Just recently got blessed by the algorithm to bring me to FPV. I am hooked. Got a betafpv 2 and a simulator to start. Your videos have really helped me jump into this head first. Thank you for the content!
Dude same happened to me. Get yourself a nice little bind n fly you can practice with and fix when you crash. That’s what I did to get my feet wet in the hobby and now I’ve built 2 of my own custom builds. Seems daunting at first there is so much to learn but if you spend a good 2 months learning everything you possibly can you’ll be a borderline expert in no time. Hope to see your freestyle vids someday brotha. Edit: didn’t realize that was 9mo ago. Hope you’re a pro now hahaha
man, i started watching this channel when Joshua Bardwell could barely fly. now his just throwing down some awesome freestyle moves. sometimes i have to rewind the video to see how i could replicate a few moves.
Tommy is a genius and you can absolutely tell he poured his heart and soul into developing and tuning the 2FIDDY. He cared enough about the community to design a sub-250g 5" quad that is incredibly fun to fly, while also remaining *legal* to fly in the (terrible) inevitable future.
i will say i was also blown away the first time i took off. I ordered mine during the pre buy and got it pretty soon after. You missed out on the original button head screws, i think they were made from uncured jello, any little bit of torque and they just opened up like a round flower. Also, that early on GNB had yet to release the 380 6s so i purchased 2 550 6s packs. Right out of the gate it felt great at about 270 grams all up. I'm running analog with a runcam split mini. I was easily getting 6+ minutes from it not being kind. The 380's came out and i got some of them, the build comes in at 237 grams and i get a typical 5" run time on them. Tonight i was out just cruising around doing some exploring since i've converted it to Crossfire and i had 8:57 on the armed time when i landed ant i was still at 3.6 volts per cell. It's quite a nice rig. Beware the 3 blade props, the break easily at the hub if you crash. Also, durability, for some reason the bell loosens on the motor shaft and the 2fiddy will fly funny as there is axial motion. Super glue has helped and Ummagawd has been very helpful along the way. Cheers!
Having only mounted 1 vista so far and since they don't come with screws, the only way I could think of to install it was with a ziptie through the screw holes. I thought that's how everyone would simply do it.
From what I remember disc loading should not used on how it will fly. But should inform prop choice. How many blades, how strong props(resistance to deflection), what pitch. Also ... This is an impressive quad.
In all honesty the 2fiddy is a great quad. That being said the gold hardware is like butter they strip out and come loose. The motors are good until the shaft drops and a bell shoots off. Change all hardware and get different motors.
LOL with the zip ties. I just got done building an Apex with a Vista and the first thing that came to my mind was to use small zips in the 20mm holes! I loved your reaction to that!
that zip tie is exactly how I had done mine when I switched to caddx unit. When JB says its a good idea and the smartest thing, sure makes you feel good you had thought of the same thing!. LOL
Ummagawd 2fiddy is AMAZING. I still haven't broken any carbon. Also says size of Tommy's motors on the base. P.s. replaceable arms FTW. I HATE unibodyss
I won't even look at a quad with a unibody bottom frame; too much disassembly if you crack an arm. 30 minutes to an hour to change and re-check, not to mention re-screwing too many times does "loosen" things. Replaceable arms take 5 minutes and are always a must-have to me.
Can't wait for this level to come to mass market. sadly i lack the ability to build one of these or the money for DJI but its awesome to know the technology is there.
You really need to try the Rekon 4 FR / HGLRC Sector 4, could be the perfect sub250g freestyle drone, designed by Dave_C, 4", 1804 3500kv motors and flies just like a 5".
Bardwell -> Bard well. "Barde" was a German word for a celtic singer/poem writer. The scottish version is "Bard". Have you ever checked your family history? There might be some fascinating stuff there!
Hi JB. When comparing disc loading, are motors and props factors? Also re sub250 5-inch, have you tried betafpv xknight 360? It is slightly over 250g with battery (without one r). I fly cinematic not freestyle but fwiw i like it better than my nazgul. It feels like a toothpick.
