    My pedal settings:
    - spring tension is on maximum
    - footboard is on the longboard position
    - direct drive adjustment is on position "H" (heavy feel)
    - beater holder is on position "B" (power)
    - footboard angle adjustment is a little bit lower than the initial setting (about 1mm on the gauge)
    - beater angle is on initial setting
    - distance between beater holder and center of the beater head is about 13.5cm
    - I use Sonor beaters and with all this settings the distance between beater and drumhead is about 13cm
    If the Demon Drive is not your first pedal I would highly recommand to put the settings as close as possible to how your old pedal was set up. If the Demon Drive IS your first pedal I would recommand to start with lower spring tension and greater distance between beater and head.
    I hope I didnt miss something!

    Love your vids man. I've been playing guitar for a while and decided to start a one man music project. Obviously I needed drums but as I've never played drums before, I had to start teaching myself. Your vids on your double bass tutorials and pedal setup here have been lifesavers. Keep up the good work!

When my spring is tight, my pedal sometimes makes unwanted hits when I bury the beater. I hope you know what I mean. I hit the bass drum, and then because the tension is high, the pedal has an extra unwanted hit. How do I avoid that?

    • @wanjanechtangroeger

    • @wanjanechtangroeger

      +MorganvanHelsing thanks brother I've been asking a lot of drummers what their opinions are I've been playing since I was 5 I bought a new kit and a pair of speedcobras almost a year ago and am still trying to tweak them to my liking between spring tension and beater distance it hasn't yet been enough I'm going to keep playing around between the pedal and beater head tension and see what I come up with. pedal settings are so personal so needless to say it takes a while to position everything to suit your needs and playing style.

      +steamed96 I tried them at a music store but no matter how I set them up they always felt a bit too heavy for me. +MorganvanHelsing thank you very much for answering ;) ! I would have just another question for you: How much time did it take for you to control your foot technique? You know, I don't really know what foot technique I could use and that's very boring and discouraging :/ I tried to use the swivel technique but i'm not very convinced about the efficacity of this technique ! Yours seems to be much more permormant :)!

    I'm going crazy on whether to get the demon directs...I played eliminators for years (black cam)...I still use with vdrums (w/kd7)..been playing dw9000 for about 5 yrs..they're still ok but feel sluggish. I'm not trying to be the fastest..I don't play extreme...but I'm a dedicated drummer and feel strong urge to get dem.dir.
    there's a used 3002 in really good condition at $450... or new for $650
    Is it worth it? Will it make a big difference? Please fellow drummers..gimme the answers

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  Рік тому +1

      Will it make you faster? No, not really. But the Demons have a far superior drive shaft compared to Eliminators or DW9000. And that was the main reason I upgraded to them. With the Demon drive shaft you simply have zero lag and latency and it doesn't wear out like normal ones (and less lag indirectly makes you also better at playing double bass). Also the Demon Drives can be setup to feel very similar to Eliminators. So if you want to play a lot of double bass for a long time to come I'd say it is worth it ;)

    • @wanjanechtangroeger

      Ich habe die Bassdrum immer leicht zu mir hin angewinkelt, d.h. die Aufstellfüße sind so eingestellt, dass vorne gerade meine Hand drunter passt. Damit kommt das dann ganz gut hin. Davon abgesehen kann ich nur raten, das Pedal nicht zu fest anzuschrauben - die Verbindung muss nicht super steif sein, damit das Pedal in Position bleibt (vorausgesetzt man hat einen Teppich).

    Any reason why you don't use DW9002 pedals?? Or you have tried them already?

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  7 років тому

      I have tried them once and they were feeling great! I might have bought them but there is one problem: the drive shaft (the connection between slave and master pedal). It is is very thin and is just a normal type of drive shaft. Any normal drive shaft starts to lag after a while when you play much double bass. I even wore out and broke the Axis drive shaft. The Demon Drive has a very robust drive shaft and there are ball bearings in the joints which makes it much more durable. Even after years of heavy abuse the moving parts of the drive shaft did not lag. So the drive shaft is the main reason why I bought the demon drives ;)

    • @Thelearner1000
      @Thelearner1000 7 років тому

      MorganvanHelsing Thanks for the response, i asked because I recently bought the DW 9002, i have also the pearl early version of the DEMON Drive but seem to have a better response/feel on the DW9002 for me.
      Also, I have a question on your doublebass technic, I watched your videos on how you are doing this. Is it accurate to say that you use the base of the pedal(very end ) to pivit like if you were doing a 1 handed roll on the snare drum where you pivit on the rim in this case to get the one handed fast roll?
      I'm trying to comprehend the dynamics as i see your technic uses very minimal energy and is effective. I also have a bounce technic that when I apply it on the doublebass i can have doublestroke roll as you would do on a snare, but the technic i developed uses only the toes and the balm of the foot (were the toes connect to, its a quick snap and its there (perhaps, ill recorded so you can see up close). Its also very effective and effortless, no one is doing this, most drummers use the toe/heel thing that in my view takes more energy.
      Cheers

    • @wanjanechtangroeger
      @wanjanechtangroeger  7 років тому

      When you have both pedals you can use the DW but with the Demon Drive drive shaft - I never really thought of combining things like that ;)
      Regarding my technique: First of all yes, the technique is effective but it may be misleading to say that it requires minimal effort. There are bpm sections where it requires almost no energy (180-210bpm) but when going really fast it takes a lot energy. Still I have very good stamina due to the strain being split between diferent muscle groups.
      I think I don't use the heel plate like the snare rim during a gravity roll. My heel is directly above the end of the heel plate so it would be like if I would place my hand above the rim instead of further back. You can clearly see it here: ua-cam.com/video/8xmHO56x-SY/v-deo.html
      For better understanding it is also important to know that I do not slam my heel onto the plate. I only gently touch it and the main energy is brought to the pedal via the balls of my feet.
