Is not exactly a repair, but could well be.
This car come to me some time ago to install/code a CD Changer.
CD changer Coding
• BMW E60 CDC (CD change...
At the end I found that the optic fibre network was down.
In this video I take you through the process of finding where the problem was...
With the optic fibre network back on, the CD changer started working...
Is not a video with a lot of info, but hopefully will be able to help someone out there.

Hello, i have problem with most, diganostic says 00FFF2, i have e90 lci with cic and combox, my bt, aux and USB doesnt work, nav is working and everything on the radio, do you know what could be the problem? The optic on cic and combox are blinking red, the optic cable that goes into combox in the boot is blinking red, the diagnostic port at the front under the steering wheel is not blinking red, i dont know if it should or not, do you know where the problem could be? Also the optic cable that goes into cic is not blinking red
Follow the optic network... see which module is not completing the loop, or where the break is...

Does the telephone in armrest use the loop also? Because on the diagnostic it says it cannot communicate with telephone, the physical telephone is not there

Hi, thanks for sharing the video I do have one question, I have an 2004 E60 it's a 545i, sometime ago the screen on the navigation system turns off and on only showing the BMW logo and it sounds like it keeps rebooting so the radio does not work or navigation or anything. Some times the radio comes on and everything works fine but then there's other times when it does not work at all do you know what may be causing this problem?

One of the things that can cause the system to behave like that, is a bad mulf...
The Bluetooth/telefone module in the boot...
Disconnect it and put a optic loop on the optic cable, to bypass that module... if the problem goes away... you found the issue... if not, you might have a bad CCC...

Well, with the CCC on, you should have the exit led on... if not, you can consider a faulty unit... unfortunately...

Awesome. Very helpful and educational. I decided to remove the factory CD changer from my car because I never use it anymore and wanted to use that space for a new mod (airplay mirroring device). For an entire day I pulled my hair out trying to figure out why I had no audio anywhere in my car. No chimes, no seatbelt sound, BMW Assist SOS error, no power in armrest usb, no audio in the 3.5mm jack. It was crazy. I was convinced the mod I bought was faulty.
So I’ve been searching online for hours when I should be sleeping and somehow I landed on this and your previous video. Now, it’s clear to me the optical network was broken by my removal of the CD changer. I’ll reconnect it first thing in the morning and I think that’ll fix my problem. And btw, it’s great that you didn’t edit these videos down. We got to see all the roadblocks you ran into and how you solved them and that in and of itself is education. Excellent job.

Hi, i have code A468 external open circuit (LVDS data line). CCC display is not working, BMW 530i 2004. Any chance that you can point me which direction to look for problem? I checked optical cable on module in boot and there is light. Thanks
The LVDS cable, is the cable that connects the ccc to the screen...
Check that some how it did not became loose... a faulty cable or screen or ccc is also a possibility...

I got no light in my fiber optic cable from the amps to the Bluetooth module?
I wanted to ask , my ccc was working when bought off the dealer a week later it would reboot over and over and work random. Now its just turns on random and no logo just a 1 second white screen and goes black or again. I see the connection for the cd changer but its not there. I bought it without it and it worked fine for a few days. I dont believe i have logic 7 and only 3 modules in back. Also navigation and satellite radio are greyed out…Any advice? I need my music :(

Disconnect all the optic modules and the CCC should boot normally, if it doesn't, the CCC is most likely faulty...

The blinking is normal...
Scan the car and see what is going on...

Scan it and run a diagnostic session... you can test the screen with a good scan tool, is the screen passes the test, the your mask is gone, if fails... well you know...

Im having issues with my Bluetooth in my 2011 E91. Bluetooth connections are fine but the people I am on a call with all complain that they cannot hear me properly. There seems to be some sort of interference or static sound. I can hear the person on the other end perfectly well - they cant hear me so well - Is there a quick fix to this or do i have to take it into a garage? Thanks .

You can do some basic checks... like ensure that all the connections are good and secure, that the microphone is clear and not covered with dust etc...
Other than that, you need to scan it, see if there is any codes, and go from there...
To be honest, I don't think something like that would trigger any codes, nor you will be able to see it with the diagnostics...
Ultimately, you can try a software update, but for that you need to visit the dealer, or a garage with the correct equipment.

Hi. I own a BMW E90 with bluetooth from factory and I'm not getting any fiber optic signal. The mulf isn't getting any signal and the loop under the steering wheel isn't getting signal too. What should I do?
Check which module is failing... or if any of the optics are disconnected or damaged..