If the bind button gets broken, you simply have to jump the two contacts on the exterior. Easy peasy. I used a piece of solder wire to touch both sides.
Hi Josh Great video on the 2fiddy with the Smart 35. For 5 years I have been flying 3in and smaller. I do have a couple of 5in but I don't have any room for them to fly right now. I am very excited about 4in now. Thanks again for the video and information.
1408, 1507, 1606, and 2004 motors all have approximately the same stator volume. I know that doesn't tell the whole story, but it says the 1404 motors on the geprc are about half the size of the 2Fiddy motors. The disc area of the 5" props is also about twice as large as the 3.5" props. That makes me think the 1404 motors should ought to be about the right size for 3.5", but I bet that isn't quite the right ratio of height to diameter. My "sub-250" is usually more like 275g. It has 1606 motors, and I've flown both 3.5" and 4" props. I prefer the 3.5", but even on 3.5" it is still super responsive on the throttle. I don't know exactly what's different about quads with high power:weight ratios, but my sub-250 just cruises SO FAST without giving it a lot of pitch. I fly it with quite a bit less than 15 degrees of uptilt, and when I'm cruising, I know I'm cooking faster than I would be with my 25-degree 725-gram 5".
Nice video, I was wondering about the flying time? I think for many people that is an important factor. Does anybody knows the average time for the 2fiddy?
Maybe it's mentioned later in the video, I'm not all the way through yet. I imagine having a 2 blade prop vs 3 blade prop changes the disk loading quite a bit. So having a 250g AUW 5" with two blade prop is probably close to 250g AUW 3inch with 3 blades
The disk loading theory, doesn't take in matter number of blades or blade thickness. Only thing that it looks at, is blade diameter. Other than that, number of blades obviously changes how a quad handles. Edit: the disk loading theory, only tries to match the weight with propsize to get a similar flight feel of different build sizes.
I have a 3” quad, a 4” quad, and a 2Fiddy 5” with 2004 2400kv motors running on 5S and it’s by far my favorite quad to fly. 290g AUW though with a 700mah 5S. I can fly this 5” in any tight places I can fly my 230g AUW 3”, yet it can stretch it’s legs in an open area.
That's some important information missing. And that's on 6S, where you'd expect to go fly the whole pack to hold the voltage well before it suddenly drops at the end. Maybe the higher kV + limiter had a negative impact, I don't know.
Same as my 5” 700 gram quads that are 4s and running 1450mah about 3.5 minutes depending on how hard you rip. The 2fiddy still flys amazing with a 650mah on it and then I get 5+ minutes but the weight is over 250 then. It truly is wild how much you can “fling” it
@@brendand.2269 I fly mine with a 650 as well. It's basicly a LR quad at that point. I've slow cruised to 9+ minutes on the Gemfan LR 5126 bi-blades. I was trying to hit 10min but voltage sagged hard after 9.
@@alexanderfpv6655 So... You bought a sub250 quad, with all things it gives up to get there, and then put a battery on it that puts it over the limit anyway? Why even get a sub250 then?

Im so glad you said something about the shocker 4” because i was in between the 2fiddy 5” and shocker 4” you have the best review for both imo, i really like the style of both quads i would like to see you fly that shocker4” again cause its been my #1 contender and Ive been contemplating for a few months about these. Im just not sure about the polar. Thanks jb
I was in exactly the same boat. I decided to go with the Shocker, ordered it yesterday. The polar might be great, especially at dusk, anxious to find out.
@@Dragon129Slayer i agree with that im going to get the shocker i gota save another 200$ tho so maybe next month. Im going dji so im spending prob like 1600 all at once so im taking my time.
Interesting as I was looking to build something that I can fly in my backyard to practice acro that would emulate the flight characteristics of a 5 inch. I was going to build a 3.5
I preordered the 2fiddy as soon as Ummagawd made it possible. My 1st 6s quad and my absolute favorite. Running a Jhemcu f722 with his exact tune. 7-10 minutes on a Maxamps 100c 430mah.
