- In this video I'll show you how to install new RAM and also how to find RAM that's compatible with your laptop.
This is the tool kit I used, it's nothing fancy, but it works so far.

This helped me do this to my own omen. Thank you! 🙏
Can confirm, even a simple 32gb SSD for my son's phone gets shipped like that by Amazon nowadays
Great video! I got a cheaper version of the Omen 16 and want to upgrade to 16 GB. It looks pretty straight forward. Thanks.
Good vid👍 thx 4 easy tutorial 👉
Great video thank you for uploading. I have a 16 GB ram but now that starfield came out I think I'll have to go 32
Starfield has been running pretty well for me. I don't know if the 16 gb of ram would have made a difference, but it's working pretty well with the 32gb in there. Definitely doesn't hurt to have it lol
@@ulrichfirelord Stanfield ran fine for me when it came out. I took a break and waited for them to update and "fix" the game. Really sparingly using my laptop for games here and there and now that I try to run it even on low settings it doesn't run. Is it a ram issue? I've updated all the drivers and everything
Dont you have to set up the mhz config at the bios or something? Nice tutorial btw!
thanks! and no all i had to do was what i showed in the video.
I have the HP Omen 16.1 Intel i7 4060 and it doesn't have the advance options in the bios to upgrade the MHz. I'm returning it
@@SoSlow252 hey, i have the same laptop. did you find ram sticks that work for these laptops? please reach out
@@feiia7932 yes I have the crucial 32gb ones. You can't config the MHz so just buy the 5200mhz
Do you know how to changeor replace the SSD?
My laptop screen is pitch black now. What does this mean
Is your HP Omen the 2022 or 2023 version? I notice it has 2 SSD slots and there are some HP Omen/Transcend which only have 1 SSD Slot.
Pretty sure it's the 2022 version.
you have a similar model to me. i have the 16-n0xxx. how's the ram upgrade working? is it worth it? is it handling everything better? do you game on it heavily?
The upgrade is still working. Probably Wasn't necessary for most games, but I wanted to make sure video editing was smooth and if it can go up to 32 might as well right? Lol. I don't do a lot of heavy gaming on it (I mostly just use consoles) but so far it's handled everything I've played on it. Most recently I played XDefiant and some Diablo IV and they ran fine. It also ran Hellblade 2 pretty well. I don't regret upgrading. I don't know if I actually had to, but I don't regret doing it lol
@@ulrichfirelord good to know. thanks! maybe if i see a good price i'll consider it then.
you're welcome
Damn. Overcautious! grounding yourself and using lil sticks to remove the ram!
Did he say where he bought the Ram I could have sworn I heard it at some point
I bought it on Amazon, but the RAM is from Crucial. You can buy it right from their website too.
@@ulrichfirelord thanks! I’ve been playing with both the sites you used for my laptop and desktop. Took me a minute to find my model exact number but I’ve ordered the parts and hoping for the best. Do you know if there is two slots for the nvme memory? Or if I buy a new one for my laptop will I have to move my stuff elsewhere first?
i would've put the screws in a bowl or something. seeing them all lose on a dark matching table would make me paranoid.
I did that cause they're different sizes and I wanted to make sure the right ones go in the right spots
Disconnect the battery please..
I actually did disconnect the battery when I put a new SSD in and when I plugged it back in it made a little zap and spark. I looked it up and it seems like it wasn't a super big deal, (at least not this time) but I was afraid of it happening again and actually damaging my laptop. I researched a bunch and from what I gathered, it seemed like It would be okay to put the RAM in without disconnecting the battery this time. I'm sure it's safer to disconnect it, but I was worried that would happen again.
hi why removing the battery is necessary? I'm not a big tech guy.
@@lt6997 If the battery isn't unplugged it could still power the circuits while adding/removing parts (not good for you or the laptop)
it it possible to have 64GB (32x2) ?
My laptop seems to only support up to 32GB. It would depend on your specific laptop.
My omen said it only supported 32 gb on the kingston website and 64 on the crucial website but I got 96 gb ram and it worked on my system. I would buy it from a place where you're able to return it just in case it doesn't work.
Is the improvement from 32 to 96 worth it? Does your computer actually use the 96gb or does it restrict it to 32 gb? Do you have the site you got your RAM from? @@juliomata9073