Hi, I had raplace my mask unit with second hand, and now I have a radio problem, all the other working fine, but my radio fm now crash. If find some fm station, after few minute crash and can't find any radio station. My broken mask unit had very good radio, but I replace it becouse can't read cd. I check the optics and it’s fine. Do I need to recode the new mask unit to comunicate correctly with antenna module, or check something else?
Possibly... or the software on the "new" mask is some how incompatible...
Best it to recode and update the units... mask and antenna...

Hiya mate I know it's abit off topic but I have a issue with my pdc I'm getting a fault come up and my green light is flashing I have no signal coming from either of the sensors I've self tested the sensors but none of them are working I've changed the pdc module but the fault is still there. I just thought I'd ask the question in case you could shed any light on what to do next many thanks

Hello, I am having issues with my 2006 525i. My problem is that only the bass is working out of all the speakers. No chime or parking sensor sound, no seat belt warning either. If you are will to connect , please let me know.

Had someone unplugged the optic from the mask and plugged it into the Parrot kit? As you unplugged the Parrot to put it back in the mask, will the Parrot not work now? Also if you have to "Add" a device IE a Parrot kit, do you have to splice/alter the individual fibre cables into another plug by adding 1 lengh of fibre?

Hi Steve!
Indeed... someone when fitting the parrot, has left the optics unplugged.
All they had to do was to move the optics from the original car radio plug, to the parrot cable adaptor... which was what I did.
The parrot does not need optics, and will just carry on working as normal.
If you need to install something that needs connecting to the optic network, yes, you need to run extra optic cable in order to add the device and close the loop.
In this case, the mulf (the Bluetooth phone system), in the boot was faulty, I would prefer to have it replaced and keep everything through the I-Drive than add the parrot... but the owner didn't... lol

You can have a bad head unit...
I would recommend you to have it scanned and diagnosed...
There is actuator tests that can also help guide you in the right direction...

Hello, my logic 7 works, although the FM AM doesn't work. CD, CDC, DVD all work i see radio stations, but when you try to do a manual change it stays at 0.0?? Ever seen this?

Hi sorry I know this video is old but I’ve been trying to fix my audio issue for a while now. It’s a 2010 550i I have the sos light and no audio. Bypassed the module under the spare tire (mulf?) I’m getting lights on every connection now after bypassing it but still no sound.

That comand needs to be performed on the actual ccc...
But, for that to work you first need to ensure you are using the correct profile, and that this is correctly set up... (plenty of info out there...)
Second, if you have any mods that have been done, and/or are not in the VO, the coding will not be correct... if that makes sense...

Hi Luis, thx for another helpful video. Are you saying that if I plug in only powers and grounds to my CD player, and if I disconnect the optic fibre, I should see the red LED flashing from inside the connector? I'm trying to understand if the loop starts from the flashing LED at the radio. Thx :-)
Every module in the loop will have an active "led"... in order to transmit data...
And yes... if you plug only power and ground the data transmitter should light up...

I have a red light in all my fiber optic cables and even the one above the pedals, I used the loop on each connector but nothing solved my issue, I still have a sos light and no audio, any idea what could be causing my problem?

Hi. I have e60 2009 everything built in already. I opened the centre console and replaced all leds from amber to white. When I connected everything together again cd player and mobile bluetooth not recognised. Sos light on dash keeps popping up! Do I need to get it coded? Any help pls I'm stuck.
Don't think the LEDs replacement would cause any issues... make sure you haven't left anything disconnected to start with... try to clear any codes that might be stored in the modules...

If you have the mulf module in the boot, check that... they are prone to fail...
Easy test, is disconnect it and loop the optic fiber... if the problem goes away, you have your answer...😉

Hi I recently purchased new head unit I changed the fiber optics are they supposed to go in a specific direction or are they two way. Cd and radio works but no aux or usb
The fibre optics just need to be plugged in the in and out direction correctly...
The plug is usually keyed... so you can't really get it wrong...
Have you coded the unit?

No, you need a loop and code the car... that should do the trick...