Which one should you get? How much money do you have? And the 2Fiddy comes with the Nebula Pro at RDQ right now. How much flight time do you like? The BabyHawk 2 HD gets about 10 minutes on an 850mah battery and I assume the Smart 35 is similar, but I doubt the Smart35 is under 250 with that size battery. Tough decision and I think my final call will be about price and availability of parts in the future. Will Tommy still have parts for the 2Fiddy next Summer if I break it? I know I bought a Rotor Riot 5" and 3 months later the exact motors were no longer available. I had to get 4 new motors (more common brand and KV) and it cost me about $100 and I have 3 Rotor Riot motors that will not really work with anything else I own. I would say if I buy the 2Fiddy I will buy as many spare parts as I can find right now.
1. The 1404 motors are literally half the size of the 2004s (by stator volume). There is no way the geprc can keep up with the 2fiddy in terms of handling, responsiveness and power. 2. Tommy could have designed an amazing 3.5 or 4 inch sub 250 copter. But how much of the 2fiddy's greatness comes from being well designed and how much comes from being 5"@250g? Imho there is no right answer. The floaty nimbleness of a toothpick with low disk loading is fun, and having the fling of a heavy quad is fun, too. The rekon4fr seems to be a good middle ground (with appropriatly sized motors).
but... 5" biprop is kinda like a 3.5" triblade right? 5" * 2 * 4 ... 3.5" * 3 * 4 in terms of drag, tossability... still want to see the 250 with 4" triblades with 5mm square arms (think they are 4 now) think the weight savings should be in cell count and motor size...my gut says 3S 1100... 3600kv 1607... 3.5" 50g frame... 80g battery... 80g motors.... Vista 30g totally open to being wrong.
I know JB might not agree but you can fly the Smart35 under 250g with a de-cased GoPRO / SMO4k which is the tip of the scale in its favor for me. If you don't want / need an action cam mounted and just want all out best performance under 250g then I completely agree the 2fiddy is the way to go!
Hi Joshua, Love your videos ! Which would you recommend as a first build ? A 5" Ummagawd 2Fiddy (250gram. analog) or a 4" Flywoo Explorer LR (250gram. analog) ? Thank you !
Hearing your breathing rate accelerate as you fly this quad makes me want to buy it, and I am new to fpv and durability I didn't think was going to be a thing came from old balsa trick planes got one shot on those bad boys 👍😉 AWESOME channel
I’m getting into this FPV thing and I sick at it … 🤔 my first FPV drone is DJI and I feel like for practice it’s not going to be cost effective if I crash and it seems I am so ready to crash at all times. Please tell me how I should start out I’m in the market for a beginner drone what would you suggest. I’m playing simulators and It’s beginning to get a Lidttle better. But again what would you suggest as a beginner and one I won’t get bored with while I learn and progress. I have DJI goggles and would like to use those other than that I’m looking to purchase the rest 🙏🏽 please help 😂
Checkout the specs on the HappyModel Crux35 that they're going to release soon. Seems similar to the GEPRC one but much cheaper (and has ELRS built into the AIO)
Hey Joshua did you ever review the Rekon 5? I know it is a different quad because it isn't under 250 but just curious what your thoughts of its flight performance was.
At 3:15 he reminded me of myself with my 5" weighing in at 915 grams with a Gopro.. Flew absolutley amazing, but you could really feel the weight. It was a great freestyle quad but you had to properly plan the routes you were going to fly. Otherwise it was perfect imo.
Joshua, Can you do a video on setup who to program pro glow power with open TX. Keeps the glow plug burning on a4 stroke nitro inverted. Low throttle setting.
This may seem way of subject but would it be possible to build a 250mm with the fc and pcb mounted vertically and have the lipo sit inside the frame instead of ontop ?
the RR Outlaw and UG 2fiddy are probably great and i shouldn't judge them without flying, but the Dave C Rekon 4FR just seems like a way better idea for flexibility of use, maybe not as precisely engineered for performance as it seems Ummagawd and Catalyst Machineworks have put in German+Swiss levels of effort and engineering for pure performance.
