This video is incredibly practical, offering clear and detailed advice for seniors. It not only highlights potential health risks but also provides actionable solutions like cooking methods to mitigate issues. Perfect content for caregivers and seniors alike!
I'm 76, and I mainly stick to a keto diet, feel great, have plenty of energy, work out twice a week in the gym (pumping iron) walk and swim on a regular basis.
You are preaching to the sick puppies who never cared about their health - nonsense as at 84 I enjoy whatever I want to eat - I eat once a day - give my digestive system a daily rest period- never been in a hospital and still following my mother's advice " More people die of eating too much than from not getting enough " - I eat enough once a day!!!!!
You and your mother are so right. At 83, I still eat everything, in moderation. Usually two meals a day with about 16 hours fasting. No snacking. No meds.
It's great that you're enjoying good health and following a routine that works for you! Everyone's body is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's all about finding what makes you feel your best!
Eat everything. "Don't eat this!" is paranoia. The body is perfectly suited to great varieties of nutritional sources. Even disease, such as diabetes, does not require complete elimination of some things. Everything should be in balance; it's that way for healthy people also. Cut back on certain things for a while, while you heal from a specific malady, if necessary. The extreme measures apply only to the most severe and urgent cases, quite rare cases. The more seriously ill one is, the more one needs consultation with a personal doctor to give guidance. For almost all of us, eating fresh and unprocessed foods, and avoiding packaged, prepared "foods", will brighten your health quite rapidly. Use common sense, and don't eat too much volume. Overdoing is what gets us in trouble, like overdoing the "never eat this" over-reaction.
@@farmergiles1065 Agreed! Everything in moderation. Challenge is to figure out what is "moderate" for each one of us. Now in my 80s I am still learning. No meds. Always question advice, even from a personal doctor.
Why talk about 'seniors' as if all seniors are at risk? I am not diabetic, I don't have kidney problems, I'm not allergic to 'nightshade plants', I rarely eat fried potatoes, and the only problem I have with any veg is indigestion if I eat raw onions, garlic, radishes, peppers, and other acidic foods, but this is nothing new in my life. The only health problem I have is slight hypertension, for which I take medication. However, I'm delighted to hear I no longer need to feel guilty about not eating corn, kale, or spinach😝!
Ridiculous I'm in my 70s and do fine eating peas and my mom lived into her 90s and did fine eating peas.Basicly we are all different so we need to just pay attention to what upsets our digestive system or health and dont eat those things.
I guess it's the trend: avoid this, that; don't eat this, don't eat that. I followed all the nonsense and I almost fainted. So I am sure that what exists in nature has a great advantage: if eaten sensibly they balance one another, a great vegetable soup, not processed rice, fruit, SOYA, KEFIR, CARROTSHERBAL TEAS, if you can take milk it's ok, are our great saviours and you can add, once a week or twice, your favourite cake, a piece of chocolate, jams. Today I'm making my favourite omelette with a little onion to give the flavour a little marine salt, grated Italian parmesan cheese, may add spinach, slice of crispy brown bread, second course pieces of broccoli and half a glass of Italian wine, red or white. DO NOT SMOKE, I DO NOT DRINK LIQUORS. Have a good HEALTHY LIFE🍷
Good information, just got lab work done and I have thyroid problems, so I have to change diet. This was eye opening. Need all the information I can get.
I'm questioning this now since it stated corn is a vegetable, it's not! It is a grain and surprised they did not know this. My doctor told me to eat more veggies and I said I eat a lot of corn and stated it's a grain and shoud only eat them when it is grind into a meal.
I have been living with one kidney since March 2020. I have never had any problems with oxalates. I believe this is because I take 2000 mg of vitamin c a day, 30,000 mg of cranberry concentrate once a week and drinking a lot of water. My kidney labs are all good and I have maintained a level 2 kidney function. (I lost level 1 with the loss of one kidney.) Ask you doctor if vitamin c and cranberry might help you. Water is a no brainer.
I don't believe it because I'm 66 years old I have a heartburn getting worst but I have to eat corn because it stop the pain and it's last for a day not to get my heartburn corn was my medicine medicine n
It's important to be mindful of what we eat, especially as we age, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a balanced diet. Moderation and choosing the right foods for our health are key!
This is fear based rubbish. Yes, raw cruciferous vegetables should be avoided if you have hypothyroidism and should be cooked but basically this video is aimed at very unhealthy seniors as can be seen by looking at the people featured in the video. It would also be good if the subtitles on the video had the correct spelling - there are some embarrasing spelling mistakes.
Thanks for your feedback! The video aims to provide helpful advice for seniors with specific health concerns, but we understand that everyone's needs are different. We appreciate your comment on the subtitles and will work to improve them.
Haha, I get it! It can seem extreme, but it's all about being mindful of certain foods that might not be the best for seniors with specific health concerns. Moderation is key!
It's important to be aware of how certain foods can affect health, especially as we age. The goal is to provide helpful information, not to cause fear.
What about oils no good Repseed oil and palm & soybean oil are the worst but industrial bad for consumers why are they allowed to use them? The oil should be in BOLD on the packing in front
I have seen a video in which an Indian lady says to mix sesameseed oil and groundnut oil for cooking (these two oils are in everyday use in cooking in India). Generally speaking, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, corn oil, palmoil, soybean oil, refined oil are bad !! Coconut oil and olive oil for light/stir frying and dressing salads are best! AGAIN, USE IN MODERATION AND NOT EVERY DAY !!
You're right to be cautious about oils like rapeseed, palm, and soybean. These oils can be less healthy due to processing and high omega-6 content, which may contribute to inflammation. The reason they're used is due to their affordability and long shelf life, but it's important to be mindful of their presence in products. Labeling in bold could certainly help consumers make better-informed choices!
I like one of your videos and wanted to try others. However, the title of this one, "Never eat" is highly misleading. This makes me very doubtful that I can trust the rest of what I hear in your video. The content seems okay but the misleading title is a deal-breaker for me.
And don't forget to have the cold beer too 😜 that'll give you gas and when you fart it will turn grandma's hair gray, and she'll pass out from lack of clean Air. And don't forget don't drink the water either, it'll give you the runs, and you know too much water is a bad thing too it'll dilute your electrolytes and he'll pass out and have to go to the hospital and they'll fill you full of sugar water oh my😮
When you get older to be reminded about these vegetables is nice but we have a tendency to eat what we did for years and forget about some ones opinion about certain vegetables. Blah blah blah i will forget about this before i even try to remember it. Just saying you are not giving anything new information.
You are too confusing one time you will tell me i can eat a banana then the next minute you will say i can't eat a banana i've been watching you for 1 hour and one minute i can eat a vegetable the next minute i can't eat that vegetable two confusion

I agree I should also try just 1 meal a day….once you get past a few days it’s not hard.

Moderation amount or none at all better .

Who knew veggies could be risky? 🥦😮 Which one surprised you the most on this list? 🌱
Who eats raw kale?
Some people add raw kale to smoothies or salads for its nutritional benefits, but it’s better to cook it to reduce potential health risks.
And raw mushrooms
You cannot eat anything not even grass live on Air soon that might not be good for you to
