The Monkees may have originally started out as a tv show with but the music they made has stood the test of time and is permanently ingrained in the world. For that I think The Monkees should be recognized by the RRHOF . As far as not playing their own instruments early on is not relevant because many artists used studio musicians in their recordings back then.
I have to It was so sad when Mike died So only Micky left 😢 I went to a monkees consent last month and still not even a teenager yet but hey hey I'm a drummer and I wish I was born in the 60s
Michael Nesmith presente! Look at these guys! They went well beyond the Monkees and were two excellent musicians. Michael was a truly talented bluegrass and country icon. RIP.
I'm seventeen, I started watching the Monkees TV show because all we had on TV was westerns. But I loved the show. It was funny, it had music, and their voices were amazing. I love you guys!
I’ve loved the monkees since I was 9 I’m 66 I fell in love I have loved these guys since. Through the passing of our beloved Davy, then Peter , now Mike they through all the concerts and tours they still sound amazing. I’m sure their cheering Micky on from heaven as he celebrates his brothers
Rest in peace. Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith. I emailed Micky Dolenz in December and told him that I really enjoyed getting to see him and Mike Nesmith at the Texas Trust CU theater in October.
Roberta Marcon, Wow!! I bet you had a great experience seeing them L I V E!!! I used to watch them, religiously, every time they came on TV. Don’t remember when they started the TV Show. Just that, they were ALWAYS there. As far back as I recall. I still watched them as a teenager. Eventually, I grew out of my obsession. But I had a crush on each one of them at one time or another. I only had the 1st 2 albums of theirs,...that’s it.
I was one of the lucky ones who was there when they got their star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, and I was also one of the lucky ones who went to the press conference afterwards, and saw them the previous night at the Greek Theater {w/Mike.}
Eventhough I was only 4 when the Monkees broke, I grew up watching them on Saturday mornings! Got to see Mickey at the Alaska State Fair in 2008! Awesome show! Awesome video! Glad to see they are still making it! If you don't know about the movie they did, Head, find it and view it!
I was just right now years old when I figured out that Monkees were Beatles coded. And I watched the show reruns lots as a toddler and listened to both bands throughout my life.
Saw them at three dates in 2019. Great shows! Played a lot of Nesmith Monkees era songs such as "Auntie's Municipal Court." Really fabulous. Do yourself a favor, buy a ticket if they're coming to your town!
I have been thinking about the golden age of AM radio. This song epitomizes that era. In Southwestern Michigan, we were rocking to WLS AM out of Chicago. Awesome video.
"89, WLS." This was a great station! Larry Lujack Tommy Edwards Animal Stories. Fred Winston John Records Landecker {"Records truly is my middle name."} Sorry! This is about the Monkees. WLS was mentioned, & I got a bit carried away and off topic.
It's worth buying one of the extensive multi-disc compilations of Monkees material. It's nearly all brilliant. Full of superb songs and fantastic musicianship (yes I know it wasn't actually them playing most of the time, in the early stages, except for Mike) and some of their less remembered tunes are absolute gems and as good as anything of that magical era. Who'd have thought a 'fake band' would turn out to be so genuinely great. And this is a great performance!
@@Th3K1dd It's all great. You can't ignore the early classics. Written by some of the greatest song-writers around, and played by a fantastic band. Head is a psychedelic masterpiece.
@Rob They were all working musicians. Micky sang and played guitar with his band The Allniters, Davy played drums and was in musicals (he learned to play guitar and bass),Peter could play 5/6 instruments and he and Mike were working in the folk scene.
This was my childhood music. Our fifth grade teacher, Mr. Rhambo let us play our music in class. He preferred R&B so he exposed us to that great music and we exposed him to The Monkees. Our generation’s BTS, 5SOS, etc.
So, there is this video from this concert and also The Door Into Summer and... that's it! The rest of the show is audio only released on the Mike & Micky Show live album. How about releasing the full concert with ALL video on DVD or Blu Ray? It is the final Monkees concert ever professionally recorded and filmed. Let us see it!
Wow! Micky sounds as good as ever and great to see him and Nez on stage together keeping the magic of the music alive ~ awesome band too ... love it!!!! Boyce & Hart
There's a Clarksville, Tennessee as my great-grandfather was once a United Methodist pastor of his church. Seems almost 100 years. MIckey Dolenz was a WNBC radio personality i thought. MIKE A PRODUCER RIP davey and peter
While it wasn't initially intended, Clarksville, TN quickly became the "Clarksville" of the song because of the Air Force base just across the state line since the song was about a soldier wishing to see his girlfriend one last time before going off to war.
I got my copy of their 45rpm of this song from the guy that sold us a stereo in the department store. I don't even want to think about how old I wasn't. lol.
As I'm sure you know by now you're going to have to wait a bit longer. All the dates on the spring tour have been rescheduled for the fall. Hopefully our lives will be back to normal by then
Great songs, shows, tour, and a top notch band of some of the best musicians around. I wish the live album would have included the show opener "Good Clean Fun", but it is absent for some reason. Thank you.
It'd have been great to have seen them reunite when Davy Jones could've made the gig. He's missed, but in spite of the loss, they still sound quite fine!