My 2Fiddy 4 inch is the right compromise. Do not like the 2 screw mount. Too easily broken on ground impact. My 3.5 is the AOS. Very quick. Hard to go slower. Nowhere near as much flight time on 3.5 as the 2Fiddy, but I'm not ready to fly at top speeds with obstacles. I'm at about 600 minutes of flight time. I tune the throttle on each quad to perform to my feel rather than let the quad dictate the throttle. Do NOT use the soft screws that come with the Ummagawd. They are garbage. Mine snapped easily.
I just bought the last PNP version and its all sold out now but I had to get my hands on some caddx Pro. Will also be my first soder job, time to order a Soder Test board I guess. Learned so mutch and sureley used your link for it. Best wishes and greetings from Germany. I Wonder what battery I will be able to use with my vista360 go mounted and staying below that 250g.
Fantastic flying, Joshua! We can feel your enjoyment flying it! 😂 Tommy did do a FANTASTIC job designing that quad! Really impressive! 😃 About the 3.5" quads, you need to try the Diatone one! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
i have a good compromise for you between both of them i had a flaywoo lr4 frame and 1507 racestar motors and it flow grate antill i lost it it wase 263g wit an 850ma 4s CNL battery if u get a lighter battery or 1507 motores you can easily get it ander 250g i am collecting parts to build it again
I’ve been wanting to build a drone for 4 5 years now but don’t know anything about drone and the differences, good pricing soldering, exc. but I wanna build one tho goes so fast and records good videos
19:14 lol I thought JB found some unobtanium that Tommy put into the 2fiddy lol this was a great vid I am trying to pull the trigger on my first REAL freestyle quad and the gep rc 35 and rekon 4 fr are on my list only because I'm trying to stay sub 250.....that 2fiddy flew like a firefly!!!!!!👍✌
I read on the Ummagawd website that they have a better hardware kit with aluminum screws that strip out less easily. I think mine has the early ones and a couple of them have stripped. Also on the Vista, I compromised on one zip tie and two screws. Just paranoid I guess.
6:40 Iflight beast F7 no good for a full weight 5inch. I seriously beg to differ as my budget beater quad with a heavy Source One frame and Eco II motors carrying a Runcam5 orange running on 1250mAh 6S has survived lots of hard ripping and several crashes with this same exact 45A AIO. It's my everyday flyer. So please test it before you telling folks it's no good for a full weight 5inch. It most certainly is and i can imagine the H7 55A version is even better.
Ive got the 30.5 beast on a 5-6" and its been solid, have the 25mm H7 on a 7" 2506 also been soild... make sure you 470-1000uf cap aio's and you should be fine..... Im sure compared to regular stacks they dont handle crash's/turtle's as good but ive been happy with mine( i dont crash)

@@pippifpv Well mine came with BLHeli-S so no support out of the box so i immediately upgraded to Blue Jay and have been running RPM filtering on it since the fist flight.
i love my crux35, such a beast.. im thinking of sticking 2 bottom plates together (they only weigh 14 grams by the time you add some glue and longer screws it will add probably about 20grams) to make it basically a 6mm bottom plate, at the moment in standard form with no hd camera, just a battery with my heaviest battery its 190 grams and i get over 10 min flight time and it hovers at 20% throttle with a 75% throttle scaled limit, so by the time i add an extra bottom plate and a SMO 4k it will be about 250grams, but ill prob be running it just with a thumb pro so it will come in around 230 grams or something, i did fly it with my old sony action camera on it that weighs 90 grams totaling 280 grams but super top heavy where its tuned to be bottom heavy as it carries its battery below, so i found it was super wobbly and terrible to fly, but that could easily be tuned out by someone more compitent than me, i think a light little thumb pro or a caddex peanut or even a smo4k it will handle no worries chasing dirt bikes, doing freestyle where im likely to crash i think ill only ever carry a thumb pro as i dont have the money for replacing expencive cameras every time i crash lol, but im also looking at things like the turtle v2 so for my flying i can record on that, but if i want to get some sick shots of the dirt bikes i can strap a good camera to it since im not really going to be crashing into solid stationary objects like i do when im just flying around hitting gaps and stuff
Let’s drop the 250g charade. We fly for the fun factor. What is most fun overall? Have you flown the Babyhawk2HD? How about the Diatone Roma F35? Or the F4? Each of these has different design and a unique feel. 5” is not the undisputed champ of fun anymore. And maybe in the end it’s the CMW Shocker 4”. Let’s have a ‘most fun to fly’ shootout.

