  • in this video i show you how to easily relocate the MPM (micro power module) on the e60 bmw. will only take minutes and no tools required, this will help you avoid damaging it from water build up in the trunk spare tire boot, if this module frys, it can cause other electrical issues. only minutes, free to do, and save you money from issues in the long run.

    LOL, In most cases where you get water down in the lower compartment where this module is installed, it almost always comes from a leaky sunroof seal. And the path the water follows is down the inside of the rear pillar to EXACTLY where he relocates the module. From which it eventually makes its way down to the lower compartment below the spare. So you're kinda danged if you do or danged if you don't with this fix. The easier preventative measure no matter where you put the module, is to just put a ziploc baggie around it and cinch it tightly around the incoming wires with a rubber band. And when you find water in that lower compartment change your sunroof seal. This is almost always the source of the leak. Its cheap and easy and your interior will be silent again.

    You should also protect the wires from any sharp edges of metal. The car's vibration will cause the wires to rub and wear out the insulation on the wire.

      Noor Hamzeh it was settled, if you paid to have it repaired they cover certain amount, not sure if they cover the modules damaged due to it. I've seen two already damaged recently, so wanted make this video as it only takes minutes, and avoid the hassle of trying to recover money from a claim.

    I have a trunk latch problem. my 2004 e60 mpm got fried due to water damage. I then replaced it with one from eBay. I tried to match the part numbers to the T. Most things work and my idrive is back on But my trunk still won’t lock. I think the latch is messed up, Do I have to replace the whole latch? Or is it a wiring problem? It’s been causing the the battery to drain. And the car won’t go to sleep completely after being locked due to the trunk not being able lock on to the latch. Any suggestions? I’ve replaced the battery 3 times it’s not the battery.

    Hey I have an 05 530i and my idrive screen keeps restarting to bmw logo. And sometimes randomly just out of the blue it will start working again. I don’t think it’s the ccc itself because I just got it replaced a few months ago. Do you think it’s the mpm or a blown fuse?

      my car has a comfort antenna there a Bluetooth box and a tpms computer. i have a 2008 535i yesterday i put an ice chest in my trunk it leaked water well that night on the way home my tpms light comes on then today my check engine light comes on i start looking at the obvious. well i lift up my cover for spare tire i see wires so i pull everything out my tpms is just sitting in water all the wires are wet so i have pulled the tpms computer out have it drying at a fan and i dried all the water out rest of the computers did not get wet. im move the car around to try and my check engine light went out it was on for a pcm/ecm no com. i back into the garage and put a shop fan on the trunk to dry it my tpms light is still on cause i took the modal out to dry after it drys im going to reset the tpms system hopefully the lights stay out. this was bad placement on bmw who puts computers in the bottom of the trunk really.

I have intermittent electrical power loss every now and again. it doesn't happen often; maybe like once or twice a month I suppose. if there are in fact troubleshooting steps, could you possibly post a video on how to do it? or if there isn't enough demand for it, maybe just message me on IG or something on how?

    • @roskinc
      @roskinc  6 років тому +1

      Jozay Rozay if you have leaks in the side boot, theirs something definitely wrong, their amps and the telematics module on that side, your wiring for taillight, on the other side your battery and fuses, it should not leak on the side boot. Check your window trim seals if they need to be replaced, the e60 go out in just a few years I've replaced mine already a few times and need to again. If your worried of just the mpm, then I would wrap it in something maybe a zip loc.
