  • This is my build of the Chris Rosser AOS 3.5 quad. It's 3.5 inch, sub 250g frame design for optimal performance. I'll cover the frame, build and final PID tune I settled on.
    Flight times are around 4 minutes using a GNB 650mAh 4S LiPo, but you can got to an 850mAh if you want.

    thanks, excellent video, and VERY VERY useful, since I'm waiting for my AOS3.5 frame. I'm going the shark byte route but I'll be using the iFlight FC like you did. I hope your tuning will translate well on my build, since I'm very new and I really don't know much of anything about tuning. anyway, thanks again and you have a new subscriber! :-)

    Love your build soooo clean.
    I have a question about the spike absorber and if you have ever experienced any freezing of your FPV DJI video feed during flight? I have experienced spikes and my video has frozen especially after multiple flips back to back to back. I am using the fettech spike absorber with a 1000 UF capacitor on a 5 inch. I believe that the reason why I’m getting the spikes is because I use a 20 x 20 ESC and flight controller. Can you please tell me your thoughts on this? I have switched flight controllers and ESC‘s but I switched to a another 20 x 20 Akon F7. Previously I had the Tmotor 20 x 20 with the 55 amp ultra Tmotor ESC.
    Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also I had another question why did you use D shot 300?
    Doesn’t the I flight all in one have BLhelli ?
    If it does you should be able to use Dshot 600.
    Ps I run it on 6S and 5S. I have had freezing on both 5 & 6 cells.

    • @WhirlyBloke
      @WhirlyBloke  2 роки тому +1

      The spike suppressor is unlikely to be the problem. It's more likely a bad capacitor or maybe reroute your wiring.

    Excellent video! thanks for producing such amazing content! I own a crux35 and recently got some cheap dji v2 googles from a friend (he got the goggles 2 now).
    I love the crux35 but i hate how easily the bottom plate breaks. I was thinking to transfer some parts from the crux over to the aos3.5 and add a o3 air unit - staying under 250g should be easy.
    Would you do (a) and keep the Happy Model Crazybee F411 AIO with the Happymodel 1404 3500kv motors or (b) uprade and get a Speedy Bee F7 Mini Stack with 1404 xing 3800?
    With option A i only would need to buy the o3 air unit and the frame but I feel like the xing 3800 motors together with the speedy bee stack (and blackbox tuning) would make the better performer.

    • @WhirlyBloke
      @WhirlyBloke  Рік тому

      Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching my video! I'm glad you found it helpful.
      Regarding your question, both options have their pros and cons. Option A, which involves keeping the Happy Model Crazybee F411 AIO with the Happymodel 1404 3500kv motors and adding the DJI O3 Air Unit, would be a cost-effective solution since you already have most of the necessary components. It should allow you to stay under the 250g weight limit without much hassle. However, the performance might not be as impressive as with Option B.
      Option B, on the other hand, suggests upgrading to the Speedy Bee F7 Mini Stack with 1404 Xing 3800kv motors. This combination, along with blackbox tuning, can potentially offer a better performing drone. The Speedy Bee F7 Mini Stack is known for its robust performance and advanced features. The Xing 3800kv motors should provide increased power and responsiveness. However, it's worth noting that this option would require purchasing additional components, which might increase the overall cost.
      Ultimately, the decision between the two options depends on your priorities. If you're looking for a budget-friendly solution and are satisfied with the current performance of your Crux35, Option A could be a suitable choice. On the other hand, if you're willing to invest in an upgrade for improved performance, Option B might be worth considering.
      Additionally, I wanted to mention that there is a new version of the AOS 3.5 specifically designed for the DJI O3 Air Unit. It integrates seamlessly with the Air Unit and provides optimized performance. So, if you're leaning towards Option B, you might want to explore this new version as well.
      I hope this helps you make an informed decision.

      @@WhirlyBloke WOW! thank you very much for that fast and informative reply. I think for me its better to invest the 180€ more and get new motors along with the stack. It costs a little bit more but It would my crux35 fully intact and I could use it as backup drone or maybe equip it with gps and use it for some long range crusing. Can you use that spike suppressor on any quad to reduce noise?

    • @WhirlyBloke
      @WhirlyBloke  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, but it's not to suppress noise. That's handled by the low ESR capacitor. The spike suppressor catches any voltage spikes caused by the motor and ESCs that can fry your flight controller. This is more likely to happen on 5 inch quads and bigger, but I fit them to all my quads of there's space.

      There's only one way to mount them, so yes, they are correct. However, I was one of the first to get the AOS35 and this video was made over a year ago and the design is always being updated. And the arm design has changed quite a bit since then. The truss has changed position so it's about halfway down the arm rather than perpendicular to the body, so my build will look different to the latest builds - my latest build included.