@@Dragon129Slayer i agree with that im going to get the shocker i gota save another 200$ tho so maybe next month. Im going dji so im spending prob like 1600 all at once so im taking my time.
Sometimes he talks about drones the way David Attenborough talks about squirrels
Thank you for the review.I have considered 2f. You ruined my doubts.
That geprc smart 35 is awesome it even flys great on 3s
Interesting as I was looking to build something that I can fly in my backyard to practice acro that would emulate the flight characteristics of a 5 inch. I was going to build a 3.5
I have just had the 2Fiddy with 4" Arms arrive in Sydney, Australia. 4" props is quite tight, so I have 3.5" props on it with 1804 2400 KV motors.
in terms of drag, tossability...
still want to see the 250 with 4" triblades with 5mm square arms (think they are 4 now)
think the weight savings should be in cell count and motor size...my gut says 3S 1100... 3600kv 1607... 3.5"
50g frame... 80g battery... 80g motors.... Vista 30g
totally open to being wrong.
It was nice of you to go ahead and give it a shot but I think your original asumption was more correct
The kwads Ummagawd put together are so prem and labors of ❤. I wish I could put money towards that bad boi.
If you loved the 5in I think you would love the 4in version on 3.5in props has the same control but better feel
Too bad the 2 fiddy about 5 hunna😭
Not if you build yourself
Looks incredibly fun to fly. Thanks for the review
3.33v in 2 min 3 secs isn’t good but still looks fun!
Exactly. The trade-off is flight time. Not a good one to me.
I use TPU filament to tie my vistas to the quad. Through the same screw holes.
At 3:15 he reminded me of myself with my 5" weighing in at 915 grams with a Gopro.. Flew absolutley amazing, but you could really feel the weight. It was a great freestyle quad but you had to properly plan the routes you were going to fly. Otherwise it was perfect imo.
Another Great video...There's a place where you say the GEPRC 35 ISN'T the best 3.5....What is ?
Joshua,
Can you do a video on setup who to program pro glow power with open TX. Keeps the glow plug burning on a4 stroke nitro inverted. Low throttle setting.
This may seem way of subject but would it be possible to build a 250mm with the fc and pcb mounted vertically and have the lipo sit inside the frame instead of ontop ?
Thanks!
🤔Interesting...wonder how it would shred with the Shark Byte instead....
How to tune a 3” quad so it feels like a 5”. Maybe lower rates so it’s not so twitchy? IDK, is it possible? Help a FPVer out. 🤗
JB: "its faster" forgetting he's comparing a 5" to a 3.5" 😂
I love the titan xl5 frame. It’s built like a tank and handles like an X class
I build a mutant 4in with shark byte under 250g with 4s850 and it is so awesome!!!! My favorite quad at the moment.
the RR Outlaw and UG 2fiddy are probably great and i shouldn't judge them without flying, but the Dave C Rekon 4FR just seems like a way better idea for flexibility of use, maybe not as precisely engineered for performance as it seems Ummagawd and Catalyst Machineworks have put in German+Swiss levels of effort and engineering for pure performance.
When Tommy was first releasing his videos on the twofiddy, I could tell it was gonna be an awesome quad.
I fly my 2Fiddy at 249g with 2005 motors, bi-blade props, naked Vista and 720mah 4s. 5" sub250 is great 🚀🚀
My 2Fiddy 4 inch is the right compromise.
I have 2fiddy like build with 2550kv motors, I'm really liking the new gemfan 4.5" props on it
I just bought the last PNP version and its all sold out now but I had to get my hands on some caddx Pro. Will also be my first soder job, time to order a Soder Test board I guess. Learned so mutch and sureley used your link for it. Best wishes and greetings from Germany.