I'm 64yrs gone and I have been a Fan of The Monkees since mid 1960's✌🏼
7 year old kid watching these guys on tv ... very cool to hear them later in life
Lord. I miss the 60's.... Life was so much simpler and the music was so much better....
More original songs then this crap future songs
I don't think I've ever heard a live track from anyone sound so good..
I have.
I have to It was so sad when Mike died So only Micky left 😢 I went to a monkees consent last month and still not even a teenager yet but hey hey I'm a drummer and I wish I was born in the 60s
Both Micky & Mike were old, but still sounded great. So sad only 1 is left.
I can honestly say that I don't think that ANY GROUP has affected me as much as this one!!
Mickey is sounding in fine form. So many memories coming home from States school in the 60's and watching the Monkeys on TV in Australia.
uhhh That's Monkee's
Good times and the best of times.
❤🎉😂😢Monkees we all love you here at UA-cam and everywhere in this planet❤❤❤❤❤❤
Michael Nesmith presente! Look at these guys! They went well beyond the Monkees and were two excellent musicians. Michael was a truly talented bluegrass and country icon. RIP.
glad he did.. rip mike
Unlike most bands, these guys play every instrument in concert. They're truly men with many hats. Right on!
I'm seventeen, I started watching the Monkees TV show because all we had on TV was westerns. But I loved the show. It was funny, it had music, and their voices were amazing. I love you guys!
I loved the show as well, and have their music on my Spotify
Looking forward to seeing Mike and Micky in San Antonio this September; I know it will be a night to remember most fondly.

Please add these guys to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame!
And what will that achieve?
@@lucasoheyze4597 They deserve it!!!
@@suzanne9622 Maybe it's partly because I'm in Britain and that Hall of Fame means very very little to us.
They should of been in there "years" ago.
It's to political with the bozos at the top.
The place is a joke. They don't deserve the Monkees or Zevon.
Great, Mike and his Gretsch 12 String!!!
Unfortunately, it isn’t the original. He said in an interview years ago. He had the TV show Gretsch and his touring Gretsch stolen. 😢
@@judybroyleschieze And now, he has a new Gretsch 12 String! I see them on the Monkees 2012 Tour! .-)

I just met Mickey yesterday!
In 2018 I made the trip to America just to see them live! (And I was lucky enough to shake Mike's hand yay!!!!) Love you guys!!!

Same well by Mike😭😭
White-hot
I watched them every Saturday it was a big deal no school and watch the monkees
Sounds great! I'm glad I caught this tour. It was really a lot of fun! So sad about Mike's passing, but Micky is carrying the torch.
Vocals are solid on this tour. WOW! No complaints from me!
Godspeed.
Mike figured out (too late) to be cool.

Fantastic performance! Saw the Mike and Micky show last year and they did not disappoint, it was amazing! Can't wait to them this year! 🥰
Lovely, Americana at it's best!!!
Why they are not in the Rock N Roll hall of fame is a crime. And yes, they can play their instruments.
😀😀😀😀
@whiteaxxxe "The ignorance is strong with this one!" -Master Yoda FYI, Nesmith wrote 12 of the songs on the lp. Whatever.
@whiteaxxxe Your rant suggest an attempt at projective identification. It's okay that you're a crappy guitar player. No one is perfect.
Oh my goodness I love this song this was my old first monkees album I got for. Christmas back in 1966
But they didn't. If Led Zeppelin wrote and played less than five percent of their best material, would they be Hall Of Famers?