Thank you for your time spent on repairing and showing us these BMW repairs.I own two E60's MY '05, and '06 Both have the adaptive sport pkg with the adaptive headlights, the rear light covers on both cars failed and let water in. I replaced one of AHL module with a new one drivers side only, rt side HL cover was still good. I tried swapping parts from car to car as the '05 lights were working fine. after putting them back on the '05 now they don't work either. adaptive part, lighting is fine. I have watched several vids on the FRM at the footwell. and how to see if the 50 count has been triggered due to a constant short. This could be my issue as well but I bought the BMW software off of Fleabay and seems to have all the different programs needed. My real problem is I have never coded before but it seems straight forward but is insanely hard to find two people that can give every step to get this job done, A manual is all I ask but we are the builders of the software manuals it seems. lol.. NCS expert, mine does not have the exact same options as yours shows, which confuses me until I can figure this out. I could definitely use some guidance on getting through the NCS Expert and others needed for VO/FA, VIN matching etc. After Watching your videos I can start to see a similar approach to solving these issues. The '05 car is getting a CDC I bought, I have the fiber connector I ordered, Just need to remove from jumper connector to the 2 way that plugs into the CDC connector. Then try what you did for the coding. I now am a subscriber and enjoying it.Thanks againWally

I would guess that would be very similar on the e60...
Obviously select different car and different light address...
Have a look at it... it might help you...
As for NCS Expert, I have many different profiles... but you just need 2 or so...

If the mask is not outputting light with the ignition on, then you might have an issue with the unit....

Hello, I have noticed we have the same head unit. Do you recall the reset procedure for these? My radio will not turn on within the screen, all fuses are good within the wiring behind the unit and the fan is spinning so I suspect it is in working order still.

Thanks for your reply. I do not have the DVD option and only have one eject button, which is for the CD. Pressing the mute and this one eject will not reset it. I saw in this video your unit only has one eject button as well. Not sure how you reset it.

Not sure on that one either...
But the reset, is usually if the system crashes or become unresponsive... if is completely off, then you might have a different issue...

@LMAutoRepairs yep, just saw em. Hey, I had to take my glove box off in order to change my blower motor. In reassembly, I noticed the red light optics (output?) wire was hanging out of its connector. I was able to unlock its little white cap, put some adhesive on it and place it back into the connector. When I plug it back into the V shaped housing that loops the connection, and place it back into the compartment, I get a little intermittent static from the aux and satellite radio. If I leave it hanging, it sounds cleaner. What would be the cause of the static when I remount it? Do fiber optic wires short?
They do not short, and it is weird what you are describing...
The optic fibre carries digital data, in the form of light pulses... either works or not...
Check around that area, my guess is that there is something else being disturbed that causes that...

@LMAutoRepairs I got frustrated and left it outside of the little compartment, slightly hanging in the glove box. It's been holding up well so far. At least if I hear it again, it's readily accessible. I might re-harness it when I switch out my head unit. Thank you very much for your replies. Got a new subscriber.

Hello there i have a bmw 325i e90 2006 and my car had a short so what happened i got a sub install in the back and everything was fine but something happened to the remote wire going to sub and there was a short i am thinking and some smoke came out and i turned car off right away and remove negative post. So i remove the rear seats and i noticed it melted some green wires in a loop two wires and do u have info what can it be i have part number and looked it up and i am told its for SOS' bluetooth and Microphone i wanted to be sure im glad it was minimal but want to make sure though. The green wire is optic fiber . I want to repair it i will buy the quick connectors. I asked a friend and he sayed that butt connectors should be fine but high quality with good insulation and clamp down really good for signal/data to pass. Let me know please thanks 14523661

You don't really crimp optic cables...
If burned, see if you have enough to cut the damaged area, and connect it again, otherwise buy some optic cable and replace the affected extension of the cable...
There is some repair kits out there...
Just go on eBay... you can find everything you need for that in there....

Yes... the fibre optic is the communication line between a few modules on the BMW cars... repair that, and you should be fine...

My Bluetooth came back on btw. The cd changer is working, it ejects properly and seems to be working. I’m thinking it’s the mask (head unit).

It can be... but as I already mentioned... I would stop trying to guess, and would get it scanned and properly diagnosed...
I am not seeing the problem, so is also difficult to help...
On my 2005 bmw 530i the diagram for the fiber optics is headunit Bluetooth module amp and the the cdc and back to the head unit .. right?

FVDI was probably your first mistake...
I mean, for coding BMW, you should have go with BMW tools...
Look for someone with ISTA or Maxisys, or other tool capable of flashing BMW... and try that... unless the unit is now completely bricked... which FVDI unfortunately is quite know for doing that...

For reasons that you might understand, I will not be sharing my email here...
As far as I am aware, the dension replaces the CD changer... and it comes all with instructions... where do you think you will need help?
I,m the second owner of the car and first owner has mixed up the fibre optic cables to fit some external system which he removed before selling off the car.
I fibre optic lights up behind the headunit but doesn't lights up in the glove box extension. Somewhere link is broken.
First owner also removed the cd chamger which i ordered and received now. My local audio specialits have never set dension and hence doubtful that they will be of any help.
Let me know how can i bring my car to you.