I Wonder what battery I will be able to use with my vista360 go mounted and staying below that 250g.
What size are those zip ties? My 4" are too wide...
Great review as always
HEY BROTHER THANKS FOR THE GRETA VIDEO!!!
Fantastic flying, Joshua! We can feel your enjoyment flying it! 😂
Tommy did do a FANTASTIC job designing that quad! Really impressive! 😃
About the 3.5" quads, you need to try the Diatone one!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
He loves it!!! It really knocked his socks off!
@@flowstate_link Yeah, I totally agree! 😃
How do I run the 4s Motors on 6s? Could I do that with the Smart 35 also?
Which props do you use for 1404 motors?
So the difference between nebula pro and polar is so noticeable in terms of latency?
i have a good compromise for you between both of them i had a flaywoo lr4 frame and 1507 racestar motors and it flow grate antill i lost it it wase 263g wit an 850ma 4s CNL battery if u get a lighter battery or 1507 motores you can easily get it ander 250g i am collecting parts to build it again
I’ve been wanting to build a drone for 4 5 years now but don’t know anything about drone and the differences, good pricing soldering, exc. but I wanna build one tho goes so fast and records good videos
Hey does anyone have an idea if, where or when the 2fiddy might be in stock? would be great thx
in essence you are talking about the inertial moment.
this is how it feels in the air.
I am flying with 5inch sub250g and its no problem and also I love Flying with this drone 🔥
I havent been able to find long m2 screws for the vista and keep trying to jam zip ties in there... but all my zip ties are too fat
Cut them in half. It works.
Should have tried my 2fiddy at flowstate. The 2203 motors are outrageous.
Have iflight found a fix for the missing support of bidirectional dshot of the first badge?
@@pippifpv I got it working, i believe i was on BF 4.24 and used blheli m to flash 16.71? it was like 6 months ago but i think 16.73 i was still having motor 3 issues if i am remembering numbers correctly
@@badfourlife so it is fixed now? And was it I ly on f7 or h7 too?
@@pippifpv Well mine came with BLHeli-S so no support out of the box so i immediately upgraded to Blue Jay and have been running RPM filtering on it since the fist flight.
Would've been great to see you compare the 2fiddy and the rotor riot outlaw
i love my crux35, such a beast.. im thinking of sticking 2 bottom plates together (they only weigh 14 grams by the time you add some glue and longer screws it will add probably about 20grams) to make it basically a 6mm bottom plate, at the moment in standard form with no hd camera, just a battery with my heaviest battery its 190 grams and i get over 10 min flight time and it hovers at 20% throttle with a 75% throttle scaled limit, so by the time i add an extra bottom plate and a SMO 4k it will be about 250grams, but ill prob be running it just with a thumb pro so it will come in around 230 grams or something, i did fly it with my old sony action camera on it that weighs 90 grams totaling 280 grams but super top heavy where its tuned to be bottom heavy as it carries its battery below, so i found it was super wobbly and terrible to fly, but that could easily be tuned out by someone more compitent than me, i think a light little thumb pro or a caddex peanut or even a smo4k it will handle no worries chasing dirt bikes, doing freestyle where im likely to crash i think ill only ever carry a thumb pro as i dont have the money for replacing expencive cameras every time i crash lol, but im also looking at things like the turtle v2 so for my flying i can record on that, but if i want to get some sick shots of the dirt bikes i can strap a good camera to it since im not really going to be crashing into solid stationary objects like i do when im just flying around hitting gaps and stuff
Have you tried that with really light flat 4.9" triblade with a naked gopro or session on it?
That is probably where its best.. but again 350g...
What about the rekon 4 fr?
Is it better than Emax BabyHawk II?
Hey, Bardwell. I'd really like to see what you (and Evan Turner if you can get him) think about sub250 5in racers
Nice video, Joshua, thanks!
Great insights and presentation.
I think you should try the flywoo firefly nano 1s baby it is under 250g
I might buy a few of these just to salvage those 4:3 DJI cameras 😂
Cinelog25 v2 is not only for a video shooting :)
And I'm surprised with geprc 1404, it a perfect motors.
