users! Thank you. Looks awesome
Thank you. 😀
Another great project completed. Well done it looks great. Also good to see you aren't afraid to admit to your mistakes. In my work shop it usually results in a hammer or the stuffed up piece itself flying across the workshop. I guess we all learn from our mistakes.
Thank you. Gotta show the bad the celebrate the good. It’s where I learn the most so hopefully others find it helpful. Thanks for stopping by 😀
Absolutely stunning finish, love that timber & well done for trying new things Ainslee because everything achieved is through perseverance 🤠🍻👍👍👍
Thank you Dirk. It sure is. Mistakes are just part of the process. All worth it in the end
Came up a treat, well done!
Thanks Mario!
Well that looks amazing and great recovery on your mistake we all make them. And you added another skill to your work a mortise and tenon. Thanks for sharing
Thank you. Mistakes are just part of it for sure. It was a great skill builder 😀
Your excitement at nailing the mortise and tenon joint was infectious.
When you "stuffed up" on the back joints, I would have been inclined to simply enlarge those holes, or just the stuffed one as I don't think it actually came into play in the end. For me, doing that and making new pegs would have felt safer than remaking the whole back ad enlarging the holes on the shelf.
Anyway, loved the final product and the use of the laser for templating
Thats awesome. Could have done that for sure and that would have worked. I just didn't want the pegs to be any bigger but could have totally done that. Thanks for stopping by 😀
Always cut the mortise first and then size the tenon to fit snugly. It's quicker and easier to adjust the dimensions of a tenon
excellent project mate! love the use of the template definitely given me ideas....thanks for sharing!
Thanks Vipun. Love the laser and jsut the possibilities.
Well done! Loved your build. I loved your pure joy with your problem solving. We can all relate and it is nice to see someone share this!
Thank you!!! No better feeling of solving a problem and seeing it work out 😀
Thanks for another informative video, Ainslee. Looking to put some of those methods into practice..
An interesting project Ainslee and a novel way of going about it. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have never seen laser cutting before but I have had bookbinding and calligraphy aids made by a lady who runs a laser cutting business and attends craft events.
I was interested in the way you made a 'stencil' for the router to follow - I can imagine that being useful in all sorts of different ways.
This is a great tool for you as is Chris's sign-writing system, my son uses a 3D printer - there are so many innovations coming into use for the individual crafts-person now; a whole different world to 5 decades ago when I started craftworking. Who knows what people will be doing in 50 years time! Many thanks Ainslee! Eryk :-)
Hey Erky
Thank you. I under estimated how use the laser would be helpful. I knew I would like it to engrave on projects but I'm enjoying finding new ways to use and intergate into my woodworking. Just so useful. Thanks for stopping by
Thanks Ains great job, well done.
Dad
Glad you like it Dad. Looking forward to showing you this week
So jealous of your shop! Its amazing!! My table saw and planer is in my livingroom floor, LOL!! I hope one day to build a garage/shop. 😊
Thank you. As long as your building and having a great time that is all that matters :) Thanks for stopping by
Cool build Ains. You can start keeping a supply of different sized mortises and templates for future projects now
Thank you. Oh yes so true. Great idea!! The laser is just so useful. Absolutely love it
Looks awesome, templates would be a good side business, just a thought
Thank you Mark. It just might. Good for thought for sure 😀
I can’t believe this, everything you address is everything I want and learn. This is amazing
Just that little detail of explaining 2, 3 mm sheets cut out instead of a 6mm cut. Your not getting a like and subscribe. Your getting a love your videos and awesome content 😉👍
Thank you. Much apperiated. I'm loving having the laser in the workshop and just find it so helpful!
I like that Plunge base for your trim router, must check out for my router, looks very useful. If you practice a mortice and tenon joint with scrap timber once a day, you will get the hang of it very quickly, great video...
Thank you. The router is a great tool and one of my favourites for sure. Can do so much with it. Thanks for stopping by
Overall loved the build! brilliant idea to cut the templates with the laser, I'll be using that technique soon in a proyect!
One thing you could have done to stop the shelves from wobbling is adding to the pins another piece of wood to make it a T shape, instead of gluing it
Thank you. Yes that is a great idea and would have worked also. Never thought of that but it would have stopped the wobble. Thank you for the tip. 😀
Great video again mate, loved it how surprised you were when it actually fitted like a glove. Where did you buy your blackbutt timber from?
Thanks Stu. I'm always surprised when it works first go 😂 I got this timber from facebook market place. Had to travel about an hour so brough in bulk. Not the best timber but perfect for smaller projects.
All good. I think I've found it.
Fantastic. It’s a great setup and I still love it after all this time 😎
Hey!!! Loving the vids!!! Do you have any on your mitre saw station? The way you have sander and drill press on top and thicknesser underneath is awesome 👌. Cheers
Awesome to hear your enjoying the vids 😀
Well done! Came out really well. I'm definitely thinking about getting a laser cutter now :)
Where do you source the blackbutt timber?
Thank you. They are a great, useful tool. I sourced the Blackbutt from Facebook Market place. In saying that its ok for small projects but I would be sourced from a hardwood timber yard for larger projects.
i wish i have one of that engraving machine..????
Great project. I just got my laser 5 days ago and see a ton of possibilities with my woodworking pewoodworking. I started a UA-cam channel and I'm going to start posting some x tool M1 videos. What kind of laser do you have?
Thank you. Such a great tool. I run a Ortur and a Sculpfun for my lasering. Great machines and so many ways to intergate it into woodworking.
How can i find the base or pad that you used at 15:48 for place the table. i've been looking for one of those with so many names but i can't find it.
Hey they are called rockler bench cookies. If your in Australia Carbatec sell them 😀
@@SmallFryCreations thank's a lot. I really like your videos and your energy. New sub