That's the problem... I am a bit far from you... Cambridgeshire...
Because I do this as a part time, means you would have to drop the car an leave it until I have it done... and due to my work pattern, and the the weather, could mean 2 or 3 weeks... or even more... and if the optics have been messed with... well you can imagine...
To be honest, I can't do it at the moment anyway, I have an S class and a 730d in the drive way, and 3 others in line...
I would love to help you... sorry...
Surely there is some one in the area that can do it for you...

My bmw e60 without navigation radio works well. But there is no sound when i play music via cd. I don't have a cd changer as well. It is a simple bmw cd player with radio as your's i think. Sound comes when i play radio, but no sound when i play cd. Can u help ? What should be the problem ??

This car was not mine... only had it to repair.
But, it might just be a faulty unit... if the CD is playing normally but no sound...

Need help I have BMW 530i E60 I checked ccc and Blue tooth, cabin filter compartment all wires look good all fuses work, no water damage no rust no corrosion, I bought the fiber optic loops male and female troubleshoot and nothing works radio don't work navigation screen is completely black no door chimes car won't start, I did not try battery cables yet but they look good too, can someone help me

If the car doesn't start then I wouldn't start with that... and I doubt that the optic network would have anything to do with it...

LM Auto Repairs it did start, it was running fine just didn't have navigation and radio working, I was starting the car and the at the same time my son open his passenger door all the light started flashing and car stalled and would not restart, I checked the battery it was strong

It stopped working with same phone and since then I've tried different phones they all connect but don't get any sound from car speakers. I've also noticed I don't get the telephone signal strength icons on the idrive screen.

Have the car scanned first...
The phone module on the E60 are prone to fail... so you might be suffering from that issue...
I tried replacing the mulf unit in the boot ( Bluetooth module) and it was doing the same thing. Any other suggestions please

Yes you can...
You need the CCC and then get it coded/programmed....
With the CCC I would also get the larger screen, in case you have the smaller one...

Is the red led on on the navigation drive?
As I have explained, you need to go and check the next node... see if the unit is working, and check the optic cable...
Thank you for quick answering, behind the DVD navigation unit I removed the cables and their is optical fiber wire not flashing in same time I checked the optical fiber wire in the cd changers in the trunk its flashing and also i have under the driver's steering wheel fiber optics loop connector it's red flashing.

So if the one of the cables is not illuminated behind the nav drive, one of the two...
Or you have a break on the cable, or there is a module in between that is not working...

As I have explained, the option fibre network is a loop, that goes around all modules connected to it.
First establish how many modules you have connected, you already know that you have the fibre working OK on some points, expose all the other modules and see on with one the fibre is broken... or which one does not have the optical working...

Bem... eu acho que deve dar retirando o velho mulf e adicionando o novo ao VO or FA, depois codificar o carro de acordo com o novo VO... todos os módulos do carro se vai configurar de acordo com o novo mulf... mas eu estou só a pensar alto... tens de pesquisar... vê se o código do mulf 2 no VO é diferente do antigo... se for há uma boa chance de funcionar...
Já pesquisei muito mas não está fácil até parece que as pessoas têm "medo" de falar sobre isto como se fosse um segredo...enfim... quando dizes codificar o carro isso é codificar os módulos todos depois de actualizar o VO? Tenho a string 644 para o mulf antigo, pelo que pesquisei para o mulf2 tenho de adicionar o 6FL mas pelo que entendo isso é só porque tem USB... como faço para saber qual é o VO do módulo?

O ideal era arranjar um cabo para trabalhar com o NCS...

Digo isso porque se tentar pedir ajuda em algum forum sobre este assunto não obtenho nenhuma resposta... cabo e software já tenho só me falta saber o procedimento..neste momento se tentar aceder ao módulo dá um erro porque não tenho o VO para mulf2.. nesse video explica como alterar VO e code mas não há maneira de saber qual a string correcta de um módulo para adicionar no VO.

Se tens cabo e software, entra com o NCS and modifica VO, adiciona $6FL e $620.
Depois codifica o carro todo... ao fazer isto os modulos sao codificados de acordo com o VO.
Se não quiseres codificar o carro todo, codifica manualmente os modulos...
De qualquer forma deverias conseguir aceder ao mulf... mesmo que não codificado...
Mas faz isso primeiro...

Difficult from the top of my head...
But, all the media/entertainment modules are on one of the fibre optics. So on that one depends on the car options...
On the safety network, it is all the safety modules... but once again, I am not sure how many ... sorry..

When I unplugged all of the cable (3) from the mulf the ccc works perfect he don't reboot anymore.
